About those woods..light spoilers

light a torch and let it guide you. There's a few things to do there

It seemed natural to go there next, but the fog kept swallowing me up. Guess i wasnt thinking it through, as it makes it pretty clear that a torch is important.

Is there a larger single player open world game than this? I've played for 35 hours now, still have seven regions to "unlock" on the map, have only finished one dungeon, but have made meaningful progress in the game throughout my 35 hours of playtime . This game is unreal. I just completed a tower above
water. It was full of electric wizzrobes and electric lizalfos.
. It was insane!

What a game.

So I guess I'm kinda trying to control my exploration. I'm still really early, just off the Plateau and every time I see a new place that looks interesting I steer myself back towards what looks like the main path to
Kakariko
. I guess I'm sticking to the main quest. How advisable is this really? Are there some directions it's helpful to go in early on?

do you know the 4th(?) location where he'll be?

1 being where you initially meet him
2
being the stable south of Hyrule castle
3 being another stable further west, i believe

honestly I had no idea he showed up in those other two places, the only other place I ever saw him at is, ironically, what I was helping the other guy with in my last post ;)

I have to talk about this. Kind of early location and character stuff.

SHEIKAH VILLAGE. SHEIKAH VILLAGE WITH ACTUAL SHEIKAH. I'VE WANTED THAT FOR YEARS.

Also PAYA IS CUTE

It's insane to me that so many people went to
the Zora domain
first. I just flew off the plateau and made my way to the twin peaks. After 20 hours of aimlessly exploring I ended up somehow in
Rito Village
and did my first main story quest there.

I went toward the desert first. A lot of canyon climbing too.

huh. totally missed that. I thought the camera was just for some miiverse bullshit, or maybe a sidequest I hadn't gotten to yet. alright then. so I should be taking pictures of enemies? that's dumb. and what happens when you take pictures of treasure boxes?

For it to work, you must upgrade your Sheika Slate.
Basically talk to Symin in the Hateno laboratory to find out all you need to know about the system.
All you need is take a picture where the camera will recognize the monster/item by name and it will register it automatically. You can delete the pic afterwards to get more photo space.

The thing will just be more of a detector than a tracker, just like what it does for shrines. It senses nearby presence of the compendium entry you assigned for it to detect.

Okay, I played another... 4 or 5 hours I guess tonight ?

The weapon durability thing ceases being much of an issue very quickly. Yes, you will find good stuff that will still break but get better at dodging enemies and timing flurry attacks AND never attacking enemies with weapons above their weight class are all good ideas.

As well, the game pretty much tells you to make elixirs and good meals to prepare for various areas in the game , combine that with the right weapon at the right time and you really never have to worry much.

Honestly my only small issue right now is that I broke my hammer and I haven't tried very hard to find another one.

I also need some fire arrows but I can get them from bokoblins in the starting area if I really need to. The genius of the weapon system being what it is - you can make things easier at the expense of making things harder later or keep the difficulty at a steady ramp up and just use whatever enemies drop against them. Bokoblins - moblins, Lizardlins , etc, it's all a steady ramp up and their equipment will gradually push you ahead.

Years ago I didn't think I'd enjoy a new Zelda title that managed to be this open much but I'm very glad to be proven wrong , this isn't just a breath of the wild , it's a breath of fresh air for the whole franchise for the first time since Link to the past came out (Majora being the single exception to the norm with every zelda game since).

I know it's not for everyone out there , many little things will continue to bug some people through this entire game I think but I've grown to love it quite a bit and had to force myself to put it down tonight.

It's insane to you that lots of people went to the objective right next to them than the one on the other side of the map?

Towards the end of the game and finally made my way to Hyrule Castle towards the end of the game.

Getting to Ganon without exploring much seems pretty easy. I didn't go into the room. Had to look up the location of the Hylian Shield. Was kind of annoying to find.

Also Zelda's diary is super interesting. I love how they gave a canon reason why Link is usually silent.

You can stick to the main quest but it wont be long till it opens up and will send you to wander around.

This game is just too much...

"Okay going to the main quest marker"
"Oh! A shrine... let's do that!"
"Hm, need to find the tower"
"Those rocks over there look weird, I bet it's a Korok seed puzzle"
"There's something I can mine..."
"Oh another shrine!"

"Oh wow, a village. There goes two hours of my life"

did the second upgrade to my armor. Now I guess I gotta go find the other
fairy fountains
and see what materials I'll need for that. I'll only focus on the ones I actually use for combat, particularly the sneak and the knight armor.

edit: how many times can you upgrade armor? Do I assume 3/4 times total?

It's really easy to get sidetracked in this game, especially if you have some completionist itch.

Feel like I'm hitting a power creep now, just took down a Major Shrine only getting hit once and only broke one weapon. Beserk Gear, Fried Banana Recipe from Rito and a Great Icesword made quick work.

I apparently haven't experienced this game like most people. Just flew off the Plateau, saw a Shrine and then it escalted from there.

I will say that if you haven't done that area yet you should.

you get a free revive every 30 minutes or so. Pretty useful, especially if you're dumb like me and die often.

Do the main quest up until the objectives branch off. Also go ahead and do the sheikah slate stuff first.

For those that have traversed like the really cold places, did you buy more cold resistance gear? I know you can find mushrooms that are better than peppers, but I only found them inside the really cold places lol.

Yeah, or you can actually hold a Great Flamesword (or torch) and it keeps you warm. A Flamesword will actually melt the ice if you just stand next to it haha.

Spoiler for where to find cold gear:
the Rito village in the Mid West or buy a Cold Head Accessory from the Gerudo in the South West after completing their divine. Warm doublet from discovering the cooking recipe and getting it from the old man on the Plateau.

I've already done the flying divine beast. I feel good already about my skills and abilities since leaving the plateau so there is no rush.

I don't even have the Shieka Slate update, the memories quest or seen that Korok Seed dude. Need to find that dude soon.

I went there and read the diary (long-winded but very enjoyable!) and talked to the robot. Didn't know what to do there so l just left... :(

I literally just powered through. After all that dodging, I want leaving until I activated the tower. I found the highest point I could and glided over and climbed.
