You've ruined all the other Zelda games for yourself.

I could still see myself replaying Skyward Sword sometime soon, I probably liked that game a whole lot more than most of GAF did and I think that in a lot of ways it's the most unique 3D Zelda. but I can't see myself going back to any of the other Zelda games for a long time after this one.

ten hours in and this is probably my favorite video game I've ever played. And those ten hours were on Wii U, with the abysmal framerate. Doesn't even matter to me right now.

People who assume this game is critically acclaimed just because it's Zelda... man, those dudes are going straight onto my ignore list now, because there's no way I'd be able to stress to them with as much weight as it deserves how goddamn wrong they are.
This shit is legit.

I'm about to start over now that my Switch is here. And I can't wait.

Same

Played about four hours yesterday. Made it to Kakariko Village before shutting it off for the night.

The game is honestly a bit too big. I'm never going to feel like I've discovered enough.

I need to know what to do for the NPC sidequest you're given by
the Rito child who tells you of her Grandfather finding a large white bird in the mountains.
I travelled to the location she spoke of, even cut the massive tree down and nothing seemed to happen.

Are you seriously supposed to find these memory places through photos? If so, then this is the worst quest in a game ever, such a shame because I was loving this game up till now. But I ain't doing this shit without a guide.

Nintendo can be sadist but not cruel XD
There's an npc, the painter you met in Kakariko who will pop up in stables and will give you direction about some photo of the nearest memory point, search for him. I also met other npcs along the road that can give me directions.

that moment when you defeat a tough opponent only for a lightning to strike his sword now on the ground, killing you

Any one solved the shrine with the
constellations
? I'm so confused, a push in the right direction would be nice.

Yeah, I love Skyward too, its controls, dungeons, music, and story are great to me, it's just a blast to me to play, and Breath of the Wild feels like its successor in some ways. I can go back to that, and the 2D games like ALTTP or Link's Awakening as those are easy pick up and plays. Still like Twilight Princess a lot too but for me it doesn't really get good until the third dungeon and after and that takes a while lol.

I dont think they are necessary to beat the game. If you happen upon them you get a cutscene.

Jesus, this boss you gotta fight to get the 20 shock arrows, I just can't do it!

Just sneak around and collect the arrows on the trees.

Question, does Zelda pick up majorly after the first hour or two? Played an hour or two last night and found myself, very underwhelmed. Hate to make this comparison because it's already overwrought, but perhaps it's just because I'm playing Horizon right now as well and the pacing in that seems a little more high octane? Obviously both games have a different focus but it's hard not to draw some basic comparisons. I know Zelda is far more systems focused from what I've heard on here and seen in previews.

Not trying to troll, just curious if anyone else is running into the same feeling or if it's just the first hour or two that's slow.

Perhaps I should put Zelda down for now until I beat horizon?

Oh phewww, thanks guy, I must have missed something then.

Wait, does the dude on the first bridge east of the plateau
Hashmo
really
stops you from jumping off the bridge thinking you are about to kill yourself
?

This game.

Was the (1st divine beast spoilers)
Vah Ruta dungeon considered a main dungeon?

If so, main dungeons in this game are very disappointing if they're all like that... Very short

The regular enemy encounter music is actually fun in this game. Has more of a good melody to it. And where there's little background music, I actually welcome it this time.

Whether it picks up or not depends on you, since you have the freedom to go basically anywhere you choose whenever you want. Get out of the plateau first and then see how you feel.

You need to find them all to advance the quest. Not necessary to beat the game of course but definitely something I think most people will want to complete.

I don't think the game is for you. The game won't majorly change, it's heavy on exploration all thorough.

Yea him, I've just realised that
shooting him in the face with an arrow helps

Lol, I
have those Ancient Arrows, and they can kill him in one hit. Unfortunately it absolutely obliterates both him and his weapons, so I had to reload and just leave him be for now.

Maybe you're playing it too much like Horizon?

I can appreciate this POV, but for me, the aesthetic is a little more wonderous than something like Skyrim or Stalker and that does a lot for me.

Plus, while simple, I find the combat waaaaaay more interesting than most open world games, and Zelda still has some good puzzles.
That's fair enough. Can't argue with asthetic at all. What it goes for, it nails.

Combat imo is better than skyrim (a 6 year old game). But now that dragons dogma, horizon, and even witcher 3. (That's controversial) combat in open world games has evolved.

I'm still early in the game. Still trying to find the rythmn. (It took me 10 hours of witcher 3 to finally "get it" and it's now my favorite game of the generation). So I'm not passing judgment yet.

I'd really suggest focusing on one game then the other. Playing both simultaneously is only going to lead to more comparing like you're doing and that's not really fair to either game. The overall impressions of this game are very high and if you're not feeling it, nothing wrong with coming back to it later.

You're in tutorial area where enemies can be easely killed, it's noob area to let you understand basic mechanics XD The sense of danger and exploration will come really after you leave that place and start to explore on your own.

But i you want a little challenge try t go beat the mini boss of the plateau.

Nope. I've had the same feeling and mentioning it here. (I'm not trolling. I'm just trying to drum up some discussion).

I'm trying to not compare the two. I'm just searching for the rhythm of Zelda. Haven't hit it yet. But I wil

It isn't difficult at all. There's even an NPC who will give you pretty good clues. Help him find the Great Fairy Fountain in Kakariko Village and he'll help you out.

He'll usually appear at stables thereafter.

Is anyone struggling with the controls? I suppose with such a wide verb-set available it's only natural the controls are complex. I'm sure I'll get used to them, maybe I'm just getting old.

I think that's what I'm struggling with as well. I have a feeling it's probably just the tutorial section, but the game feels very barren right now. I was suprised how sparse enemy locations are.

One thing the game needs is an option to replace an item in your full inventory with an item you get from a chest.
Just a
"Your inventory is full. Drop an item?"
Would do it.

Any recommendations on what things I should sell? I have full pockets right now and things like 3x Ruby's which sell for 210 Rupee's a pop which I have no idea if I should keep for something or cash in?

while the ai is decent on close range, they are absolutely inept if you don't attack them head on... i usually bomb them from distance if I can and they really have no way to deal with that.. also they usually go Towards the bomb to kick it, making the thing even easier.
that being said, bombs don't deal that much damage after the plateau

Basically. I was a moderate fan of the franchise. This game is blowing me away like no other game has. To the point where I think that people who aren't having fun either havent left the plateau, aren't respecting the game enough to do crazy experimentation, or otherwise doing something wrong. That and I've seen some streams, and let me tell you, some people are playing it as though its oot or something, zero experimentation.
