PS4 Update 4.5 is coming tomorrow, details inside

I got a few questions, tho...

I already have a Firecuda 2tb SSHD in my PS4 PRO...

Is there a way to move all my games to an external HDD and then insert an SSD (500GB) as an internal? I would just moved games that i play most back to the SSD so it would load faster... would it be a good idea?

Will i lose anything by doing that?

Thanks for your suggestions in advances

My only complaint with the beta is the 250GB min limit on external drives so I hope that's been lowered or removed. Even a 120GB SSD would be good enough to hold 2-3 performance critical games.

I just got a PS4 and was planning on changing the internal HDD. With this update, there is actually no reason to do so? I can just plug my 2tb badboi via USB and viola? No performance downside?

I suppose there is some loading time increase in general, but no idea about streaming data. Guess we'll see some video analyses shortly after the release.

Hover over a game title icon and press the Options button. You’ll be given the choice to ‘Upload/Download Saved Data’ from the the PS4’s home screen that let you upload the saved data on your PS4 to PS Plus online storage and download the saved data from PS Plus online storage to your PS4 with ease.

Nice! I was hoping for an easier way to manage saved data. I was reinstalling a few games the other night and the current system is just so cumbersome.

Other than that, nothing really for me in this update as I don't have a Pro or PSVR.

I'll wait for DF analysis before I do anything if I were you.

Strangely, I'm most excited about Gifs and the Save data upload shortcut! External HDD support has been long needed, but PS4 is my streaming/exclusives machine.

External storage still needs a bit of work. Games started to install reaaaally slow on the regular PS4 HDD when I used it the last time, and it seems that some people are experiencing disconnecting and always on HDDs (on rest mode).

Still, thanks to Sony for hearing players. This is quite a big update.

And don't get me started on Beast mode. The Witcher 3 is at Nintendo first party level of flawlesness now.

Zelda shows that they have same issues as every one else when it comes to demanding games.

Love the first post that ignores all the great things in this update and points out the one thing thats not there! Way to go fella.

Lol ok, chill dude. I don't have a PS Pro so I don't care for the boost mode. I'm glad for the people that can use it tho.

PSN name change is one of the most requested features, so yeah, I'm disappointed it's not out yet.

Yeah they need to think of something that syncs all that stuff automatically. I'm planning on getting a Pro as a second PS4; would be great if it automatically uploads that stuff and syncs it with other PS4(s) when my GF wants to watch something on the big TV.

All those players who missed out on the beta or burners, you are in for a treat with Boost Mode.

Go and buy Just Cause 3 now.

Nice.

I could really do with more USB slots (thanks PSVR). Does anyone have a usb hub connected to their PS4, and if so which ones are recommended?

... oh and at long last we have custom wallpapers.

I use the Amazon basics powered USB hub. My external HDD is plugged into the system. (It required this to be used as external storage.) But my Sony Gold headset and PSVR are on the hub and they work fine.

Heads up, preliminary tests show that an external SSD will load games significantly faster than the internal stock HDD despite being over USB3.0.

they need to make it so you can set a theme, but override the wallpaper with a custom. I want to use the Nier themes for the audio and icon changes, but the wallpapers for them are incredibly lackluster

Hopefully it will fix the bluetooth devices issue I've been having in the 4.5 beta. My PDP universal remote wouldn't work but still showed up as connected but when I try to remove it, it just errors out :(

Is there a significant difference between an external SSD over USB3 to an internal SSD?

I already have an internal SSHD of 2tb.. So i am wondering if i should move it externally and put the SSD internally.

Currently on my 1st play through of the Witcher 3 so this is very good news indeed! While I'm sure boost mode will clean up many of the framedrops I've experienced, it's the load times that have been the thing thats really grated on me. Anything that improves them is a blessing.
