I stayed up way too late last night playing the game, spent most of my time doing shrines and exploring a zone or two. I think it's probably time I continue the main quests considering all I've done so far is visit Impa lol

I hate when I am in the middle of an open field and the weather turns to lightning then I have no choice but to either just let myself get killed by the lightning or warp to somewhere else. It is really annoying sometimes.

Uhhh why dont you just unequip your metal weapons and shield?

Finally got my last Ancient Core from a shrine chest and upgraded S
tasis power.
It's really really good vs. enemies.

Also made it to the Master Sword last night, but didn't have the heart to pull it out. Grinding Shrines as soon as I get home. Let's go baby.

Need some help. I'm about 8 hours in, and I still have yet to find a rupee. Not only that, I'm having trouble keeping any weapons. Even the Guardian Sword I picked up in one of the shrines outside of Kakariko Village didn't last long at all. Any tips? Should I be using something else to take out Bobokins?

Rupees in the wild are often found in the large metallic crates, and sometimes in wooden ones. Clear out Bokoblin camps and smash those crates. Otherwise, do side quests to get paid yo. Weapons break fast by design. I just use up low end weapons and switch em out if I find something better or if one breaks and opens up an inventory slot. I'm about 25 hours in and I've had a really nice power curve to the point that I've got a stock of more powerful weapons ready for usage on more difficult enemies.

Played for the first time last night, and I got stuck on a mountain going after a shrine. I'm sure I'm missing something super obvious, but how do I get down? If I try to go up and over, I get too cold.

Climb down the way you came or fast travel back to the tower.

Are you on the Great Plateau still?

The same way you got up. Either by equipping your Warm Doublet or eating Spicy Peppers. I'm a little confused by your post though. You mention trying to go up and down at the same time. Are you somehow stuck in the middle?

Edit: I forgot you can fast travel too. You can just warp back somewhere.

Thanks for the replies. Glad to know I'm not really doing anything wrong, and I'll just keep using clubs on the Bobokins.

Didn't think about using the runes on them. Gonna start trying that.

Bring shields, lock on, wait for the blue "splash" of laser to appear right before it fires, and instantly press A. You should deflect the laser back into the Guardian. Only takes 3 or so deflects to take one down.

I got flashbacks of Bald Bull's bull charge while doing this.

Well, there's
a torch leaning against one of those for a reason.

Much less subtle hint:
The direction has to do with a visual effect.

Ok, I was looking out for that with weird trees with mouths and what not. Thanks though, I'll give it a go again, I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't just brute forcing it when there was some event or hint that I hadn't found yet.

This game really doesn't want you to challenge
Ganon
once you finish the tutorial area. I tried to make my way through but those Guardians make it near impossible to reach him.

Got the
Master Sword!
Beat
Windblight Ganon
with it, was a piece of cake. Of the four bosses, only
Thunderblight Ganon
gave me serious trouble. Others were pretty easy.

So... I guess I should head to
Hyrule Castle
and finish the main quest? Might do some sidequesting before that.

North-west region spoilers regarding the NPCs and Divine Beast:

Those Rito chicks are so adorable. Cutest NPCs in a game ever? The design of the Ritos in general is just great. Love how the injected so much diversity into the races this time.

Loved hearing the Dragon Roost Island theme from Wind Waker. Such an amazing version of that song. I found the questline to the Divine Beast in this region a little short, especially compared to the Death Mountain and Zora's Domain questlines, but I enjoyed it a lot.

Revali is basically just Falco from Star Fox then?

If you manage to sneak around, inside the castle you find loot that is strong enough to take on ganon.

Damn, this game makes me lose track of time. I've played for 8 hours and I've only just reached
Kakariko
Village, which is like, the 1st mission after the "tutorial"?

The soundtrack in this game in mind-blowing.

Spoilers for two themes surrounding the
Divine Beast in Zora's Domain

Approaching the Divine Beast (Elephant)
theme

Waterblight Ganon
theme

Two of the best tracks I've heard in the series to date. Incredibly epic stuff.

Is anyone else having a hard time picking the stamina upgrade over the heart? Since the original, I've been conditioned to pick the heart when available. I have 7 or 8 hearts now but haven't upgraded my stamina yet and don't plan to any time soon. It would be nice to have more of it but I've still been able to climb every tower, etc that I've come across with what I've got.

On a side note, I'm having a really hard time upgrading my Stasis. I can't find the necessary parts for some reason although I have like 20 of each of the other ancient gear/shaft etc pieces. Any clues where I can find the necessary components or is it more a matter of luck when searching the guardians?

You gotta be on point for that. Those things insta-gib you if you fail a parry. I've found
that if I lure them to a location with some cover, and I can stun them with an arrow, and then leap out to hack off their legs. You gotta get em' all though, because even if you leave two they'll start to crawl away. Once you dismember them you can stunlock them with arrows and just wail on them with whatever big stick you brought to the party.

Bringing down Guardians is like... first one I took out made me feel like a million bucks.

Side question, all those gears and springs and stuff they drop, do they have any use
other than upgrading your Slate abilities?
Cause otherwise I can make bank selling them.

Haven't really done anything in the game and I all ready racked so many hours in it. I've been walking around doing nothing, nothing, just dunno what exactly I'm doing in the game. Started from
hunting memories
which turned into a bit of tower hunting, which turned into shrine hunting which turned into just walking in one direction. Its fun.

I'm trying to
max out my stamina first and then I'll start investing in heart containers
.

Bringing down the big, fully operational Guardians is the only way I've reliably found the Cores you need. You gotta earn em'.

I've found that just two stamina upgrades has been enough to climb everything and tame every horse with no real issue. Now I'm just throwing it all into hearts.

If you like the chicks, make sure to look around for a sidequest involving them after clearing the dungeon in that area. Check around the village during the day after finishing that quest chain for something special.

Sounds identical to how I've played the game so far. Feels like there's so much more I should have accomplished considering how much time I've already put into the game. The exploration is just so good though, that I can't stand focused on any singular objective, just kind of wander around until I find something that peaks my interest and then get sidetracked by that.

I also wanted to try doing that. I was able to outrun and hide from the Guardins and made my way to the castle and even enter it with my 4 hearts and basic stamina. I think it's amazing that this is possible at all. Had to bail though, as the enemies were one-shotting me. Got a few powerful weapons out of it in the end.

Right, so do I want to
upgrade my Hylian tunic/hood or is it better to hold off until I get better clothing than this and upgrade that instead?

Upgrading armor is free and the materials for all the different armor sets are usually mutually exclusive, so there's never really a reason not to upgrade everything you're carrying.

Also, and this is for the sharp ears, but who else noticed the Mario 3 whistle motif (which is also the Ocarina of Time title screen motif) in the shrine theme? It's there, I pointed it out to my girlfriend and it blew her mind.

I believe it's also the same sound from the original Legend of Zelda's magic flute.

Oh you mean the song sidequest? Yes that was super cute. I'll probably check out the Flight Range later to see if I can do anything with Teba and his son.

This is actually pretty untrue. Guardians are probably the most manageable "strong" enemy in the game immediately from the start. I think it's quite clever they are pretty much the only thing gating immediate access to the castle.
