Wow, I'm so scared right now - reached an Island
that was actually an shire itself and by reaching the shore the game took all my weapons!
I'm really scared of exploring it further, but obviously I want to see what it's the hell about, Will be back with a report later

Welcome to Eventide!

Wow really? That last one is probably one of my favourite dungeons in all of Zelda lol.

The dungeon itself wasn't too bad, but the leadup was pretty excruciating (save a certain miniboss that I loved), and the companion there was my least favorite of the 4. The rewards you receive are also the least useful to me of the bunch.

Wow really? That last one is probably one of my favourite dungeons in all of Zelda lol.

The real trouble with that dungeon, I think, is that
a lot of the dungeon can become impossibly difficult if you've never picked up on electricity mechanics in any of the shrines. There's actually a shrine right by the stable closest to the Gerudo region that will teach the player basic electrical puzzle mechanics and if you take the main road into the region you can't miss it. But because the region is lower than all of the surrounding terrain it's extremely likely that the player won't actually take the main road into the desert, leading them to miss something that teaches them basic puzzle mechanics for the more complex puzzles in the area dungeon.

I spent over an hour in that dungeon trying to figure out how anything in it worked before I realized what was going on, but if I'd
gone into the desert by the main road
it'd probably have taken me much less time to pick up on things. Nintendo probably should have
required the player to solve one minor electrical puzzle
before starting the dungeon proper.

EDIT: This is like, the only legitimate criticism I can think of about any of the gameplay design in all of BOTW so far, and I'm dozens of hours in with about 85 shrines cleared and three of the four main story dungeons finished. Such a good game.

Used Gamexplains trick and scaled Mount Lanayru. Was genuinely surprised what I found up there. I love exploring in this game.

Spoilers regarding whats at the top of Mount Lanayru
Only one dragon left to find

This has been the absolute worst topic in GAF history regarding spoilers. People really really don't know how to mark them. And now I just saw that
One of the horses you can ride, spoilers,
mega huge horse
just simply scrolling by. I joist wanted to see people's enjoyment level of the game. This topic is a spoiler land fill.

It took many, many hours but I finally found something to complain about. Lost Woods navigation spoilers:
So I arrived there riding my horse and
I naturally start following the trail of torches, noticing how the wind blows towards the next step. Eventually you find a torch you can pick up as the trail ends... so I dismount, pick it up, light it and start following the wind's direction.

"Wait, damn it... my horse. I can't abandon it here!"

I whistle, but Link puts the torch away first.

"Oh. That wont do. I can't climb a horse without putting it away first either, can I? Nope."

Then, an idea: I can get on the horse and light up the torch after. Yup, it works!

But Link isn't holding the torch up, he simply lets it rest against his leg and the horse... who promptly is ON FIRE, and throws me to the ground.

Basically, don't bring your horse to the Lost Woods, I guess?

You don't need a torch. You can see all the pollen in the area.

People talking about the game in it's OT???

Why, I never!

Yeah. I've spoilt myself on so much because it's fun to read other peoples impressions.

Personally, I'd rather see people talk about cool discoveries and events than a bunch of people repeating "wow this game is good."
I don't even think they're really spoilers?

I think I'm gonna try to find Evertide Island today because I need to know what could be so crazy that everyone keeps mentioning it.

So...

Are the Korok just model rips from Wind Waker HD?

It's one of those things I noticed but thought "no way, they wouldn't just rip assets from a completely different art style" but then I looked closely and they're identical to WWHD. A few are palette swapped for variety, but I've counted nearly every Korok type from WWHD (beside Makar and the potion guy) and no additional ones other than some of the NPCs in the Korok village and the fat guy.

It doesn't really matter, they fit just fine, just an odd bit of "lazy" in game that's otherwise completely jam packed with care and work

In Gerudo Town one of the shopkeeps was trying to draw me to her shop and I'm pretty sure she had the exact same animation as the potion lady from Skyward Sword.

I luckily came across one myself but yeah i rarely look in this topic and nearly never tap those spoiler tags.

Anyway i agree it should be a bit more strict with this game imo.

I think my question got buried pretty quick, this thread moves way too fast. If I fast travel to a point in the map, does my horse teleports with me?

