something that never fails to mess me up. When you're on foot go fast is B. When you're on a horsey go fast is A. When you're in the water go fast is X. Dammit Nintendo!

I've been avoiding combat when possible since I just don't enjoy it with how fast weapons break, how little arrows you typically have, how fast you die, etc. It just isn't fun to fight on here for me. Because of this, I have now accepted that I will almost assuredly not beat nor attempt to beat the game.

There are definitely several things about the game that frustrate me, so I don't know exactly HOW long I'll play it (been at it probably 10-12 hours now), but there's a lot I think is amazing about it, too. The best thing about this game is the world. It not only actively encourages but also rewards complete exploration of every nook and cranny. There's so much to see and explore and that's AWESOME. It makes you wonder how in the world they did so much with such a massive world.

I love stumbling on a location just because it looks kind of interesting and it ends up being really important and opens up several side quests. That kind of thing is amazing.

The story means literally nothing to me and feels paper thin, but I will say there are a lot of cool NPCs in the game, often with some really funny dialogue. I like talking to everyone.

Anyway, those are just some rambling thoughts of a Zelda noob.

I literally just powered through. After all that dodging, I want leaving until I activated the tower. I found the highest point I could and glided over and climbed.
That's where I'm at now. I went through all the trouble to get up here. No way I'm leaving til I activate this Tower... then I ended up leaving smh. I guess I can try to climb through the parts that aren't too thick.

Alright, so I'm at Eventide, but when moving the big slab of rock, the orb at the top was knocked off the mountain into the ocean. I managed to pull it out, but now I have no idea how to get it back onto the mountain, as it seems the only way to get up is by climbing, and I can't carry the orb up top. I've spent almost an hour trying to figure out how.

Please help.

I'm surprised of the power/difficulty scaling in this game. Not sure what the exact trigger is (probably the number of shrine) but there's more and more powerfull enemies in the world, well mostly camps.
White Bokoblins are even at the plateau now, they drop rare mineral but have 720 hp.

On a similar note (probably once you find X different equipments) I mostly drop equipment with special attributes now. Like Durability Up, Critical Hit, Attack Up, Quick Shot, etc there's even multiple version for each kind of buff.

It's really great to keep things entertaining.

Go back around the island with it to reach the path up.

Might be able to do something janky with metallic boxes building a wall or barriers up the mountain to throw the orb into.

Made it through Vah Ruta's dungeon tonight. Good dungeon considering how compressed the space was. I think this was my first major dungeon. The puzzles were definitely way more satisfying than the shrines.
Waterblight Ganon
wasn't too bad, though I cheesed the last phase with arrows.

I'm actively throwing weapons away. Not sure how people are having a hard time finding them.

I don't have a hard to finding them. I just think it's insane that I can pick up this cool sword, go into a little camp with four or five bokoblins, and my sword breaks before I even finish them off. Like, what kind of crappy sword would do that? It's counterproductive to the gameplay to be breaking weapons so quickly mid-confrontation.

A cool sword would destroy 4 or 5 bokoblins without sweat. If it's new and broke during the encounter then that's not a cool sword at all :p

Those enemies drop weapons you know. Sometimes even more powerful than the one you're using.

Alright, I'm stuck in the (north of Hyrule Castle)
Lost Woods
. I've gotten to the checkpoint with the two torches but I can't seem to figure out which way to go next. Previously I was following
the direction of the wind blowing the embers
but that doesn't seem to be working this time. Any ideas?

nvm I figured it out

So I'm starting to come to terms with the weapon durability (although I still find it a little jarring when a metal sword breaks after killing 3-4 squishy enemies...) but the limited amount of weapons I can carry started to annoy me even more.

Let's just say I finally found out what the
Korok
Seeds
are used for. It's really, really hard to find anything wrong with this game. This is definitely worth buying a Switch for and I'm glad I did.

Nintendo knocked this one out of the park.

lol. Fair enough. Feels like every sword I've gotten so far has been that way, though.

I know. I just think combat would be a lot more fun if you could go into an enemy encounter with the weapon/weapon combo you have and fight through it without having to worry about your weapon breaking every time during the encounter and picking a new one or picking one up. I understand that my frustrations aren't everybody's frustrations, but MAN are they frustrating to me.

Ah man I gotta mount this lynel weapon and sheild set. These guys are a blast to fight if you are prepared for the encounter. Took these guys forever to get into the 3D games.

Has anyone beaten the Forgotten Temple?

I wouldn't say 'beat' so much as dodged and glided my way through it. Great little surprise to find, like so many other things.

