I just got to my first village. It was quite an epic journey just getting there, The village is gorgeous!

Paya is hilarious and adorable. I love her "cover my face" animation. Its so smooth. I spent 5 minutes just walking to and away from her just to watch her do that animation repeatedly. Its glorious. The conversations with her are so charming!

And
Impa's
design is soooo ghibli. This whole village feels like it. Its amazing.

Taking a break after 5 hours of gameplay, so roomate can play too, lol

I love and hate the Korrok seeds (I know I'm repeating myself)
Strangely I like to do all the map while usually I dislike walking too much in others game but the glider make the exploration so much more... smooth xD
Enemies are becoming a little more tougher so I actually need to eat food now regularly during combat, lol
I dislike hunting for insects, I always miss them.

What I like the most is there is always a little secret to found, I really encourage people to test the items we loot, like the balloon of the octo.

Oh crap I sold mine without thinking that's what it was for!

there's a treasure lake right here (it has a korok seed in the middle btw)

ak7DlNG.png

nearby there's a broken house with a chest in it -- containing a leaf

You fan them with a leaf to find the koroks
I swear I did this and nothing happened.

The only time pinwheels have done anything, in my experience, is a bow and arrow balloon tasks.

Can you roll/dodge? Not really sure how to deal with enemy attacks besides blocking.
Backflip or jump to the side. If timed perfectly it will prompt a flurry rush counter attack.

Having such a hard time getting parrying timing down and dash -> flurry timing down too.

Ugh.

Just hit the first village and my fuggin god the FPS is atrocious.

I never get rid of my leaf. I don't need it often, but the times I have needed it have been so rewarding that I'd just never want to be caught without one

My Video Review of Breath of the Wild is LIVE

I'm going to hide now

Regarding SPOILERS:

I do not feature anything that I consider a spoiler, i.e. story elements, boss battles, cutscenes, secret locations/items/cool stuff, etc.

HOWEVER,

I do know that some GAF members are very sensitive about this stuff, so I'm going to point out a couple of things from the video that might qualify as a spoiler:

1. I play music (no video) from a location in the game for 30 seconds to prove one of my points. There is an in video disclaimer in case you want to skip ahead.

2. There is video of one of the locations in the game that you can go to after you leave the plateau.

3. I use about 10 seconds of a cutscene which features a character from the January 2017 trailer when talking about the voice acting.

it's really nothing but if you're real sensitive you might want to wait until finishing the game until watching.

hope you like it!
Nice fair review Anthony and I completely understand where you were coming from with some of your gripes

Is there a way to release a horse you've already registered? I just caught a much better horse and don't want my beginner/noob horse anymore..

Got off Plateau so far, and partway to first village, and I want to go back to the plateau to explore a bit more now that I don't need to cook food to cover the whole place (
I had found the old man's house with the recipe info, but didn't manage to make the actual recipe, so didn't get warmth tunic till the end
).

Game makes me feel like it's 2004 again, first jumping in to World of Warcraft, where just stepping into a new zone felt like stepping into a new game. In love with this game so far.

The fact that there are 3 ways to obtain the warm clothes from the old man.

I am screaming dlaskdas'dlksa'dl;k

1)
Make the dish he speaks on his diary.

2)
After he gives you the paraglider go back to the cabin and there is a treasure chest and a new entry on the diary.

3)
Just reach the highest peak in the snowy area of the Plateau BEFORE you complete the shrines
(How I got it)

This game.

I just wanted a blue horse. But it kept bucking me off of it. It didn't matter anyway because a Guardian ended up blasting me off a cliff anyway.

Also, I hate flowers. I hate them, I hate them, I hate them, I hate them!

I've played 50 hours without a guide completely but I give up at this last thing.

Having found 10 of the
memories
going solely by the pictures and a hint from the NPC on a couple of them. But the last two... I could spend forever looking. There's no proper hint in the picture at all. I've walked every forest looking for one of them... marking my map where I've been.