The biggest problem with spoilers isn't that people aren't marking them, its that people mark them with nothing so nobody has any idea whether they're spoiling themselves or discussing something they've both done.

Correct way to mark a spoiler involves a vague hint as to the subject matter of the spoiler, not just randomly having blacked out text.

Not to call this poster out specifically but this post exemplifies what I'm talking about:

Wait what. This game has
TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT

You have no idea what's under the spoiler.

No, but you can call a horse you have registered at any stable regardless of where you left it.

is there a clothing item that can help in those zones where it's so cold than even the cold shirt you get at the beginning isn't enough, or i just have to prepare anti-cold potions and meals?

I solved the gyroscope puzzle normally on my first try. I used the Wii U game pad. As a result, I actually wasn't sure how to do any alternative solutions other than literally hold the pad upside down, which didn't cross my mind. xP The
golf putt
shrine was harder.

It is absolutely not just people talking about the game in a spoiler free harmless way. It's very plain to see that there is a ton of talk about certain locations, items, ect that should remain hidden.

One of the things about botw is, because it's so open ended, it's tough to hold a discussion as to where a player may be or what they encountered. People aren't even using the spoiler tags correctly. I happened to scroll down and see a pic I really didn't want to see. I don't dare click any black bars, but I've seen tons of posts saying something like ,
"I'm over here and
blah blah
" which is absolutely not how to spoiler tag something. You have no idea what's under the black.

I disagree, when a game is this open and expansive, and each player is going to see and find different things, it's fun to share what we've found with each other. "Link dies halfway through and you play as Zelda in the second half" (this is not actually something that happens) is something that would be a genuine spoiler. Knowing there's a badass island that you should check out in the corner of the map isn't, imo.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I'm out of this topic for good until I'm done with botw. But I'm glad to see everyone's loving it as much as I am.

That horse looks like Ganondorf.

Maybe it's just regular Gerudo marks on the saddle and harness...

I don't think so. It definitely doesn't if you're not riding it. I haven't teleported while on the horse.

Yes, exactly. So these following posts gave away too much information when talking about The Lost Woods. I have spoiler tagged them so no one else falls into the same trap.

The conversation flow was apparent by quoting the previous poster engaged in it. I don't need to see how to beat, cheese, whatever an area/monster/etc. in plain text. This game is based on puzzles and to have that spoiled is no different than spoiling story.

i just used the fog to get through the lost woods
The point with two fires is not a dead end, it is basically a halfway checkpoint.
it's much easier to figure out how the fog works and run back immediately when it starts to surround you. took me like 2 minutes that way.

There are other armor items that can provide cold resistance, yeah. If you want to know where to acquire them, they're in
Rito Village
.

Guys I was messing around and wanted to see if feeding my horse an endurance carrot would have any effect.

It. Did. Doubles his stamina :)) this game is incredible!!

Ive been navigating extremly cold areas using the shirt plus meals until recently.

Yeah, that seems like the biggest problem regarding spoilers in this game. I've pretty much given up on avoiding all content spoilers, my RL friends are all having different experiences in the game and want to talk about them, and it's the same deal here in this thread.

So far I've not seen any story spoilers, which is nice. Not sure what the solution is for all this other stuff. I would've preferred to see the
gigantic
horse for myself before seeing it here, but... whatever. I guess now I know where to go find it, which will still be fun.

Beat the game :)

Did I miss something?

I heard there was a boss rush. Where is it? I just fought Ganon.

Also, are there multiple endings? Something was said during the one I saw that made me think that there could be another.

or you could just be a decent person and put a few seconds of thought into writing your spoiler for a game people have been waiting 5 years for. I'm tempted to stop following this thread because surprises are being ruined left and right. At least I did everyone else a solid and didn't run my mouth over what I found in Hyrule Castle 20 minutes after leaving the plateau on March 3. I properly used spoiler tags.

So I guess I better just save the hylian shield and master sword for Ganon since they both can break.

The
Master Sword
doesn't break per se, you just can't use it for a couple minutes after it "Breaks", similar to the abilities you get after
liberating a titan

I would kill to be able to play this game with a mouse. I occasionally find myself pressing A to go back.
