Are you guys playing it in handheld or docked mode?

Docked with pro controller. The game is a bad time in handheld mode imo... Small buttons and a long distance from right stick to buttons are a big part of it. Combine this with a screen that's just too small for this game and demanding gameplay and it's just too much

omg so I did a trial yesterday that involved a ball in a maze:
you control it by tilting the controller and navigating the ball around... pretty standard. I thought I was clever by rotating it so the ball would drop into a different part of the maze, but then I tried turning the whole thing upside down and it actually worked.

This game is alright.
I hope you didn't forget to filp it back upwards and rotate it so you can jump to ut and get the chest.

Been playing the game but not too much cause it's the kind of game you never turn offf since you're hooked. There is always something more to do.. And i have to work to!

Stupid technical question that bothers me. Why in hell is Link's model in menu so blurry.. It's like it's not the same rez than the rest of the game.

Also it's really hard and weapons breaking is obviously frustrating cause you can't get that many in your inventory and hard fights can break many weapons easily. Some guys like the green goblins are tough to kill. Bombs and Arrows don't hurt them a lot.

My biggest disappointment with the Switch is the ergonomic, as i want to plya it in my hands. Man, after 1 hour i got hand tingling and finger cramps. This is just something huge and weirdly balanced to hold for hours with all those buttons to reach by twisting your fingers.

If i have to accept after some times "well some games are really better played docked with a pro pad" that's really the whole concept's failure for me. I'm kinda worried about playing Mario Odyssey in portable mode.

Ok I'm in dire need of more weapon slots. Where do I find the big Korok dude after the first time? I assume it's a Korok forest of some kind but I'm not sure where to start looking.

Naw. Played it all night in bed and it was great. Brightness was was all the way down and still plenty bright. A little over 3 hours from 95 percent until 7 percent when I went to bed. Not ideal controls compared to Pro, but it was still great.

I was JUST going to post this because I did the exact thing!

I don't know, I want to love the game but it's not a 10 for me just yet.

But moments like that, those are pretty brilliant.

I ran to the last boss on 4 hearts
(killed two then died and bailed out, you kinda just zerg them)
.

Enjoying the game, I wouldn't say it's a 10 out of 10 or even the best Zelda, but it's a great game. Music's a bit of a disappointment (shoutouts to having a seizure on a piano) and there's a lot of menu fuckery in relation to weapons and such.

I do like the exploration though and feeling of being underpowered. Feels like you're sequence breaking the entire time and there's always a bit of tension.

....

I've been playing this game since 9 PM EST.

It's 6:48 AM as of typing this sentence.

I've done nothing but collect stuff, cook, and search for horses to tame. I'm barely doing story stuff.

What is this game? What is my life now?

Did anyone do the flower mission on the little shrine outside of the stable? I stepped on this lady's flower bed one too many times and she kicked my ass. I actually lost health from it. Crying.

See, the thing about this crazy game is that I'm 45 hours in now and had no idea that item existed and you think it's a '3 hours in' item. That's amazing. You didn't spoil me, btw, as I do have the other pieces of the set. I'm just saying that we'll all have such crazily different experiences. I wish I had gotten a piece like that before getting 40 hours or so into the game - it makes a big difference.

well, i've grown to understand that every single shrine - so far - had you solve puzzles of increasing complexity and always exactly one optional chest. I'd love that not to change, otherwise i'd be scouring every nook and cranny of every single shrine even more thoroughly.

I found him a few times in the Hyrule field region after that (you know if you were heading in the general direction of the castle).
Keep your eyes open around the areas stables.

Guys, is it a good idea to sell my wiiu and buy a switch for zelda?

Well you could just get the WiiU version right?

Hello gaf, I just began a series of article where I will tell my adventure for the game with screenshots (I hoped they were better quality :/). You can fin the first article here on Let'Switch.

The first one is just about the Great plateau so nothing too fancy, but my goal is to compare adventures with other players so that's why I told mine.
If you want to take a look, don't hesitate to tell me if something is wrong or if my English is bad :p

ps : don't mind the website, it is pretty much in construction and this series of article will be just in English.

Haha I found a stupid shrine
without anything to do in it. "By entering here, you've already proven your worth". It was well hidden to be fair.

Oh cool. I thought I had to look for him in a forest or something. Thanks! :)

This game is alright.

Here is how i completed it:

smashed the back of the maze like a baseball bat to the bal and launced it to the right place lol.

