I love how adaptable the enemies in this game are. Was fighting a moblin and he picked up my shield I dropped earlier and used it against me. Its a little thing that goes a long way to make enemy encounters more interesting.

One thing the game needs is an option to replace an item in your full inventory with an item you get from a chest.
Just a
"Your inventory is full. Drop an item?"
Would do it.
I mean really, it's as if Nintendo doesn't have any beta or hell, alpha testers in this case. It's such an obvious thing to add.

I can't even cancel a pick up of a crap weapon either, I have to either equip and throw it or go into the menu and drop it.

Question, does Zelda pick up majorly after the first hour or two? Played an hour or two last night and found myself, very underwhelmed. Hate to make this comparison because it's already overwrought, but perhaps it's just because I'm playing Horizon right now as well and the pacing in that seems a little more high octane? Obviously both games have a different focus but it's hard not to draw some basic comparisons. I know Zelda is far more systems focused from what I've heard on here and seen in previews.

Not trying to troll, just curious if anyone else is running into the same feeling or if it's just the first hour or two that's slow.

Perhaps I should put Zelda down for now until I beat horizon?
I'm right there with you. I'm about five hours in and the game hasn't quite grabbed me yet. As I learn more of the tools available to me and figure things out more I'm hoping it will entrance me.

Those enemies that belong to the
Yiga Clan
are some major dicks. I'm enjoying a nice night time stroll when they
literally transform from an innocent NPC to a murderous blood hungry enemy. Damn they move fast. I had to take one down by freezing her with my arrow

I wonder how difficult it would be for them to offer some type of context sensitive options when you highlight an item via the dpad. Basically as you move between the various weapons, pressing something like A or B to drop.

Jesus, this boss you gotta fight to get the 20 shock arrows, I just can't do it!

Don't fight him! Too early on, you'll have to come back later and finish him off. Just sneak around slowly and find as many shock arrows as you can. Bushes, on trees, etc. once you have 20 climb to the top of the mountain, jump off and head back to Zora's domain.

Any recommendations on what things I should sell? I have full pockets right now and things like 3x Ruby's which sell for 210 Rupee's a pop which I have no idea if I should keep for something or cash in?

I gotta chill with the cooking, lol. I have 4 hearts and I'm making food that recovers 14.

I do wish you could have the option to make 5, low heart recover skewers all at once instead of making one big dish, for example. Cooking would be way faster that way I feel.

Was the (1st divine beast spoilers)
Vah Ruta dungeon considered a main dungeon?

If so, main dungeons in this game are very disappointing if they're all like that... Very short

He is considered a main dungeon boss. It's not the same dungeon feel as traditial Zelda titles. I definitely agree, but it was still satisfying being able to finish that part with not a lot of weapons and tools as you typically would have in a boss fight like that.

Can someone spoil me on
how hearts are needed
to pull the Master Sword?

I'm trying to decide if I should just spend all my Spirit Orbs on Heart Containers or spend one on Stamina Vessels.

Is anyone else finding the controls confusing sometimes? I always forget that "throw" is R1, and hit the ZR button instead (the placement feels more natural). I am always dropping my bombs as a result. Maybe the controller is just a bit too small/cramped on the shell thing, but even switching weapons in the heat of battle feels cumbersome. And I don't have big hands by any means. Buttons and sticks are also a bit too small for my preference.

My son loves the game though. I find myself fighting with controls for some odd reason, and this has never happened to me with games before. Like I have recurring senility when playing. Died too many times because of my dumb button presses.

Maybe I haven't touched a Nintendo controller for too long.

What do you need extra Stamina for anyway? Stamina feels like a dump stat.

I have +2 stamina and still run out of it sometimes, especially gliding down really high points. There's certain powers you get later after beating the dungeons that makes having extra stamina absolutely essential. And afaik, shrine orbs are the only way to upgrade stamina.

This was for me a really nice surprise but my arc enemy at the moment are the wizrobe >.< Damn element attacks, they hurt, lol

Experiencing the same thing. It's just something to get used to and hasn't been very problematic or anything for me. I switched jump from X to B though as I traditionally like Y for attack and B for jump.

Gat damn the villages in this are amazing looking and filled to the brim! Every house has so much detail... just mind boggling. And the professor is one of my fav characters so far 😁

IMO, this would be hand holding, which would break the game design of BotW.

That would be a good implementation. For weapons, I just d-pad select the weapon and throw it.

I think that's what I'm struggling with as well. I have a feeling it's probably just the tutorial section, but the game feels very barren right now. I was suprised how sparse enemy locations are.

yeah the first part of the tutorial section didn't grab me at first but the hooks started showing themselves once off of the plateau and you've got an objective to make your way towards. then you just see so many neat things along the way and get distracted doing them in a good way. get out of the tutorial section, head to where you're supposed to go, and do things along the way. I think you'll start to see where the game is coming from. it may sound boring explained in text but for me it's all about managing what I'm trying to do and figuring out how to do it. I'll have an objective that I'm sort of making my towards in a roundabout way but then I've got multiple things that have caught my interest along the way that I'll figure out how to tackle.

Simple, yet really lovely, I love them too. I wonder if I will be able to get over the first one. It grabbed my heart XD

No, no it would not. There are a ton of quality of life mechanics they could put in this game that wouldn't break anything. Being able to quickly dump weapons and items without going into a menu is the furthest thing from hand golding, the thought is laughable.

Wizrobes
are fucking terrifying.

Yeah I get this too. Wish we could switch the shoulder button functions around a bit. Gradually getting more used to it though.

These stasis shrines where you have to aim objects are about as fun as I imagine hammering my own balls would be. Especially when there's weapon durability to account for.

the rest of the set is off the starting area to my knowledge, as for the coat/cold, there's other ways of solving said puzzle
Fun fact: equipping flaming weapons (including lit torches) gives a bit of cold resistance :D. Helped me climb mt lanayru which was too cold for just the doublet

Is there a way to tell how many hours I've played? There doesn't seem to be a detailed activity log on the Switch yet.

I think it's the fact that we actually have to press a button to jump now and it's in an odd placement. I'm used to pressing one of the lower two buttons to jump. I guess I can change controls, just haven't done it yet.

So I'm at a shrine near the stables north-east of Hyrule Castle...

How the fuck do I
get the second treasure chest? No strategy I use for launching the ball via stasis works, it either doesn't go far enough or bounces right out. I'm getting real frustrated here.

Agreed. They are, by far, the worst part of the game so far.

Noob question: If myself and my partner have our own profiles on the Switch, will that partition the save slots for Zelda? We both want to play our own games, so I'm trying to figure out the best way for that to happen.

Ahhh this fucking game

Enemy spoiler
fucking Lynels man. I can't even get half their health down. Way too weak to fight them right now with only 5 hearts.
