Just did the elephant thing. Was pretty cool. WBG was no problem other than the 2nd part where Link would constantly not wanna hop on up on one of the platforms and keep swimming parallel to one instead.

Thinking back to how last year when they were showing the Great Plateau a lot at E3 and everyone was like "omg they're showing too much of the game" is fucking HILARIOUS

So I climbed Lanyaru Mountain...

That was amazing! I expected there's be something up there, but certainly not THAT. Having the reward basically be just a Spirit Orb and a fancy spear that'll break soon enough was a little underwhelming. But the whole experience of hunting down Sunshrooms, making spicy food, getting equipment to further help resist the cold and climb better and then finally setting out on a self-made quest where all the game had said was "There's probably a shrine or something up there..." Of course, the one thing I did need, I had too little of, that'll teach me to let my arrow count drop.

And that was just a side quest... Now I need to find out what to do next. Plenty of Hyrule to explore. I really hope there's a blacksmith in the game. Would be nice to be able to buy basic weapons.

Yeah lol. That is basically all I knew about the game and I feel like its still most of what I know. This game has so many secrets!

Man, enemies are ramping up in difficulty. I'm only like 7 hours in (going slowly) and I feel like even with my strongest weapons fighting enemies takes like 10+ hits and they kill me in 2. Tried doing the mission to kill all the enemies on Hateno Beach and died endlessly. :(

How do I get stronger? Do I need better weapons or something?

Those in hateno beach are tough especially the black bokoblins. It helps getting better equipment and enchanting it, so you take less damage. Also I used a spear for the reach.

I am absolutely enthralled by this game.

Yes. If your weapons are too weak then run away.

If you just keep dying but are strong enough then learn how to cook.

So after playing 20 hours and figuring out the timeline, I love how Aonuma trolled everyone about what timeline its in.

Obvious timeline spoilers:
Aonuma: It takes place 100 years after Link is defeated.
Fans: So thats why they made a "what if" timeline" they'll explain it with this game!
Aonuma: lol no. Its a completely new Link and has nothing to do with the what if scenario.

Aonuma: It takes place after Ganon has attacked many times.
Fans: It has to be at the end of the Downfall Timeline! After Zelda II! Its the only explanation!!
Aonuma: lol no. It takes place in the Child Timeline and there were a bunch of Ganon attacks off screen in games we never released after Twilight Princess and Four Swords Adventures.

Aonuma: Rito and Koroks are in this game.
Fans: Adult timeline confirmed!
Aonuma: lol no. It takes place 10,000+ years after Twilight Princess so I'll add what I want.

Aonuma: Sheikah are a big deal!
Fans: DOWNFALL!
Aonuma: SEE THE ABOVE ANSWER!

Me: HOLY SHIT! Its a sequel to Twilight Princess, my (now 2nd) favorite Zelda game! *Sees Zora locations named after Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess Zoras.* *Finds the shattered Mirror of Twilight* *Has mind blown*

I've been off the plateau for about 2 hours now I think? And this is exactly the same thing I thought.

Aside from a handful of things that were spoiled to me like
riding animals other than horses
, some NPCs, the way some towns look, and some random enemies, everything has been pretty much surprising holy-shit moment after holy-shit moment.

Where can I find Korok Forest? I've got lots of Korok seeds, but Hetsu said he went to this forest after met him outside Kakariko

The first Great Fairy I met offered to upgrade one of my equipment. I didn't have anything good so I didn't want to waste the upgrade. If I do upgrade something, do I have to pay her another 100 Rupees to upgrade something else, or do I have to find another Great Fairy, or will she upgrade anything?

Also are there ways to get new clothing without buying? I'm hesitating with spending Rupees at the moment haha, a rarity in Zelda.

The rupee is a one time fee, you can come back to her to upgrade anything anytime as long as you have the mats required

for your 2nd Q, I personally found no armor in the wilds... Also rupee is VERy easy to get in this game

Central tower was exciting to go up. Would not climb again.

That sequence was awesome for me. Amazing organic set piece. The unlocked the tower and flew away but my horse got stuck at the bottom so I had to get him back by sneaking the Guardians. Improvised rescue mission. I love the scenes this game can create.

Where can I find Korok Forest? I've got lots of Korok seeds, but Hetsu said he went to this forest after met him outside Kakariko

I don't know if he randomly appears in key spots but the second time he appeared near one of the central stables.

Have any tips to finding those seeds? I've yet to find a single one..

Look for strange patterns in the scenery, 3 identical looking trees, a suspicious placed stone, nenuphars in a circle and so on...

