Did anyone else have to look up how to cook stuff?
I was trying to get to the 4th trail (in the snow area) with just eating raw mushrooms lol.
I'm a few hours in and i've died sooooo many times (it's a good thing!). I think the last few Zelda games I completed without dying on the first play through....
Is there an instruction manual? I bought the game physical, no manual in the box which I expected. But isn't there a digital manual that can be accessed in game like on Wii U and 3DS??
I figured it out eventually, but it wasn't exactly intuitive. I would have preferred it to be just sitting down at the fire then your inventory is brought up immediately, and you just hit 'a' on an ingredient to throw it in. Minor gripe, of course.
Can anyone give me a hint on one of the dungeons? Currently in the
Zora Elephant
I'm trying to
get the terminal in the smaller water wheel, but I can't think of a way to either stop the water flow or drain the water in order to hit the terminal. Can anyone give me a hint?
Ok I'm in dire need of more weapon slots. Where do I find the big Korok dude after the first time? I assume it's a Korok forest of some kind but I'm not sure where to start looking.
in Hyrule Forest, north of the castle. You can't fly in there as you'll get lost in the mist. I wouldn't head there as a matter of urgency but it's up to you.
I spent a long, long time looking for him in Faron Woods, lol. I was waaaaaay off.
I love how some of these materials can be put to use on things. Take this Octo Balloon for example. It comes from a water creature and you can attach this to objects to make it float. Not sure yet what objects I want to attach this to.
On a pillar in the sea, the song goes "at 17 of 24 the pillar will show you the way" or something, I'm assuming I can find it at 17:00 or 5pm, but I don't see anything.
For the hyrule compendium, does anyone know If anything is missable? Been taking pictures of everything since I got it but now I was doing a shrine and I noticed
guardian scout IV
and I've fought others before and didn't have the camera at that point so I so hope I've not missed it already.
I'm guessing at least some may be missable because
you fight naydra by a spring later and it flies away after you defeat it, so unless it goes somewhere else, no other chance. (EDIT: Just seen it again now act, guess you can
At the very least I hope compendium and stuff can carry over if NG+ is on this?
Also, anyone find the tilting puzzles really terrible in portable mode at least. With the joy cons off it was more doable, but with them attached it's pretty much undoable unless you can move your neck at any angle.
Haha, no worries. Because I was playing it days before everyone else, I was banging my head at some of the 'dungeon' stuff with no one to help. That one caught me, but only for a couple of minutes. That's why I remembered it. As far as I'm concerned that's by far the easiest 'dungeon', too
I was only able to beat two shrines on the plateau before I needed to make that recipe for the old man to get to a shrine in a colder area. That took me a long ass time. Am I missing shrines in the general area around the first tower? I feel like I scoured the land. Only two korok seeds for me so far and I've played maybe five hours? Gonna be a while before I'm off this plateau, I think. It'll be 6 years before I finish the game.
well, i've grown to understand that every single shrine - so far - had you solve puzzles of increasing complexity and always exactly one optional chest. I'd love that not to change, otherwise i'd be scouring every nook and cranny of every single shrine even more thoroughly.
Just a general observation but I love how clever this game makes you feel. If you can think of a solution it is probably going to work. The puzzles are just so satisfying, both in shrines and in the environment (And probably dungeons but I haven't done any of those yet lol)
The game made me have to take notes to solve a puzzle (The puzzle being:
The two at the top of the Twin Peaks are on the way to Kakariko
) and I was really excited by it and happy to solve the puzzle. For most games I would have been like "Wow this is a waste of time I'll just look it up."

