Haha this is some funny shit. It concerns the arrow selling lady and chicken guy in Kakariko Village. I'll spoiler tag it to be sure.

The arrow selling lady wanted me to light a few torches. But I didn't want to waste fire arrows on that. So I equipped my Boko Club and lit it on fire and threw it at the torch, lit it on fire again, rinse and repeat. Once done I went back to her and she started bitching about how she wanted me to have used fire arrows to light them on fire and then started comparing me to her husband, the chicken obsessed guy and basically started talking a lot of shit about men.

My friend however DID use fire arrows and got a completely different conversation with her because of that.

I fucking love that the developer thought of all these little things. They clearly expected some players to do this in a different way, haha.

Yeah. He only played for about 5 minutes too. It just creates a whole new set of saves.

Game is great, but I don't know if I can handle repeating the first 10 hours so soon. Really bummed out about this.

That sucks man. :| Suggestion would be to maybe speed through the plateau and just head off in a direction you didn't before instead of following the main quest? I would have to give it a couple days if it were me though yeah.

I just finished my first traditional dungeon,
the elephant one
, and I'm blown away how polished the entire experience was.

When do I hear voice acting? I haven't heard any yet.

Open your eyes ears.

Or maybe your game is glitched? I've heard about that happening with the Wii U version, so look into that. But if you've started the game you should have heard at least one person's voice already.

That's insane. I used the fire arrows so that's crazy to hear.

Also, you should find the husband's house...

The two stables around the hyrule field area as I recall, as for where he goes after that, I wish I knew!

I've been questing to find the korok forest all day, just three more towers left to uncover in the hopes of finally finding it for unloading my 50 seeds!

...well that last bit sounds a bit crude.

End of
hylian river (north)
like he said.

There's a stable

Thanks guys. All the time so far I've only been in the south eastern corner of the map. Man this Game is so huge.

I summoned epona and then tried to go to a stable via fast travel and I can't get her to spawn again with my amiibo? Anyone else get an issue like this? I've savescummed the spawn 20+ times now and no epona.

Wheres the guy who revives horses?

I think your screwed out of Epona unless you have a save from before you spawned epona the first time, or you start a whole new game. Epona only spawns from the Amiibo once and you have to ride to a stable the normal way without fast travel. It's very dumb but that's Nintendo.

Drop a wood bundle on the floor, set it on fire, instant campfire.
Not sure you can cook outside of designated spots though, best you can do with a campfire is drop apples and raw meat into them.

since i'm anticipating follow up questions...
- Wood bundles come from trees, chop or blast one down and then blow up the fallen trunk to get wood bundle
- Fire from either flaming weapons or clashing a metal weapon with flint rocks.

I see i tried holding a flint and wood and dropping it but that wouldn't work so thought i maybe had to learn it. Thanks anyway.

Done playing now for the weekend recon i have about 25+ hours in since getting it early on Friday. Only did one divine beasts so far and have i would say just less than half the map uncovered. Loving it so far and think it may be the best zelda game for me which would put it into my top 5 games ever as OoT was in my top 5.

Really should have taken Monday off in work now so i could play much more tomorrow.

Can someone list what sidequests are required to unlock the
jewel theft in Kakariko village
? I think i'm missing something.

The person who created the Mirro Shaz Shrine should be shot out of a cannon into the sun.

Did anyone beat the optional puzzle in this shrine yet? It's the only one I didn't manage to complete so far.

I tried to hack it
by bringing the ball to the first puzzle
, but it feels like this is the first shrine so far that doesn't allow for alternate solutions.

What to do in the shrine with a small bomb shaped hole above? Its close to a
great fairy flower
and not far from kakariko

I have a question about getting Epona.
I've seen that you can get her by scanning the SSB Link Amiibo, but is there anywhere else you can find her in the game without it? A simple yes or no is good, I don't need the exact location.

I used regular arrows and lit them using the fire in front of the statue. No mention of fire arrows in the conversation after that at all!

Did you drop flint close to the wood and then hit the flint with a metal weapon? And also it can't be raining.

When you first turn the game on....

You mean aside from the first few seconds of the game, right? ;)

After the first 4 shrines there's a pretty lengthy cutscene.

Open your eyes ears.

Or maybe your game is glitched? I've heard about that happening with the Wii U version, so look into that. But if you've started the game you should have heard at least one person's voice already.

