Can we talk about the Zora's for a bit? (story spoilers)
This was the first time that Link's
failure 100 years ago hit me. There were real repercussions. When other races helped you in past Zelda games, the fate of the champion or sage wasn't really an issue. This time you experience the anger and sadness of the Zora's after you "took away" their beloved Princess Mipha and her death resulting from the failed plan to stop Ganon.
I was shocked to see that many
Zora's outright detested him. I'm used to people either not giving a shit about me or knowing who I was and then treating me like some kind of deity. But there were some Zoras that couldn't stand the sight of Link, and were doubly hurt when Link couldn't remember anything about the Zoras or Mipha.
It was also bittersweet
running into many Zoras that Link grew up and played with in their youth, only for him to not remember them. I hate "lost memories" stories precisely because of these kinds of situations.
the anger Mipha's tutor has towards all Hylians, using Link's failure as justification. It felt real. There are a lot of poignant moments in interacting with those characters. The King who is clearly saddened but has a duty to more than his daughter, the Prince who treats Link like a brother. It's really well done - it's rare that I emphatize with characters that much.
It's not hard. It's tedious. There's a difference.
I'd rather the combat was actually difficult rather than just jumping out the way then spamming x. if the game was balanced so the difficulty came from what you did in battle rather than worrying about inventory management and durability it'd be a lot better. I love everything about the game except the combat.
Just got my game and switch, what's the consensus on the best experience? Tv screen or handheld.
I booted it up first on my curved 4K and was sad to see there was no optical out. After playing for a few, I tried the switch screen and everything just looks better?
The motto for this game should be "use everything". Use your special arrows, your elixirs, your weapons, whatever. Nothing you will ever find is really so useful that you should ever risk death rather than consuming such items.
The Ceremonial song, I can't get the shrine to spawn. I've got both the ceremonial and light scale trident, but neither one of them will trigger the damn shrine. I've swam to the top of the waterfall over a dozen times. What am I doing wrong?
give me a high level of flame-resistance? I got some fish at the Zora's Domain but it's not enough to get through Eldin to get to where the Goron's live.

You need to plunge the trident into the mark with an aerial spike (think Smash Bros down-A). Float down until you're maybe 5 feet over the "bullseye" of the pad and press Y while still gliding.

It's a shame the voice acting can't live up to it because while it's serviceable, it's disappointing that there's much much better voicing in other versions. I'd love an Undub.

after going after all the memory cutscenes was a fantastic moment of reminiscence. I love when games do that before the final fight.

It has 5 in stamina and the old man who wanted me to catch it gave me a royal saddle. It's Zelda's horse! When you ride it you can hear the original Zelda theme played on violin!
So, after activating a bunch of towers and mapping out a good portion of Hyrule, I FINALLY found
the Master Sword. I thought I could temporarily increase my max hearts to get to the 13 I needed to pull it out, but NOPE that doesn't work. Looks like it's time I really began tackling those shrines.
That aside, the whole build-up to me finding it was magical.
I entered the Lost Woods and found myself constantly teleported to the entrance. Thanks to a comment from someone here earlier, I knew what I had to do with the torches and follow the direction of the embers to get through it.
The atmosphere and environment being what they were as I left the woods was amazing. Walking up to the sword felt so magical.

I've been pretty forgiving with the framerate drops but there's been some spots in Akkala where it really grinds to a halt. Worst I've encountered so far.
I have the complete opposite issue, I'm about 20 hours in and just did the zora dungeon and I have too many good weapons and have to pass up good stuff just because everything I have is awesome..
I've been killing lots of enemies so I tend to go through my nice weapons. E.g., I just did the two difficult combat shrines off the coast near Hantero. Each one ate a couple of good weapons.
yeah that's been the high point of the game for me so far.
starting with meeting Prince Sidon for the first time and then making your way up to Zora's Domain through the conclusion of the dungeon, boss, and return to Zora's Domain.
and of course all of that is heightened by the fact that the game actually makes me feel like I'm on an adventure in a huge world. really personalizes the story for me.
was long and arduous and that was maybe 25% of the region? So much unexplored areas afterwards. Its mindbogglingly massive.
I had to take refuge twice. I felt so cozy taking shelter next to a campfire during a torrential downpour. I was like "I'm gonna wait it out until morning" and instead of fast forwarding time, I just spent about 5-10 minutes sitting in place taking in the sights. What an adventure.

I couldnt blame the tutor at all. I understood the elder's anger and I felt a little shame myself. It was also sad that the King had a small hope that she would still be there and would return somehow, someway. You poor thing ;_;
I loved these characters so much. I cant imagine what the next 3 dungeons have in store for me.
Wait is the weapons shining ti signify they are in top condition new? I haven't seen that before?
Also I just got my first thunderstorm after well over 3 days of play.
A guy at the stables commented how the Eastern side is always rainy so it looks like that's where people are being annoyed by it ruining their mountain climbing. Must be dryer in the West.
My arrows phase right through it and I think I aiming at eyeballs but i think the textures haven't loaded and I can walk through the model. My game is glitching hardcore.
Where is the dude after you meet him on the road? I haven't been everywhere in the game yet, obviously, but directions from Kakariko or Hateno would be welcome, even if it's just general like "northeast of there on the map". I know the guy mentioned something about a forest but i don't remember the name.