Some shrines have two or more chests, but they're never hidden. They're always in an obvious place, but with a challenge to reach them. You don't have to scour shrines for secrets, that would be a pain in the ass.
Also, the bonus chests never have anything in them that you couldn't find somewhere else.
Loving the villages and characters and all the cool interactions you can have with them. How they're doing/saying different things at different times, how there's ample dialogue options. It really feels alive. I just got to the second town the main quest brings you to,
the one with the research lab
, is so great. Visually it's beautiful, the people there are quirky as hell, the music is good and present lol.
Yeah the game is brilliant. Only complaint is that the story takes quite a backseat it seems. Still early days though so it might ramp up. I really like the premise of the story, but the narrative beats are very few and far apart it seems. I just want more impactful character moments, I want the game to make me care more about the situation at hand and the people it's affecting. There's a lot of telling and not much showing (story wise, the gameplay is the opposite!), nothing much happens right in the moment, it's always people talking of the past and Link is just going around learning about it. The January trailer had me excited and thinking there'd be more in-the-moment drama and urgency, but I have suspicions on why I haven't seen anything from that trailer yet...
I guess that's just the nature of having a truly open world, it's not quite possible to have a solid direction for the story. Thankfully the world has plenty of fun NPC's to muck around that give the game life.
It easily has the gameplay to be my favourite Zelda ever, but I'll have to wait and play a lot more before I can contend it with OoT or MM lol. Probably my two favourite games ever so it's a hard bias to beat. Honestly though BotW could top them if the story ends up developing more. I probably shouldn't even be thinking in comparisons until I beat the game Just some early thoughts after playing the game for like 2 days straight. Probably prematurely commenting on things that I haven't given time to develop!
Also frustrating how I'll spend half an hour making my way to a shrine or a watchtower thing while along my path and it'll be guarded by an enemy way above my level. I'm struggling to find anything that I can reasonably accomplish now.
yeah the tower thing is really fascinating. Like even though the towers themselves, climbing it is usually pretty easy, but sometimes they have little quirks to them like thorns or no ledges or whatever that makes it that bit more interesting. but the main thing is actually SEEING IT and GOING TO IT.
I haven't played an ubi game with towers in a long time now, but I was sick of them 3-4 years ago and this is just such a surprising take on it. It's so utterly satisfying because even getting to the base of a tower feels like an achivement to me.
I am not following the main quest now and thus just exploring the land but it stays blue on the map and I don't see the details. How do I get it "discovered" basically?

Man I'm just all time waiting to get back to play Breath of the Wild. Last time I was this excited about game was probably Bloodborne and I'm still only in Plateau in Zelda. Heard it only really starts and gets better after that.
You know what? I'm going to go on a suicide mission into a tough area to see if I can get away with some good loot to tackle one of these combat trials I can't beat.
Let's see how this goes. So far I've just been going in the direction that the game has gently pushed me towards.
The world level design is just sheer genius. Even when you think there is no way you'll ever get up somewhere really high because it seems so far away (plus my low stamina), there is always a way.

silly question..ive disabled the hud as everyone says to do...now im running around just killing random crap looking for the shrine thingys that give you the abilitys (got bomb and magnet) ...also bumped into the old dude who has the glider but i have NFI what to do at the start
You know what I genuinely think is one of the games best atributes as an open world game? The world map isn't cluttered with icons, no auto discovery icons and a system that actively encourages you to leave map markers. Truly a game that treats you as someone with intelligence. I love this game
After two days of playing I'm pretty sure this is my favourite Zelda game. Only one real annoyance at this point is that I can't seem to find a steady stream of rupees. Is there a quick way of collecting them?
As an aside, the town/stables music are awesome so far. The highlight being the

I bought the game and played it with my nieces yesterday. The youngest who is 7 said to me:
"I'm not being rude but this is my favorite Zelda game ever."
I burst out laughing and told her there is nothing wrong about her expressing her opinion. She has played WW, LTTP, TP, and a few of the recent 3DS ones. I asked her why it was her favourite and she cited being able to jump as a big reason as well as just being able to explore and do whatever she wanted. Watching her skillfully hunt and kill a boar put a huge smile on my face.
She also figured out by herself how to get those two chests near that quicksand part.
Often times people always argue about Zelda not doing this or not doing that but I love watching my nieces being in awe of this very series just as I was when I was much younger.

Wii U play log. Apparently switch users have to use the parental controls app? Bullshit if true, but there it is.
Simple attack and defense rating. The attack rating of what you have equipped -> The attack rating of the item you've currently selected.
Just left the plateau and already deviated from the main quest, currently getting used to riding horses and engaging in combat on horse!
Spent half hour just hunting wild animals at one point, foxes, geese etc just to get loads of ingredients. Cooking and eating/survivalism has really added a great element to this series, hope Red Dead Redemption 2 features it.
I was wondering, is it fine selling the gems that say "has the power or ice/fire/etc"? They're the most valuable things I have right now after selling the one piece of diamond I had.
