Need some help. I'm about 8 hours in, and I still have yet to find a rupee. Not only that, I'm having trouble keeping any weapons. Even the Guardian Sword I picked up in one of the shrines outside of Kakariko Village didn't last long at all. Any tips?

You're supposed to keep trying new weapons and changing it up, that's the whole point of the durability system. You'll eventually get stuff that lasts longer, but you're not doing anything wrong at the moment, so long as you're making sure to always keep a healthy stock of weapons, which shouldn't be hard.

You can find Rupees in barrels and crates, but you're also supposed to sell materials to make rupees in this one. It's a little more RPG-lite than past Zelda games.

Not finding rupees early on is normal, they're not everywhere now. You will definitely get some if you do some sidequests and open some chests. And weapon breakage is also normal. Just keep your best weapons for tough enemies. The guardian sword isn't supposed to last long, it says that in the description.

Lift lots of rocks and break lots of metal crates :D

Rupees are mainly get by selling materials, that you looted.
Don't sell the guardians parts and keep at least 20 gem (each type) on you or crafting later same with monsters parts.

The Lost Woods's aesthetics are insane. It's exactly how I imagined it in my head back in pre-release TP hype. Trotting slowly on your horse between scary trees with a lit torch and intimidating fog. Love it.

Trashing weapons is perfectly natural. That's why every enemy drops their weapon when they die. If you don't want to use rarer weapons on weak enemies, just use what they drop. Bokoblins aren't hard to kill even with weaker weapons, so don't be afraid to grab a bunch of Boko clubs and spears and stick with those.

So that empty plateau at Spactacle Rock, close to Wasteland Tower. Unless something happens there later in the game, does that not feel like an idea location for something to be added later via DLC?

I'm confused about what to do on one of the Korok Trials.

I was taked with following the little guy on his trial without being seen -- So I did it, and he got to a shrine, and he stopped. It was over. So I went back to the first guy and he didn't recognize that I had done it yet, now the guy I was supposed to be following is nowhere to be found.

Is my quest bugged now?

You've got to talk to the little guy at the end, it's such a pain in the ass trial. Basically, you escorted him, but he doesn't realise it, so he's all "Wow I did it awbymysewf!" and you get the quest completion and enter the shrine.

My favorite ones so far are the ones that just give you the orb and items. The puzzles you need to solve and the side quests you need to complete to gain access to them are a ton of fun.

Yeah, these remind me a lot of ALttP. I feel like that game had a lot of "yeah I heard about this place/ritual, but that's all nonsense" from NPCs. Then you actually go there/do it and access the shrine!

Yes, all shrines are doable except for the test of strength that will require you to prepare your body.

I remember when I first did my minor test of strength, it was kinda hard but fun and when I got to a modest test, I thought it was almost impossible, now minor tests are like nothing and im beating modest ones aswell

Use runes more often - bombs and magnesis are especially good for combat scenarios.

Sell opal, rubies, other rare minerals to get rupees. They fetch for a lot and you'll replenish them (don't sell diamonds). Some enemies drop rupees too... if you fight the right kind.

Can anyone give me a quick primer on fighting Guardians effectively? I did the little parry/dodge training shrine which I assume is supposed to help with most combat (though I haven't been practicing those skills, honestly) but I don't know anything about parrying the laser or really standing a chance. Whenever I get targeted I basically panic and run away or hide as fast as possible. I'd like to be able to stand a chance.

Really enjoying these shrines. They're like a greatest hits of dungeon rooms at this point. Still feel like some new tile sets and music would have been warranted but it's a minor point tbh

Ok, so I just reached the
Lynel
. What the fuck. How???

I tried to fight him a few times, before he gets to 50% health it's pretty easy to do a perfect parry/dodge and get the free flurry damage on him. After 50% health though is when it got nuts, I died 10+ times making no progress, so I just grabbed my arrows and left. Can always go back later.

I've liked all of them except for the combat ones. They're fun the first time but they are basically the same thing over and over afterwards. The Major Test of Strength takes forever.

