Im going hearts all the way, there are foods you can cook to restore stamina while in the middle of climbing or swimming.

I put two points in stamina and am happy to keep it there. Saves me some food usage on climbs and helps with both sprinting longer, swimming longer, and taming wilder horses.

That said, I don't see the need to go beyond that, max. Right now I feel a bit freer to impulsively explore without considering my food reserves, but have a lot of room for heart upgrades.

You didn't have to kill it BTW. You could have shot it in the eye, grabbed the orb, and run. I waited until I finished and had all my stuff before killing it.

Also, I loved that island. I just wish they had taken away my abilities too. Bombs were OP.

This island is killing me lol - thought it was Necluda Island for some reason. Was almost done and died to a chuchu jelly. How do you get the sphere off him? Just attack him if you fly on top of him?

There's this trial quest that involves heat.. a lot of it. By the end of it, I wasn't even sure if I was doing anything by equipping heat-resist gear and eating heat-resist food. Just spammed consumables  Can anyone confirm if this is the intended solution (or just having more health) and my resistance actually meant squat or if there is some other way? Appreciate as vague an answer as possible!

When you say heat, does that include your fire resistance gear?

The first one I found did that, but each subsequent one did absolutely nothing and I did everything I could think of to them (except blow them with a leaf attack).

See, it was the opposite for me - the first few I didn't notice anything at all, but then I found one that gave balloons, and the next few did also.

I assumed I just wasn't paying attention, but maybe there's an environmental factor?

A question on a Hateno shrine quest
A woman told me to go up to the
three trees at the snowy mountain, and when three trees are unified as a line, turn my back and walk towards the sea, when I traveled all the way to the sea I only saw a stone cave and a seed puzzle where you roll a stone into a hole
Just need a yes or no here, am I close to the shrine?

The way I have been approaching enemy camps and messing with the guards, weapons, ai, environment, horse, and weather systems is so much like mgsv, it's not even funny. Especially when being able to go anywhere you see and approach areas as you see fit. All my opinion, of course.
The only real similarity I've noticed was getting to one of the Awakening Towers in the north in the middle of
a training camp for Bokoblins and Moblins
. I've spent at least 2 hours scoping this place out to find the best way to get in without causing too much of a ruckus. My goal is to completely fill the map out before doing more story stuff, so that means I'm pretty undergeared for most areas, so I rely on stealth a whole bunch. It feels a lot like either MGSV's or Far Cry 3/4's outpost infiltrations, but without the massive toolsets those games give you.

Boomerang feels so good in this game.

Nah, better armor is slow to come for most folks. You just have to adjust and be more cautious after leaving. Once you hit a village you will be able to improve thata bit. Good armor is scarce in general compared to most games.

Save bokoblin horns.

Thanks! haven't reach village yet but got to stable with no money, should I just sell Opal & etc?

Oh damn, do you start from the beginning if you die? I noticed it wasn't letting me save.

He wears the orb around his neck. Shoot him in the eye with an arrow, and he'll fall down. Run really quick and grab it from his front side.

This is so wrong considering it has one of the greatest horses in videogames. I don't think we should derail the thread anymore but if you guys can't see how similar messing with the AI and enemy encampments are, especially now there is steath, alert states and environmental hazzards, I don't know what else to say. No more mgs talk now. Sorry.

No sorry, you are talking about completely different things. Nothing about the actual act of exploring and moving through the world is any way resembling MGSV. BotW is actually on the completely opposite end here.

The
Vah Naboris divine beast
dungeon is such a pain in the butt. Literally doesn't make any sense. I don't want to do this area anymore.

Are the other
three
dungeons similar in design?
Do you have to rotate them as well? Because if so, then ugh.

Yeah sell gems early on. And monster parts if you need to, but keep maybe 20-30 monster parts on you for armor upgrades once you have access to that.

Yeah I agree. MGSV is pretty great as an open world game. I think BOTW beats in scope, but that doesn't mean it wasn't great.

Plus D-Horse handles a lot better than the horses in this game do IMO

I don't think MGSV is great as an open world game at all. It's great as a scenario based game with instanced mission which benefit from taking place in the sandbox design of the open world.

The actual open world (ie free roam exploration) is probably the worst thing about the game. It just shows how disjointed and disconnection the main game design is from everything else. You can't even seamlessly queue mission after mission in the open world without returning to base.

