I wish there was a list in the quest log of the shrines you've completed

I did the five flames shrine and it was INFURIATING

...until i realised you could use arrows to move the top thing

I've noticed the shrines are extremely tiny. Like, one dungeon room with 1-2 simple traversal puzzles per shrine tiny.

Are all shrines like this? Are the dungeons meatier in terms of content?
Some shrines can be rather complex though, there were a few i was surprised because it was like 5 puzzles in different rooms

So, how do I not get burned to death in Death Mountain?

I know you can grind for elixirs, but isn't there any armor or something?

So I'm not a Zelda fan in the least. I found the few hours I put into Oot to be boring and slow. If I were to ever invest in a Switch in the future would this play similarly to OoT in any way?

The opening is straight to the point, so that shouldn't be a problem (possibly the least amount of exposition since the NES games?). You do have to enjoy open world games up to a certain point since you have tried and true tropes (shit load of stuff to pick-up, crafting, climb towers to expand your map ala AC, etc), even if Nintendo did put it's own spin on all of them. ;]

If you like or love open world games, it's a GOAT game even if you don't give a shit about Zelda imo.

Yeah, most definitely. I just think it could have been designed better to appeal to more people overall.

I think it's more or less essential to the design of the game. Most weapons breaking is necessary for that survival feel I think.

That being said, I do think having a very, very small selection of unbreakable weapons would have been nice as rewards for extra difficult challenges. This is kind of already true with at least one that I know about, so there could be more I'm not aware of.

It functions exactly like that? There are weapons that I can do decent damage with and never have to swap out for any reason? Or do they become unusable while recharging/needing repair?

I know it doesn't break, but it gets weaker with time (still have to test if it's only against certain monsters or with all of them, but I destroyed a minor test of strength with it) and eventually needs to recharge by itself

Instead of throwing it, you fire energy

I was so confused at first and then I realized the arrows pointed which way the cube moves instead of being random. Pretty fun actually.

In regards to weapon breaking, to me it's obvious that the weapons you get from
taming the divine beasts
should be permanent, specially since they all cover individual spectrums of the weapon selection. Notto mention they are all unique and somewhat legendary aswel. Having them break kinda mutes that.

I feel a little bit let down by the game.

Don't get me wrong, the gameplay and open world is top notch but are there really
this few main quests? Witcher 3 got way more main storyline quests and Zelda only has 4 dungeons (which are not that long) and the main boss. Am I missing something?

Did my third dungeon today,
Gerudo
and that boss wrecked me hard. Damn.
Since all my swords were two handed, I felt sooooo slow compared to him.

I finally got a special weapon ;)
The Master Sword of course. I tried to throw it and something amazing happened, lol. Reference game on point. What happens if I damage it? Deku said it had to restore for some time, how long and how? In the pedestal?

Also went to that Island everybody was talking about:
Eventide. That was really fun! I stupidly wanted to kill everybody on the Island before moving the balls, when I only had the big troll left, blood Moon happened. Managed it though. Everything got easier as soon as I realised the Sheika slate wasn't deactivated. Cooking 5 bananas was a good idea, big attack boost.

Ended the day with opening my three final towers. The map is huge.

I actually have too many awesome weapons that I'm hoarding that I need to find places to use them on. Time to kill more open world bosses. Actually I haven't found anything that's better than the iron sledgehammer on those rock bosses.

I can confirm this, I've used those weapons for extended periods of time and they haven't broken or been badly damaged. At first I thought they were highly durable but then it became too much and I started having my thoughts, seeing this just backs it up

You can reforge them, but it's expensive
So they are powerful and readily available, but still balanced

I always have TOO MANY weapons, even after upgrading the bag a lot. Right now I have like 5 elemental weapons and have to drop weapons constantly to pick new ones. I dont know why anyone has problems with the system when you can find weapons everywhere. I guess some people get too atached to their "overpowered" (read, slightly better) weapons.

I broke 2 of them already.

Even the Master Sword breaks, but its not like you will use it, its a pretty crappy weapon really unless is used to repel evil.