Without spoilers, there is a shrine quest that is activated on finding a particular shrine that cannot be accessed straight away, and I loved the little bit of story required to get in. So many fantastic touches in this game.

It's such a pity that many gamers will overlook just how substantial some of the side-content is, especially some of the better hidden ones.

Game is amazing. If I had to fault it on anything Id say its really obvious how much the control scheme relied on the the gamepad before they neutered it for Switch. So much back and forth with menu changes and switching items.

A lot of Zelda games are like this. Try playing Link's Awakening. lol

yeah, it sucks that Nintendo was all "check out how much better the menu being on a touch screen makes The Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess!!.... see ya"

"See that mountain, you can climb it..."
I don't understand. Are you saying you've been there?

Ok so I've just been chilling out in zora domain and I noticed that there is a woman "doo doo"ing the music, its very beautiful, also to mention zoras domain
especially when it stops raining
is a absolutely stunning place and landmark in general and I can really see the no monolithsoft influence

Pretty decent, and one thing to note is that
if I remember right, the more you kill of a certain type of enemy, the more often stronger variations of that enemy will spawn
That spoiler part actually just opened my eyes and made me realize it

I accidentally ended up on Eventide Island, and I only had one heart upgrade and one stamina upgrade. Somehow, I managed to beat it in one try. I almost died a couple of times, but I pulled it off.

A couple of funny events:

-In the middle of the challenge I got a blood moon. Great.
-A storm showed up as I was approaching the enemy mob at the top of the hill. I was contemplating how to take out the blue Moblin with my crappy arsenal and, as luck would have it, he was struck by lightning! I was able to dispatch every other enemy up there without too much issue.
-I went for a bomb strategy when fighting the Hinox. I noticed that it had trouble making its way past a hill on the right, so I just cheesed him there lol.

A very memorable side quest, if I do say so myself.

This game is too much. I've never played a game where everything seemed so natural. It gives off the best sense of "freedom" I've ever encountered in game. I mean I realize it's all been mapped out and developed by Nintendo, but the sense of illusion it gives the player of discovery and creativity is unmatched in video games. When I discover a shrine, town, Korok, etc, it feels like such a unique experience. It's MY adventure, done MY way.

Fuck yeah, Eventide cleared. Probably would've enjoyed it more if I didn't spend so much time trying to figure out how to get the ball up.

End game spoilers?

I can confirm that it seems like they
allow you to walk up to Ganon... but maybe because I haven't done any of the actual main quests, I have to fight four of these fools... had I not been killed by the fire one, I'm wondering if I would actually be able to kill shin Ganon or whatever goes on at the end, but I highly doubt that I would have had the resources to do so since I was running low on weapons by this point in the fight
.

I'm very impressed with how this game is designed. It's really crazy that Zelda, despite being very samey for the longest time, is suddenly the accumulation of all the great game ideas over the years, but put into one gigantic game.

I'm inclined to think that this is probably my favorite game based on everything I've experienced.

Completed my second dungeon
Rudania
today, was pretty cool but not as good as the one in the desert. There was one optional chest that had me stumped for a good while though which they should've made necessary, it was pretty satisfying to figure out:
There's a locked gate in the floor with no clear way to open it, you have to realize that the other side of the gate is under the beast's belly, turn it 90 degrees and jump down from the outside.

After that I decided to go back to Hyrule Castle and actually beat Ganon this time. And...I was successful! It was still pretty hard though. On my first 2 attempts, once I hit the part of the fight I hadn't seen yet I died pretty quickly, but on my 3rd I got to the final phase and despite blowing a ton of healing items having no clue how to damage the boss, once I figured it out I only had like 1 heal left and still managed to just barely pull through. Heart was racing at the end there.

Calamity Ganon is genuinely terrifying in the fight. Probably one of the creepiest things in any Zelda game.

Now to just explore the world at my leisure.

Just have one question about the ending:
Is there an explanation for how Zelda survived 100 years in the game? Just give me a yes/no answer.

Is there a way to craft arrows? It's the one thing I'm always low on. Shops only seem to carry 20 at most at a time and enemies are inconsistent with the drops. What made me question if it was just a rarity thing was that the Eventide Trial
gives a bunch of bows but maybe 10 arrows from enemies and chests
. That was odd if there is no way to get more. Great trial by the way, I hope hard mode is more like that in terms scarcity of resources even if it is easy to cheese with bombs.

Also does someone have the most optimal recipe in terms of cost/sell value? Things are getting very expensive and I don't have the patience to test all the different permutations of recipes myself.

Any hints on how to reach this chest?

Shrine in Lanayru with rising water. It's right in the end room. I figure you need to use the barrel as a platform but you can't even get into the room if you take it off the button.