Had to stop early last night after getting the tower in the first area after the plateau. Things aren't quite clicking with me yet, but I'm hoping things will pick up when I get to town. Otherwise it is more or less what I expected so far.

I'm thinking of buying Switch with Zelda and restarting the whole playthrough again. Btw I'm 25 hours in with 14 hearts and 1 dungeon done with WiiU version. Am I too crazy?

Bring shields, lock on, wait for the blue "splash" of laser to appear right before it fires, and instantly press A. You should deflect the laser back into the Guardian. Only takes 3 or so deflects to take one down.

Favorite shrines so far?

Windmills,
Constellations,
Both dueling peaks ones.

I like the ones that aren't traditional shrines so to speak. The island and the two mazes were amazing and evoked feelings of Links Awakening and Zelda 1. The one that is completely shrouded in darkness. Also the mini golf one LOL I actually stood up and was golf swinging my controller. To think I've done less than half of them!

Also does anyone have any vague hints about how to navigate
The Lost Woods
? Is there an NPC or village some where that contains hints?
I have to many goddamn Korok seeds

Wait, this game takes place in the
Child
timeline? Then how
do the Zora know of Ruto becoming a sage and helping the Hero of Time?
I don't think it takes place in the child timeline tbh
neither Ganon or Link were known even after FSA,OoT never happened and the Twilight could just be a simple reference to past Zelda games,we know the only timeline so far were Ganon has been beaten multiple times is the fallen one.unless Ganon resurrected and was beating many times after TP it doesn't make much sense to be that one.

And yeah BoTW has a lot of references to Ocarina way more than TP

Is it worth it to bother taking pictures of everything?

I get so caught up in what I'm doing that I completely forget most of the time.

Also... I ended up skipping almost ALL of the combat for the lead-up to Zora's domain, and despite the rain's best efforts, was able to climb and parasail my way past almost everything. Muahahaha

Where can I get some Woodcutter's Axes? And do weapons out in the world respawn? I know the ones in towns do, but I picked up a fire sword somewhere and don't want this to be the only one.

Put an ancient arrow on its eye. Its a 1 hit ko

I keep hoarding all of my minerals with the expectation I'll be getting to some sort of crafting blacksmith dude at some point who will want all the things. It made buying a house a bit difficult since I mostly sold monster parts to get the cash. But I love having the house. I stash some of my nicer gear there so I'm not tempted to burn it on trash mobs.

Also, in regards to going through weapons like crazy, don't forget how great the Boko spears are, I'll snag one quickly and immediately throw it for a nice headshot. If I'm lucky the guy will drop his gear and I'll have his stuff too. Saves on arrows as well.

I've yet to find a blacksmith like this. The only ones I've found are the guys who
reforge the special weapons
, but all they need is diamonds.

I'm so fucking pissed. I didn't talk to him at the end because I was told not to let him see me, and he didn't have a quest marker to talk to him or anything. So I just went back to the quest giver.

Now I have to do the whole thing over again, and he keeps getting attacked by a wolf at the end and I can't seem to beat it this time.

I already did this!

This game is so buggy

Save your monster parts for a certain NPC! The reward is well worth it.

Weapons respawn, I'm not sure of one from shrine chests though. Wood cutters axes are usually found at stables, a better axe can be found at
Kara Kara bazaar.

can't agree more!
had a good chuckle when the shrine gave me free stuff cause finding it is already a puzzle

Played for over 10 hours of this game from the last 4 days. This game keeps surprising me as I go to new area or do side missions.

All weapons break. You unfortunately just have to get accustomed to this. Combat in BotW is very improvisational and requires you to use the weapons you have, not the weapons you want. You may choose to keep more powerful weapons for more powerful enemies (for example, that Guardian Sword has a low durability, but is very effective against Guardians themselves), but don't try to manage your weapons like a traditional inventory. You have what you have. Everything will get the job done. But don't try to get attached to a weapon or hoard weapons.

Weapons also do critical damage when they break. I am in the habit of throwing badly damaged items to enemies because the damage output is massive.

As for Rupees, you'll get most of them from treasure chests. If you need some quickly, sell some cooked food.