At this stage I'm just going to look the last two up. And that's a damn shame.

EDIT: I even went and found (Hyrule Castle spoiler)
Princess Zelda's room and read her diary
to look for clues. Nada.

Anybody think this feels a tad like far cry 4 and primal? The whole... see enemy camp/base.... use environment to do something awesome.... finish off remaining enemies....

Just jumping into this thread after playing all day to say that it's incredible. The idea of bite-sized dungeons everywhere on the map is great. Simply discovering them feels satisfying, let alone actually finishing them.

Is it just me or are arrows highly valuable? I ask because (divine beast spoiler)
the battle with the Zora divine beast basically requires them, unless I'm mistaken. I have the 20 electric arrows needed, but you need a lot more to get rid of all the ice blocks.

arrows are definitely valuable, and the main thing I've spent rupiees on

Also, has anyone tried the diamond shaped labyrinth in the North of the map? Ran around in their for half an hour and couldn't figure it out. Which was strange as the other ones were easy.

After over 20 years this looks to be the game that will finally push Super Metroid down to 2nd place of the best game of all time.

Finally taking a break after playing nearly all morning. Off the Plateau, but barely scratched the surface otherwise. What an amazing experience so far.

Lol so there's an npc patrolling a bridge right off the plateau. After talking with him I decided to jump off the bridge into the water below.

He started freaking out, basically talking me out of suicide. Come down off that ledge, he said. Youve got a good life, he said. Too funny

you can use regular arrows or even the sword for the cube like ice blocks. The spiky ones can be dealt with stasis if timed right.
really awesome to see these different approaches!

Noob question: If myself and my partner have our own profiles on the Switch, will that partition the save slots for Zelda? We both want to play our own games, so I'm trying to figure out the best way for that to happen.

You'll both have your own saves if you use separate profiles.

This game.

Nice. I only did the first way. Never knew about the others.

The NPCs are so charming. I love their expressive animations. Its also cool to see them have a schedule. I keep walking around and see NPCs do things differently or see them with other characters depending on the time of day.

Question about first village:
Is the rain scripted when you get to Kakariko village? I assumed it was just random but then the convo with the guy outside of Impa's house gives me the option to ask him if he;s drenched.

I wrote what I felt was probably my best post/analysis of a game in my 12years-long tenure on these boards and my iPad's shitty memory (lack of) just thought it'd be a good idea to wipe it with an automated refresh before I could post it.

It probably wasn't meant to be. But I'm still pissed :(

So all I'm left with, after an hour writing mostly praises and an analysis on how the game carries HL2's torch, are the couple nagging issues I have with the game. Ugh.

Let's go on then:

For all the work that has gone into the UI and making the game flow, it's appalling that every time you find a weapon you're interested in but have no space for it, you must go through the Inventory Menu, select the proper UI icon, then choose the weapon you want to drop, resume gameplay and only then you can finally pick up your new weapon... what??
Why don't you just freakin' give the player a prompt to swap a weapon on the spot when the inventory is full?
Am I missing something? Maybe there's actually a better way to do it and I just didn't notice yet? I mean, you can throw weapons with R but what about shields for example?

My second "issue" with BOTW is that I HATE that there's no rolling anymore. I mean, not even during combat when going for a special attack. Perfect Dodge isn't nearly as satisfying or as well executed as TWW's evade-roll&jump-strike. IMO, of course.

It's just me or did I understand that you didn't found the quick menu with D pad? ^^;;
English isn't my first language.

It's just you. ;-)
Of course I select weapons/shields/bow through the quickmenu and not by going into the inventory screen every time I need to equip something.
Unless there's a way or a button prompt to toss shields, bows and such when selecting them via the left/right d-pad quickmenu... if that's the case then I haven't seen it but of course I'd love to hear it

(English isn't my first language either btw).

Btw guys I'm stuck, any HELP?
How do I solve the Shibe Niiro Shrine puzzle (the balls)?
What does the tablet mean with
the solution to this memory is found in the other shrine and viceversa?)
