The key to the golf shrine is that you don't need to swing the club all the way back. Just line it up and then quickly move forward. I hate all the motion control shrines, but this was one of the less egregious ones.
I get bloodmoons frequently. Comically frequently. 2 or 3 times in a row sometimes. It's very buggy. If only they had time to test the game
Also it's unforgivable that they force a cutscene and will reset whatever you're doing (carrying a torch for relay? poof it's out. Riding a sandseal? poof it's gone. Fighting a world boss? Poof it's reset). There should be no cutscene after the first time and any monster in your immediate area should not respawn, it should only affect things not right next to you.
Just starting and got the parachute. Is there any way to make the controls not so cramped? I find it pretty hard to run, then jump and then parachute. I think my brain is also just tuned to Monster Hunter and has me wanting to run with ZR.
man this fucking game. i was climbing up the side of a mountain and got to the top and noticed i was slipping from the rain, and then when I floated back to the bottom i noticed it wasn't raining.
yeah that's right. this game has fucking rain shadows
/edit false alarm, i was just in an overhang. Fuck, i thought for a second there it totally had rain shadows
It's possible, but hard, try slowing down and make sure it is clear the other side, I realised the first few time my horse was going to jump straight into the cliff after the hurdle and so I made sure to line it up better the next time. Also you don't need to go particularly quick, I finished it with 10 seconds to go and I only used gallop maybe 8 times through the whole thing.
No tutorial? I can dig it. I've already found a basic enemy type that kills me in one hit.
I can't believe a Nintendo game is less handholdy than other, more "adult" games. Shame I couldn't choose my name.

okay jesus fuck it started raining while i was on a wall hanging precariously over a ravine. i must be in the middle of a storm that just keeps going with intermittent breaks or some shit
Gave up on the last battle shrine (for now). However, got to Goron City and just solved a shrine with the "could give a fuck" method:
The last room of the shrine required some leaves to be lit on fire which would release and drop a wooden barrel with which to hold down a switch. Another switch dropped two lanterns suspended by rope over a hole. Should they fall into the hole, they'd shatter. It's too late for this bullshit, so I just ran back to an earlier part of the level, set a wooden Bokoblin weapon on fire with a lantern, ran aaaaallll the way back, and lit the leaves myself. Chuckled a bit at that working.
This game has the most cohesive & compact dungeon design of any Zelda game. No bullshit or filler - just straight to the point. Reminds me of the 2D Zelda dungeons.
Lol y'all need to adapt to the rain...embrace it! In other news I guess I had the wrong shrine I'll mind when y'all referenced Golf. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled. Found shrine with a trial called
Speed of Light
. Found a basic treasure chest then solved the puzzle floor switch. Then I walk through the gate and was about to talk to the elder when suddenly I spot another chest. There no immediate way to get it since its ok a balcony. Stumped.
So far I would say this is a very, very good game... but I'm not feeling that 10/10 insane love that most people seem to. I'm a good way in now, as well.
I'm hoping on Saturday I can sit down and play it for hours and it might click a bit more.
So I guess the extra "good job" jingle that sometimes plays when you make a recipe is random? I made the exact same thing with the same parts twice in a row, and the second time it played the jingle. The results were the same, except that the second potion recovered 3 hearts, while the first recovered none. Are there factors that affect the probability of the jingle?
Also does it matter which monster part I use? I made a potion, once with a bokoblin horn and once with a moblin horn, and they were exactly the same.