So what are you guys getting for battery life undocked?
I know this has nothing to do with the game but it really has me curious.

I have 35 Korok seeds, 9 shrines and zero dungeons. I haven't even returned any of the seeds yet because that dude is invisible!

Wait what, there's a climbers bandana? Well fuck me. I'm riding around Kakariko on a horse and I didn't even know that was an 'early game' thing!

Two questions.....

I would LOVE if there's underwater exploration like in Skyward was possible. Is it here or not? You can put it in spoiler tags for people that don't want to see it.

Will we get to expand our inventory so we can carry more weaponry?

I now feel like an idiot for not flipping the maze. Took me so many attempts the normal way...
If it makes you feel any better it wasn't my first instinct.

the first thing I did was flip the maze 90 degrees >_>. Suffice to say it didn't work lol.

Does anyone know a good secondary place to get shock arrows? This Lynel is kicking my butt, and I have over 2K rupees I need to spend.

1.
I don't think so, if you're high enough Link will dive, but I've never gone underwater.
2.
Yes with the Korok seeds.

Can anyone give me a hint on one of the dungeons? Currently in the
Zora Elephant

I'm trying to
get the terminal in the smaller water wheel, but I can't think of a way to either stop the water flow or drain the water in order to hit the terminal. Can anyone give me a hint?
Would be much appreciated.

Oh and I have to say, the combat mechanics are really good.

I just completed the "minor strength challenge" that was a doozy!

Try stealthing with items. Once you've collected about 15, you can just run up the hill (run all the way up) where there are a couple more trees along the way with about 5 shock arrows. The tree at the very top had 4 in it in my game.

Yeah I got the chest as well :)

That's coooool. I had enough trouble
kicking the ball up from the extended bit and just getting it to land safely. I am rubbish at motion stuff like this.

Does anybody know if the Ancient ____ items the Guardians drop have any use? Or should I just sell them?

Some of them have a very important use. I held onto all of them until I could see what I could do with them, although I admit with their price, it was really tempting to sell.

Find the stables on the way to Kakariko village. He's on the hill past the bridge to the north. There's a mini quest there with 3 blue guys to kill.

I've played for about 5 hours in total now. I adore almost everything about the game so far. I feel this game will replace Majora's Mask as my all-time favorite. I get shivers just thinking about everything the game has in store...

Some shrines have their trials not inside the shrines; whether you are solving a puzzle, or just finding them.

The
female Gerudo
dress is WITHOUT a doubt the most beautiful equipment we ever had in a Zelda game xD
Well done Nintendo, well done^^

Should I be using resources that provide upgrades as soon as I can, or is there something else I can save them for? Thinking weapon, bow slots etc.

omg i want to buy cloootthesss.

I'm really surprised at how amazing this game is.

I played for about 5 hours last night. I actually struggled a bit in the begining, but after a while things just clicked for me. I really appreciate the sense of exploration and discovery. It's an open world game that feels so fresh and unique. The other thing I had forgotten about Zelda games is how rewarding they can be. It just feels so good to play.

This is kind of a hard thing to describe, but Zelda games tend to have this extra layer of critical thinking that I don't often see in other titles. Because the game doesn't hold your hand, you feel incredible when you find a little secret or figure out a puzzle that just seems impossible.

I have noticed some frame drops, but it really doesn't hamper the experience for me at all. Nintendo has something really speciate here. So glad I got a Switch.

22 hours, 57 korok seeds, 29 shrines, all of the map unlocked, zero dungeons.

No idea when I will get around to the main story haha.

Okay, so I'm eating humble pie right now. I was seriously underwhelmed by the last few Zeldas (same rigid formula, too samey despite aesthetic differences), but this is a different beast entirely. I'm only at the beginning, but I can already feel the new approach paying dividends - namely, that I'm not bored within an hour! Open world games can be hit-and-miss as you run out of things to do, so I hope this feeling continues as I progress.

In fact, my biggest issue is with the Switch itself. It just doesn't feel comfortable as a handheld. It's obvious there will be a smaller, lighter revision in the future, with better controls. The price we pay for being early adopters, I guess. The sheer awe of seeing this game running on a 6.2 inch screen is overriding any frustration I may feel, however, for the time being.

Did anyone else have to look up how to cook stuff?

I was trying to get to the 4th trail (in the snow area) with just eating raw mushrooms lol.

I'm a few hours in and i've died sooooo many times (it's a good thing!). I think the last few Zelda games I completed without dying on the first play through....