And MGSV was my GOTY for 2015.

Given how many enemies one shot me, I'm definitely going to start getting heart containers.

I put my first two sets of shrinebucks into stamina thinking that was most important, but so many enemies do so much damage the need for more hearts became apparent rather quickly. I don't regret the extra stamina, though, it's been indispensable.

I think I'd recommend exploring and doing a lot of shrines and taking 2 or 3 stamina ups and then focusing on hearts (at least for a while).

Cleared my first dungeon today, though I think it was intended to be the last one. I was surprised by how complex it was despite the relatively small size, I got stumped on what to do next more than I expected. I'll be very pleased if all the dungeons turn out to be big multilayered puzzles like this. (Boss spoiler)
Thunderblight Ganon
was surprisingly tough, especially since all the weapons I had on me were slow and he was so fast.

After that I decided to try to figure out how to get into Death Mountain next and started going around the perimeter looking for...something. Ended up finding the Lost Woods, which I tried to brute force but could not figure out. BotW's version is more difficult to navigate than any other game's.

I also found the Forest of Darkness (not sure if this is its actual name, but it's a dark forest), where
I thought it was hilarious that they put the ball you need to find around a fucking Hinox's neck. Meaning you have to fight a boss in the dark. I love how mean this game is sometimes.

Then I wandered into some mountains in the north and found a Lynel. And holy shit, what a badass enemy. I didn't realize how good this game's combat is until I had to git gud to stand a chance against this thing. Hope there're more fights like that hidden around.

Yeah, i'm definitely not talking about exploring. Sorry for confusion . Just saying the way i use the horses and mess with the enemies and sandbox is more like mgs to me than things like AssCreed or Farcry

Strategy Guide states that on the in-game map screen it is suppose to show a percent completion, but in my game there is no such thing. I am still early in the game, is anyone's in game map showing a percent complete like the guide suggests?

Thanks

Can anyone take a few seconds to check for this? I want to make sure something is not wrong.

I would have done this but I never found any goddamn arrows on the island. I'll have to farm a gerblin Archer

Anyone know where I can find Electric Keese? I remember seeing a buncha them at osme point, but I need the wings for crafting. Also need to get myself a bunch of Hyrule Bass, anyone sell them?

Do all shrines have treasure chests inside? I have seen some that apparently has without one and I just want to back in there if everything truly has at least one treasure chest. A bit of completionist itch lol.

Is there one of the 4 areas that is easier to tackle first? I am going
Zora
but had a hard time with the "low" level combat shrine near by lol

Seconded. There's plenty of 3-heart-doable content you can find with a couple stam upgrades. Extra stam is just a nice QoL benefit.

No, not all. At least I don't think so. If they all do I've been pretty shitty at finding them.

I drank a stealth elixir and just jumped on him to get the ball.

The horse in MGSV builds on things established by SotC and RDR. Which in turn built on the connection between player and horse in OoT.

Can someone help please. I'm very early into the game so it isn't a spoiler really.

At the top of a tower and I'm told to mark a few spots but I can't tell what I'm supposed to be marking. I see a few things but marking them doesn't seem to do anything. The guy on the tower next to me is no help. I'm clearly missing something obvious.

Thanks.

I saw them pretty frequently when going around the desert at night. Though I'm not sure if there's a specific area where they show up in a big group.

Game doesn't hold your hand, mark those 3 orange things and set off. The old man isn't going to reply further.

Marking them via your scope doesn't do anything except make new symbols on your map. Are you not seeing those symbols show up on your menu map?

Click the right analog stick to open a camera-like feature. When you find a certain structure like a shrine or tower target it and place a pin on it. It will appear on your mini-map as well as your whole map to see how far that area is and the direction of that spot.

You don't need to mark anything if you don't want to.

It is not spoiler. But, what you are looking for using your scope is the 3 remaining shrines. You mark them and then go to them.

I dunno, I really liked exploring that game a lot, I had a lot of fun just checking out the world and the gameplay usually made it a pretty rewarding experience IMO

This really does seem like the Zelda everyone has been pinning for:

-Huge explorable world that is full of little details.
-Much better difficulty. It's not Souls, but it's not super easy a la TP and SS.
-Some lively great towns and NPCs

I know this game is getting well reviewed, but it's different when you play it yourself.