First village NPC spoiler:

Wow the
Koko / Cottla
stories are heartbreaking.
The way their stories unfold is really sad. You first meet them when the older sister needs your help finding an ingredient so she can make a stew for her little sister. Seems like a sweet thing until you find out their mother died and the older one is trying her best to be strong and care for the younger one.
Then it gets sadder when
you see the youngest who doesnt know she died thinks the mom is just playing hide and seek and that she will find her soon, all cheerfully.

What hit me most was when I accidentally ended up in
the Kakariko graveyard and saw the older one who has to pretend she doesnt know and act strong for her dad and her sister, just bawling in front of her moms grave.
Goddamnit. The event is sad enough but I think accidentally stumbling upon it really shocks you.

Must. not. cry. Please tell me there are more quests where I can do something for them ;_;

Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by this game. Other times I have to forget what I've learned in other games. For example off the Great Plateau now and I came to a river I had to cross to get to a tower. The current is to fast so it's draining my stamina pretty fast. So I head up stream to see if it's slower or the distance is shorter. It doesn't even dawn on me to about 20 minutes later that I could use the freeze rune power to create pillars to climb up and hope across pillar to pillar! Still not used to that power.

However because I forgot about that power I ended up traveling further and further up stream and came across to interesting new enemies. Like a damn octorok. I didn't even see it at first until death from above started raining down place because the damn arcs it's shots now.

It's crazy too how many times I've been one hit killed in fights. Largely do to my own fault as well because I get to aggressive .

However as I'm running around I get overwhelmed because there is just so much to see and do. I don't know if I should be heading toward the story or just run up this hill to see what's at the top or clear out this group of enemies to see what's in the chest or what's just beyond them. I don't want to get tired of the game before I make any real progress but I don't see how that can't happen. I spent 7 hours on the damn plateau. If I keep that up I'm going to end up spending just as long in this new region.

Also just how dangerous is the
Blood Moon
that can happen at night? Experienced it for the first time but wasn't near any enemies.

Everything is a puzzle in this game. Koroks, I just saw five statues and one didn't have an apple so Bam!, place an apple and the little fella came up.

The shrines have a chest that sometimes requires a bit of thinking to get.

Its all so rewarding.

I goddamn hate the Lost Woods in this game. Every one of those trials are horrible and the Keo Ruug Shrine is beyond what I want in Zelda. I apparently figured it out by accident and that's always fun...

Guys the story in this game is both somehow a bit minimal and yet my favorite in the series because of how deep it actually is.

Lore wise this is some HOT SHIT for Zelda fans. There's a lot of background and history here. The nature of the story creates very interesting interactions between Link and the NPCs. Some people are wowed by him, some detest him, some want to fuck him.

It does a great job of having a story with a forward momentum while doing so in such a way to where it doesn't feel like a hurry, really. Like you have
Zelda fighting Ganon but she has been doing this for 100 years so just because you're tasked with helping-- you're obviously not in a great hurry because
this has been going on a long time already.

It's actually quite brilliantly conceived in relation to the open world take your time nature of the game.

My only complaint isthe weapons breaking so frigginly easy. Sometimes i go through 3 weapons to just down a couple of guys. Please tell me this gets better later...

Loving this game so far and cant put it down. Highlights for me so far are climbing Mount Hylia at the plateau and getting to the Central tower.

How do you guys feel about the dungeons in this game? Not shrines, but the actual dungeons?

I just finished the
Zora
dungeon and felt underwhelmed. It didn't have the feel of a dungeon from previous games. The boss was fantastic to fight, but I didn't like how it was
just a Ganon minion. I wanted something a bit more unique.
It also felt incredibly short.

To those who have beat more than 1, do the dungeons change this up at all?

This is the best Zelda game ever.

There, I said it.

Seriously, nothing comes close, not OoT, Zelda 1, ALTTP, not even outside of the Zelda serie. I don't think my english is good enough to express my feelings, I don't know enough words for total praise, it's insanely good. And I now understand why every review felt like a swooning love letter. I don't get how they can make something like this after the lackbuster (imo) Skyward Sword. Is it even the same dev team?

I haven't been playing this game, I have been watching my brother play this game, but I will say I have never felt this way about an open world game. I normally don't like them, nor do I care much about exploration in videogames, but this one made me care.

the motion control ball board puzzle at hantero village shrine or whatever...

I just want the world to burn. end my suffering

It's amazing how opposite to Skyward Sword it is. From hand holding to this.

I will say, the one thing I really do like in this game is that the world is fantastic. It's huge and varied and has lots of little nooks and crannies.
