I've probably put something around ~30 hours into the game, mostly just running around and taking in the cool world. It's big. No. It's absolutely huge. Hot damn. Through all that I've found plenty of shrines that I've marked on my map. I've got over half of the towers, missing only those placed in areas where it's either too cold or hot.
The vastness of this world is absolutely astonishing. There's so much to explore, you can always go up, down, left or right and meet new foes or friends. Add to it that
everything plays together so incredibly well, even small things you probably wouldn't have thought of. You can cook meet in the cooking pot to get a steak, but you can also just put it into fire. Or you could shoot a fire arrow at it, if you have those to spare. Or if you are in the really hot areas, just leave it on the ground to be fried by the temperature of the area. You can also cook the meat with stone, if you'd like some dubious food, if you think that combination is cool. You can literally pick any material found in the game and cook it together. It doesn't necessarily give a great outcome, but who doesn't like chewing on hard-rock food.
When they promised freedom, they delivered on all fronts. It's not just the freedom to tackle the order of how you chose to progress the game, but also the freedom to create your own solutions to problems you meet. There is no right or wrong in this game, you just do whatever you think is the correct way of doing it.
It's hard to describe with words or even watching videos of it. You really have to try it to understand just how vast this game is. Wow.
