Sorry if I sound like a clueless idiot, but is it supposed to be difficult to steer your horse?

When your horse starts moving on its own hit L to soothe it, you should see some hearts after that.

The more you soothe the the higher your bond with it is and the less likely it is to move on its own.

Is there a list of all the different combat moves? I already forgot how to do a shield bash, and I'm guessing there are other techniques I just haven't found the button combo for yet.

For example, a quick tap of the attack button results in a horizontal slice for most weapons. What's the button press for a vertical attack?

Is Amber only a material used for selling? Unlike Sapphire, it doesn't explicitly say [sell this].

I don't want to dump the 23 I have, if they're used for something else.

Yeah I agree about that part about a more powerful console. If one game deserves to have superb IQ and just overall amazing graphics it's this one. It is what it is but I can't deny that I kept thinking about that too for a while.

Was playing Horizon Zero Down until Zelda hit and have not gone back to Horizon, but all I can imagine last night before falling asleep after a 6 hour marathon of Zelda was my imagination taking all of Zelda and having it run on the engine of Horizon Zero Down. HZD looks so damn good, but personally as a game Zelda blows it away. I am not here to make a Zelda vs. HZD, but more to say what would Zelda look like with HZD graphics? It would be mind blowing. Like some other said, Zelda deserves to be running on more powerful hardware.

I was beginning to suspect that. Thanks!

The guide mentions a completion % being on the bottom left of the map screen but I cant see it at all. Can anyone else see this or is it something they took out after the guide was completed?

I can't believe how good this game is. This is better than anything I've played since OOT.

It's the game that my 8 years old's self was playing back in 1998. The game I imagined TP would be before it came out when we saw pictures of dark deep forests with Link exploring them with a lantern or the vast fields with goblin riders in the sunset.

Some of the stuff is used for crafting. I don't know to what extent

Though you can probably sell a bunch of it, I doubt you need 23

Fucking wow. The world in this really does feel alive. The way the NPCs react to the time of day, weather, the environment, and you are all extremely impressive. Seriously blown away by this game.

I also love the secrets in this game. So far exploring is really fresh and surprising. I hope that's maintained throughout. Pretty crazy if it is as that's near impossible to do in an open world game.

Damn this game really rewards exploration.

Climbed to the top of the
Woodlands
Tower,
then climbed on top of the actual tower itself and there was a Royal Claymore stuck in it. Really strong too.

Is there any interaction with the dragons that occasionally fly around the map? I saw this lightning dragon flying around right outside the Plateau last night, but it dove into a lake and then flew off. I'm not sure if they become part of a quest or side quest later but it was dope.

Wasn't there an interview saying they were trying to develop brush fire mechanics in TP? I could have sworn I read a preview interview before TP was out.

Edit: the quote was about burnable wood and how everything wooden in the environment would have to be made Burnable. It came from a 2005 interview with I think Nintendo Power?

Not only that, but village npcs have schedules and their dialogue changes to reflect that (going to sleep, sleeping, morning, what they are doing in daytime, etc)

Somebody mentioned the score possibly falling after the honeymoon period. Well, I'm 75+ hours in at this point and I have no doubt the game is a 10. When does this honeymoon period expire exactly? ;-)

I'm really enjoying this a lot, but it hasn't completely sucked me in the way HZD has yet. Need to give it a lot more time though as I'm just off the Great Plateau and wandering around in the forest, so still figuring things out.

How are people feeling about the 98 Metacritic score? Agree or disagree? Is it one of the best games this gen?

To answer myself I'm only 2 hours in and still on the Plateau but so far I'd absolutely agree with the high scores. Personally I'd only have docked it for the weapon switching so far.

Both of my kids also really like it and when I asked my son how it was he said he liked it as much as World Of Final Fantasy (which is his favorite game right now). So it's a win all around in my house.

About a year or so for zelda games. Took about that amount of time for TP and SS. And I was not talking about the score, I was talking about public opinion. I think you will see more and more people reach a concensus on the game's shortcomings just like TP and SS, which I personally believe this time to be monster variety and dungeons.

Oh and wow at the look of the good early game weapons. So good. Can't wait to see the stuff later on. Also first village is great. I thought these things would be after thoughts.

Has anyone compiled a list of all known shrines on the web anywhere yet? I want to print it out and cross off the ones that I have visited. Link?

Anyone know what the shooting stars/meteors that fall to the ground contain?

I tried to get to it and died getting to it (I was by the castle at the time).

Would like to ask 2 questions:

1. How are the dungeons? I know how many there are but how are they compared to dungeons in past series?

2. From what I have seen the map and minimap of the dungeons looks really confusing and bad is it really like that in game too or it looked like that on the videos?

Why does the game look so washed out? I have a calibrated projector and the colors always look boosted and contrast is so high things are washed out on this game. No idea what they were thinking.

I know exactly what you mean. If it could have the insane crispness, the image quality of HZD..... good lawd! But ah well.

I don't get something about cooking. I have these things like Bokoblin Horns and Fangs and some others with the exact same description. It says to cook it alongside a critter to make an elixir. What is meant with this? For example I took a fang, horn and something else but it created dubious food.

Then there's also for example a Lizalfos Horn. Too hard for cooking but can be used to make elixirs. Sounds like I've been doing it wrong trying to cook these. How do I make elixirs?

I'm not sure what's going on but I'm curious to know how is something like that blowing you guys away? Unless you have never played a Bethesda game in like 15 years. There are a good few other games that do that as well i.e. change NPC habits during night and day.

I'm playing the game right now and liking it but I haven't seen anything in this game that I haven't seen and experienced before already...atleast as of yet.

It was quite funny watching the Easy Allies Switch launch stream last night and they were playing this. They turned off the motion controls because they're "garbage" and then you watch them struggle to line up arrow shots every time they tried. Made me chuckle.

Huh? The dialogue in Bethesda's NPC are mostly the same, regardless of context. Poke a sleeping NPC in Skyrim and he'll rise up and speak his usual shtick. It's actually quite funny how robotic they are.

HOLY SHIT!

A cloud of purple ganon shit just washed over me and it was scaey as fuck. Then it triggered that cutscene that said at midnight ganons power peaks and a bun h of monsters appeared right in front of me. The ones I just fpught hard to beat. This game is cool.