I'm almost certain there is more than one unbreakable weapon

The one I was referring to is the
Lightscale Trident
. It's not unbreakable (I think?) but since you can have it remade when it breaks I kinda think it counts. Though I can't bring myself to even break the original considering it's the one that originally belonged to
Mipha
and a remade one wouldn't feel the same lol.

Yeah, you're missing the side quests, some can unlock some shrine some can lead you toward a chest and even a new mount, etc :D
And trick is to resolve those sidequests in can depend of the moment of the day.

If the weapon you mentioned is the one from
the Zoras
, then it must have A LOT of durability for it to not have broken yet

Yeah, I think it was a good, simple puzzle. I was more angry at myself than it, which is a common theme of my occasional frustration towards this game

I broke the weapon from Zora's Domain pretty soon after I got it and never even wanted to get another one. It's like cool, but whatever.

Same here, drowning in special weapons. Got a Rod of each kind, a
Deku Leaf
, a
Flame Lance
, a
Flame Sword
, an
Ice Greatsword
, a
Wind Cutter Katana
, the
Lance rewarded for the Zora Titan
and the
Master Sword
.

All of the
Champion
weapons break, that was my point. I think having them be unbreakable but slightly less strong than the average would be a nice reward.

Wait what? That's the first I've heard of the Master Sword breaking..

The Master Sword... Breaks? What the hell, why would they do that? They already made the damn thing optional.

The weapon given to you by
the king
breaks? I have it stored away for now. Kinda hesitant to use it if that's the case.

God I'm loving this, I was just messing around traversing the overworld and completely randomly stumbled upon a hidden shrine. Really, no way to find it but by exploring the outdoors.

[General area]
So, having done my first divine beast and loitering a little around I decided that it's time to go somewhere. I start heading in the general direction of the bird divine beast, figuring that something will be there

[Continuing
I'm slowly traversing the terrain when I see some ruins. I approach them and there was a combination of black moblins and black bokoblins, which thanks to some really have rainfall I managed to eliminate one-by-one. Suddenly, I see a fairly tall tower somewhere to the east. I head there and see a camp of three bokoblins.

I killed the bokoblins, climbed the tower to get whatever's up there and there's only a barrel and in the distance some fairly inconspicuous rubble on the cliff. A korok seed, I figured, would make sense. I used stasis to explode it and instead it revealed... a cave. But shoot, it's raining. I found an alcove, made fire and waited until it stopped raining. I finally I climbed to the opening in the cliff with a help of stamina potion and lo and behold, it's actually a secret shrine. A veeery convenient fast travel point AND inside the shrine there's nothing but free 100 rupees and a spirit orb

I really wish I could progress through the game but it's things like these that just keep me going and going and just running around seeing things. It's tremendous, the way the overworld is constructed.

You dont even have to finish any of the main quests, they are not required, only the "Defeat Ganon" you get at the start is required for obvious reasons

I only did half of the mainline quests before I went to hyrule castle and finished the game.

Now. sidequests? lots of them.

How did yall get the chest on the string in the
Gerudo Valley Divine Beast
? I ended up
using stasis, shooting the rope with an arrow, then quickly switching to magnesis to grab it before it fell
seemed kinda like dumb luck tho not sure if I could replicate that strategy.

Master Sword spoilers

It runs out of energy and needs to recharge for about 15 minutes. You can't use it while it recharges. So yeah, it kinda breaks but not really. Works exactly like the abilities you get from the Champions.

Wait what? That's the first I've heard of the Master Sword breaking..

I just got the sword and that one npc that will obviously guard it told me that it will break, it can self repair but it will take a while so I should only use it against the truly evil things.

The Master Sword... Breaks? What the hell, why would they do that? They already made the damn thing optional.

It would go against the battle and reward system of the game I guess. I dont mind it, seems kind of weak too.

This is incredibly stupid. I can't get over how shit this entire mechanic is.

The armor in this game has a decent sense of progression, but they completely screwed it up when it comes to weapons.

The Master Sword being weak in a Zelda game is a goddamn travesty.
