Ugh, after Ruta, I'm getting destroyed by everything.
All my weapons are breaking, I used up most my food because of Lynel and ice blocks and strength tests.

Now everything hits for 3.75 Hearts...
I'm running out of Arrows too...

Gahhhh

Sigh, it really says alot when you google an obscure ingredient in this game and this thread comes up with your response.

Literally nobody knows where these damn Smotherwing butterflies are.

I just got some.
I think it was close to the Goron area/volcano.

This game is so awesome. May very well be my favorite zelda game of all time.

Aesthetic is great, Combat is great, OST is great, and the amount of things to do is seriously staggering.

The more I play the more I love it.

Docking question.

After the patch I noticed a better performance, but still the occasional framerate dips would occur at random places. So, I tried changing the settings to output 720p to my TV instead of automatic, which was scaling it up to 1080p. Could be the placebo effect, but I swear it ran better docked when I did this. After all, the native resolution of the Switch is 720p and it runs the best in portable mode. Any one else try messing with the settings in dock mode like me?

Hey guys, so I just got to
Kakariko Villge
, and considering there's a shrine here that teaches me
comabt techniques like backflip and sidestep and parry
, then this is still fairly early in the game?

Just scoping out my progress.

I have no idea what people are complaining about with the motion control puzzle. I did the early one and solved it in like my second try. It was nice to see that Switch motion controls are so precise.

The L
ynel seems like it can be mounted... at two points during my fight with one I dodged while he was charging at me, let go of the Z targetting and saw a ''Mount'' prompt... Took me by surprise so I didn't manage to do it in time

I will watch out the next time I fight one, see if its actually possible.. It would be sick

Yes, and it's better since your weapon doesn't degrade as much.

It's early, yeah. But with this being open world and you being able to do anything in any order and go anywhere then you could just end up there after 50 hours.

But yeah, that place should be the first town you get to if you just follow the main quest. Still very early in the game.

You guys ended up being right. It's just really weird, because I couldn't actually throw any of the rocks far enough from the bridge, so I made an ice platform below and threw from there.

Some of them are like that, I've found at least one other that I needed an ice platform to hit.

Activated my first tower post Plateau. The Gerudo area. Was exploring the cold peaks to the north of it. Got a triblade boomerang. That's cool. I would have liked to keep exploring up there—was trying to find a shrine to quick travel back later, but I ran out of cold resistance and had nowhere to cook. While up there I killed a stal moblin with some 45 power weapon, more than double anything I'd seen to that point. I could have sworn I picked it up, but when i tried to equip it a bit later I could not find it. I don't remember what it was. A spiked something. Still found a blizzard rod and the boomerang, though.

Anyone else head this was first? I tell ya, the wolves are horrible to fight. You can't lock on target then so melees get pretty finicky. Usually I just drop a bomb while running away and activate it as they charge me. Bombs are my lifesaver in these dangerous areas.

Wait...what? I need to try that next time I see one. That was a hell of a fight the first time I encountered one

I feel like this is a one and done game. It takes so long to get going and the mechanics are so tedious that I can't see myself every replaying it again. Meanwhile I will play the other Zelda's many times over.

Fire Rod. Drop wood and flint on the ground near each other and strike it with a metal object. Stike Fire/Red Chu Jelly maybe?

dropping chu chu jellys next to fire turns them into red chu jelleys as well. I chill my chu chus in freezing water to get white chuchus and use them to insta kill fire wizzrobes. I'm too poverty to ever use my ice arrows.

Neat, yah I spent a decent amount of time between the Great Plateau and the Dueling Peaks. Also the area right after the second stable on the road to Kakariko.

God. It's so huge and the world is so amazing I really just want it to never end.

At this point I'm not convinced the game does end.

I've seen a couple circles made of rocks. On a beach and near zoras domain. Anyone know what they are for?

Tight circles are basketball hoops, bigger circles with like, a gap in them might need something to plug the gap.

Is there any sort of Item storage? I really don't want to run around with a ton of rare weapons when I'm just scouting the place.

You can buy a house in Hateno Village for 3,000 rupees. It comes with one melee weapon rack for storage, and you can have up to three for melee weapons, bows, and shields (costs 100 rupees for each rack).

After a weekend my spouse and I playing this, I just gotta say how much I love the no hand holding in this game. The shedding of traditional Zelda mechanics really makes you realize how much they were ingrained into us over the years.

There are definite echos of the WW/TP/SS handholding though. Like fairies reminding you every time that there are set bonuses, or stable masters reminding you that horses have stamina.

But yeah, for the most part it's just "go, do whatever, there are tips on the loading screen if you like" and it's great.