I don't know, since I decided to drink a speed elixir and just booked it to the city, banking on the thought I could buy fireproof armor. It worked. Maybe not the most elegant solution, though...
So I just took yesterday for exploring the Lanayru zone and found the
Fountain of Wisdom
at the top of the mountain. I was thinking I was going to find a Fairy Fountain there, but as I approached the peak of the mountain the music took a creepy turn and I knew something was off and a surprise was waiting at the top. Nothing could´ve prepared me for what I found up there:
a fucking corrupted dragon. The sequence that followed, with me paragliding for minutes while shooting arrows at the corruption that engulfed the dragon was amazing. This reminded me of how it was fun just to walk in SM64: the gliding works so well in the game that you can pull out stuff like an aerial bossfight and it feels awesome, devs must´ve spent a lot of time getting it right. Everything was so cool I couldn´t stop smiling for minutes after it was ended.
But this wasn´t the best part, Hyrule still had an even bigger surprise in store. I went looking for the
Lost
Woods, failed at getting the
Master Sword
and continued my way
up north
from the forest. As I was gliding I saw a misterious island covered in darkness, so I approached it...
I was teleported, at first I thought I may be brought back to the Lost Woods but no, this was something else. Everything was pitch black and I couldn´t see anything. A voice prompted me to find the hidden Sanctuary. So I started looking around, using torches so I could see a bit. Man, what a ride. Wolves approached from the darkness and I could only see their bright eyes moving around, preying me. Zombie Bokoblins appeared from the ground, only being able to see them when they were right at my face. If I attacked I may break the torch, if I change weapons I might not find a fire source to light the torch again...fortunately I soon found a fire rod and could create my own fire sources, but everytime something moved close to me I freaked out, drawing my weapon was a tough choice to make. I thought this is what the torch mechanic in Dark Souls 2 should´ve been. I found some loot, became more confident and started exploring more parts of the island, finding a lot of fire weapons, torches, glowing gems...I set torches on fire and threw them around, so that they would act as small beacons. I also found statues I could lit and even created some bonfires. I was slowly making my way through the island, but it never stopped feeling incredibly dangerous. And still no sight of the Shrine (the radar didn´t work).
Then I saw it. A glowing orb! Cool, this should be the key to finding the Shrine! But as I got close I saw IT WAS RESTING ON THE BELLY OF A BLUE HINOX. I almost freaked out. Very slowly and carefully I climbed the sleeping giant, took the orb and...fuck, he woke up. I threw the orb and prepared to face him. I had taken down red and blue Hinox in the past, they are slow and are easy to take advantage of. But fighting in such a dark place made me loose my shit. I couldn´t see if it had a tree on his hand, when he attacked or anything, I could only see it´s giant yellow eye coming at me. And if I tried to shoot at it he would just cover it with his hand, which made him almost impossible to see in the dark. I would´ve died if it wasn´t for Daruk and Mipha´s help and for some food I had prepared, but eventually it went down. I got the orb, unlocked the Shrine and let the tension leave as I went into the well-lit Shrine. I stopped playing there, had no desire to get back out to the darkness.
When I went to bed my heart was still racing and my mind couldn´t stop thinking of the awesome adventure I had just gone through.

In their next system update, Nintendo seriously needs to give us the ability to turn the console on and completely off [not sleep mode] with just the controller. It's so frustrating to have to manually hit the power button and hold it in until the console turns completely off. This could all be remedied in an update allowing you to select power off from power menu on the home screen.
I finished furnishing my house in Hateno. The longer I play, the more I can see how Monolith really helped with development here. Zora's Domain looked like something straight out of Xenoblade, and this sidequest reminded me of Colony 6.

Yeah that second bit was so fucking cool to stumble into.
My brain is at full Zelda saturation right now. I haven't thought about much else since Friday.
Tonight I spent like two hours finding a shrine I absolutely could not figure out despite my stupid sensor going crazy. It was way up in the north of
Hebra
. After finally figuring out where it was... well, I hope you don't get that ping from the location I did because it is damned confusing. It was a real fucking triumph when I finally figured out where the hell it was.
Maaan I dunno why you guys hype up the water temple so much. I thought it was good but so small and simple and was super worried for the others going forward.
Luckily the earth one was so damn good that I am less worried for the other two. While still relatively short and small, it's complex enough to where I enjoyed it much much more than the water one which was just so straight forward that it was disappointing because of it.
I really wish there wasn't any loading screens into the temples. Hardware limitationnnn.