Ok I'm about 15-20 hrs into the game. And I haven't heard Voice Acting since the plateau training area that I remember. Do normal conversations have voice acting or only cut scenes? Do the people in villages have voice acting? or the main leader people in different towns?

My mom has like zero interest in video games but since Friday she's been asking me how Zelda is, and actually wanted to see it! When I showed her she was really amazed and I've never seen her remotely care about a game before this.

You can buy products and look at the recipe...

Is he really running? Seems awfully slow, that almost make me want to boot GTA V, I didn't remember moving being so slow.

And Zelda is 140 square miles, no? It's 360 square kilometers, if I'm not mistaken. Taking into account the difference of motion, 33min / 44min doesn't seem that surprising...
It's running with holding X, seems slower in first person. He can sprint by tapping but so can Link in Zelda but the video makers didn't sprint in either games.

So I figured out an alternative way to solve one of the shrines (Sorry if it's been discovered already):

In the shrine Myahm Agana in Hateno Village, instead of rolling the ball through the maze, you can just rotate the platform to its side and have the ball spawn on the side. Then you can roll it down the side like a ramp and 'flip' the platform up at the end to clear the gap.

Wii U here and all the VO is gone.
I had the first two..the king and the old lady in the village. Now every cut scene is subtitle only.

When do I hear voice acting? I haven't heard any yet.

If you have the Wii U version, I've heard having the sound set to Surround Sound makes the voice acting silent.

Edit:

Why does it rain so much in this game

Does Hyrule take place in Florida

LOL! You should have heard me yesterday every time it rained while I was trying to get to the next tower in my quest to unlock all towers before even heading to the Zora area. I'm pretty sure it rained 66% of the time or more. And it would always be as I was in the middle of trying to climb a mountain...

Make an account for your mother on the console so she can have her own save file :D

Time to make a profile for mom...

I can confirm this..spawned in. Horse got away from me and figured id have to wait 24 hours like the other amiibos.

24 hours later, scan him in....pants and fruit.

Why am i still playing this game?

Guys! Feed the stable dogs lots of food!

Once it started following me around, I decided to feed it one more drumstick. It got super happy, ran to the entrance, and sat waiting for me. I ran to it, and it left the village, then sat again in the forest. THIS BITCH IS CURRENTLY LEADING ME THROUGH THE WOODS! I haven't found out why yet. I'm just freaking out that I stumbled upon this mechanic! What is it, boy? Is Timmy in the well?!

The sense of discovery of this game is magnificent.

yup I have the guide book and that is a good thing to do lol

Btw, my girlfirend is also enjoying the game very much. She even has started her own game and is a huge fan of the hunting and cooking and everything that is involved in doing that.

I also tried to show her OoT nad Wind Waker in th past, but she didn't like these. So this is indeed the real deal :-)

It's funny when you need a blood moon to appear so you can get a specific thing to appear, it never fucking does. I've been using all of my flint to make this shit appear and it won't.

Any tips? I know it's supposed to be midnight but it's almost like the desire sensor knows I want it to appear and now it won't

You dont have to use the fire arrows, you can just pull your bow near a torch and the tip of the arrow will catch on fire

About 16 hours in, have all the areas east and south uncovered and havent done my first dungeon yet. Not sure if I should go do it or not, but like how the game lets me decide when I want to progress teh story.

This game is no lies brilliant. The THINGS i have seen!!! The world is so massive and packed with stuff to interact with.

Exploring this world is muchlike plating WoW solo. Really having some flashbacks to my vanila days.

That's funny because I had the blood moon appear 3 nights in a row once... :-/

How did this game get nearly perfect scores when it has such horrible framerate.

Zelda is not getting a pass simply because it is Zelda. Reviewers just valued the game design more. Also, when reviewing a game, you are comparing it to other games in the genre not to some idealized perfect state that doesn't exist. Most reviewers feel that Zelda is doing things better than other open world games hence the high score to reflect that viewpoint. Scores are comparative to what is currently available on the market. Just because Ocarina of time is 99 on Metacritic doesn't mean it would receive that same score today. Just because Zelda BTOW is 98 on MC doesn't mean it is perfect. Tons of AAA games that had inconsistent frame rates and have gotten great scores.
