Quick question to those that have used both the joycon grip and a Pro controller--is the Pro controller more comfortable to use for Zelda? Are the buttons/layout better, meaning the D-pad, etc? I still can't get used to the joycon button placement, and the controller feels a bit cramped when playing the game. I wish it was a bit wider or something, or at least able to swap buttons.

THought about getting a Pro, but they are damn expensive, and only for me to use for 1 game. It would be more convenient though, since I wouldnt' have to take the controllers of the Switch.
The Pro controller is much better, it's like one of the best controllers ever, easily worth the money imo, zero regrets buying it.

Well, I've discovered that I suck at riddles lmao.

I have decided to explore like three different regions instead of going East to Kakariko Village and I have encountered Kass three times. Two of which he has riddles. I'm pretty sure the first one is easy, I didn't bother to actually try to figure it out -- don't tell me anything about this one.

But the second one is on the Gerudo Tower and it talks about piercing something northwest and a prize will reveal itself. I tried to shoot an arrow at the sunset like how in Ocarina you shot an arrow at the sun in Lake Hylia to get Fire Arrows to appear but no dice. I don't really want a direct answer for this, but is this something I can really solve now with the tools I have or will there be another hint somewhere else I need to look for to figure this out?

Also, I found a third riddle up on a snowy mountain near Gerudo Desert where it talks about a pedestal and casting a cold shadow on it to reveal a shrine. Another riddle I can't really figure out and I couldn't be there long enough to do so because I didn't have enough cold resist foods and my Warm Doublet wasn't enough to keep me warm. I'm fairly certain I could solve this one if I just had more time but does this one involve using one of my Runes? At least tell me that much if you have encountered this same riddle.

Really the first time I've been stumped in a Zelda game for quite some time. But then again, it's so rare for me to encounter riddles so... I probably just suck at them lol.

I'm at the
Zora's Domain/lake elephant divine beast
and I feel woefully underpowered going in. Are there any locations nearby that holds "powerful" weapons? I feel I need to gear up before I tackle the challenge.

Huh, killing my first Guardian Stalker was easier than I thought it would be. I just got right under him and he couldn't do anything, LOL.

Granted I'm sure it helped that I used the axe from the
Muwo Jeem shrine
.

I'm loving just about everything about this game so far, but I've come across a few Shrines that want me to use motion controls to flip and rotate large platforms, and they are straight up terrible. Like, holy shit, it just does not work properly. Eventually I worked out that I should detach the JoyCons and just roll the right JoyCon around in my hand, but it feels awful. For all they talked up the new motion controls for this thing I figured it would just be an easy 1:1 thing, but as soon as you turn the thing upside down it just breaks completely.

Also, I'm sure I read a report about this game having some sort of HD Rumble, but I haven't felt anything more than a 90s cellphone buzz from either the JoyCons or the Pro Controller. Is there some kind of setting I need to turn on or something?

Weapon durability and the Shrine design don't mix, imo.

I had a shrine where I was shattering useful weapons to trigger a toggle. I'd also say the same of the
Divine Beasts and their boss battles
though I've only done the
Zora
one.

I like going into those scenarios knowing I have all of the tools I need to succeed. Those sections feel a little too freeform for my tastes. I had to practically everything I had in my pockets to defeat
phase 2 of the Ruta
boss, as I ran out of arrows.

You can fast travel to a village to buy weapons etc then travel back

Could you use bombs to flip the toggles?

It's not an annoyance in any way but I am not a huge fan of the fact that every weapon and shield breaking. Sometimes way too easily and soon too. I would have liked some special unique weapons that can't break at all. Kinda missing the "oh hell yeah, look at this awesome sword/bow/shield." feeling I have in games like TES. With this system in Zelda you never get... attached I guess, to any weapons.

That town has a couple of weapons lying around. I think 3? You should be able to manage if you stock up on health/defense food. Maybe one or two fairies just in case.

Should I give this dude my lone korok seed to expand my inventory or is there some reason to stack acquisition of the seeds for something better?

The
Zora town
, you mean? I think I'm going to go at and hit some more shrines as well.

I've got a unique quest weapon in my inventory and I'm thinking I can't use this. I'm not even sure it can break, but I haven't been given any indication otherwise.

Where is the
fairy fountain in Kokoriko?

If you're looking towards
Impa's residence it on your right. There's a mountain you can climb on the right, which is still just next to the village. You might see a cuccoo up there. If you head down the path you can see there should be a higher and lower path, and the fountain can by gotten to by following the lower path.

You do get a "OH YES" feeling when you get good weapons, since monsters later on have thousands of HP. A good weapon could mean the difference between life or death.

There's a shrine at Zora's Domain that involves guiding a ball to the goal (without letting it drop off into a bottomless abyss). I'm fine with getting it to the edge of the walkway, but I can't push it to the goal.

Any ideas with how to solve this?

Yup- I got a bow that was x3 better than any other basic bow at the start. Suddenly I could actually hunt and one shot goblins.

i will cry when it breaks

You need to use gravity to gain a bit of momentum. Don't forget to steer!

edit: wait never mind wrong shrine lol

There's
a slanted blockade just next to the goal. You want to get the ball to roll to that slanted blockade and stop it there with an ice block, then put another ice block under it so it rolls over the blockade and into the goal.

I'm not sure, but can check right when I start playing again today. Sorry I can't answer right away.
I think they do. I killed the lodged one in Eastern Abbey, returned another time to defeat the second one nearby and the first one was there again.

I like the organic enemies return during the blood moon but I'd rather Guardians stayed dead. Should be like a side quest, with a stated number of active Guardians and they're ticked off as you conquer them.

I'm immensely enjoying the game (playing on the Wii U). I'm just completely baffled as to why the gamepad isn't used for the map/inventory/switching between weapons. It would make the game so much more user friendly.

Just went out exploring and climbing towers. The variety of the world is amazing although I prefer the setting of the first two villages. I hope there a more villages like this.

Gonna repost this real quick because I'm sitting at the dialogue prompt unsure

Thought it was that
use it. If it breaks go back to the blacksmith behind the shop in Zora's domain and he'll fix it. You need the right ingredients though.

It can break, though it has high durability. The workshop guy below the throne room can reforge it if it breaks, though it requires a Diamond per reforge on top of a few Flint and a regular Zora Spear.

Thanks for telling me. I'm glad that's the case.

I used the stasis module. Worked as well. :)

A Zora asked me to dive
headfirst
from a waterfall....I already have the
Zora Armor
if it helps, but I've no idea how to do it.

You're right, this was utterly baffling. I was literally sitting with the gamepad in my lap thinking "ok, link has a gamepad. Mine will be used as a real life sheika slate." Nope.

Thanks Nintendo.

I'd give to him. There are tons of korok seeds. TONS. I have like 20 stockpiled for the next time I see that guy. I think that's all they are used for.

Today's word... is bird. I managed to find, enter and beat the bird Divine Beast dungeon.

You know a dungeon is going to be special when it starts with an aerial dogfight against the entire dungeon itself, then boarding it and taking it over from the inside, culminating in a boss fight that wouldn't feel out of place in a Souls game... Amusingly, I always expected Star Fox to be the game where you would fight the entire stage as a boss. Then Zelda got there first and started the dungeon with it. Well played!

And now Link can fly from a standstill. Oh yes. That will come in handy. No more looking for a way up, just hold X. I bet this will make some shrines amusingly short, too.
