"I'm only going to play til 12" is what I said.

I got lost in the journey and it's now 3:30am.....

not in a very dark souls mood perhaps right now, but aside from that
the z lock-on being lost every fucking time was infuriating and then on top of that having to bloody find and re-equip my weapons and shields and bows or whatever... just terrible.

I also couldn't really get the timing on the flurries down reliably one the second form

I actually restarted this fight because I wanted to actually get the pattern down, and it got much easier.

The only time the Z-targeting broke was near the end was he was shooting his laser and was at a sliver of health. I had already parried one of them back at him. Once you get the timing down you can backflip away from his teleport attack every time for a flurry.

12.40% completion lol. Good to know. Those korok seeds I'll probably never end up getting. Final room was a lot of fun.
Really challenging if you avoided all or most of the main quest like I did and have to fight all 4 blights.

God, it's the small details that I love so much about this game. I was just wandering around one of the stables just west of
Kakariko
talking with a bunch of NPCs, doing some seed trading, and just kinda killing time around the nearest woods collecting stuff. Then out of nowhere I hear the distant rumbling of thunder in the background and, naturally, start to panic. But then I notice all the surrounding NPCs stopped what they were doing and took shelter inside the stable. So I decided to follow them in and we all just hunkered down until the storm passed.

It seems silly, but I just love how... organically immersive this game feels :)

Ignoring the dude's dumb hyperbole, I imagine people buying the game because of the popularity/praise and not because it looks like something they're into will be a big thing and result in a lot of backlash sooner rather than later. When people go into a game thinking it has to be flawless they end up nitpicking it to death and ruin it for themselves.

One main issue with this game is that - while it gives you access to all its mechanics almost instantly, you only learn about the intricacies of said mechanics over time. There's hundreds of little "oh my god, you could do that? you could use X to do Y?". Before those moments happen, the open world seems indeed very 'bleak'.

Once you realize how much you can interact with the world, everything else just feels totally off in comparison. Horizon is an amazing game and i can't wait to get back to playing it, but the fact that you can barely interact with the world is gonna be rather irritating.

Alloy is limited to interacting with NPCs, beasts, collectables and ledges. Link can interact with the world. :/

These criticisms will come, eventually. BotW is not a perfect game. I agree with the guy that the story is pretty generic and Link should show more emotions during the cutscenes.

Everything else is top notch. It totally deserves the 98 score imo.

Perfect scores do not mean a perfect game. No game is ever perfect. It's 10's are from the fact that it is a really, really great action adventure video game, faults and all.

While the story is pretty much something like your usual Zelda game, it does not mean it's bad. It's actually quite good delivered with a really well done storytelling. And the characters add charm to the story as well.

Totally agree with you. The game deserves the scores imo. I'm not quite satisfied with the minimalistic story telling approach here, though. And like I said, it's made a bit worse because Link doesn't react to the people around him in the cutscenes.

But that is just one aspect of the game. Everything else really is incredible.

Slightly random question, but when I was making my way to Kakariko village along the road, I walked through an area with a quite loud buzzing/electrical humming noise specifically
around the point where you meet the Korok with the maracas
. At first I thought my switch was coming down with a fault but turned the volume down, and it was an ingame sound.

Anyone know what it is?

So I've now finished all the beasts and cleared about 50 shrines. I have explored the whole map and climbed all the towers. For some reason I don't feel ready for the endgame yet. Anything else that's recommended to do before I storm the castle?

How about exploring the map's outer borders? There might be a few surprises here and there.

The guy doesn't seem to have played the game at all, ranted a lot in general (do they copy pasta each other troll post?) without really making a statement about what why and when something bothered him then praise at the end Horizon? (I've nothing against that game but they're lot more other gamesto take example on) LTTP threads are usually smarter than this and you can really tell when the person played the game in those threads.

How about getting the
iconic green tunic.
You get it
by beating every shrine.

Having a real difficult time with dodging only because I accidently click into the joystick and crouch, so frustrating. You know what you are supposed to be doing, but they just had to tie crouch to that button.

Would have happily substituted crouch for a combo of R and L triggers.
What were you exoecting with that username :P

You're basically where I am except I've got about 20 more shrines than you. What I am doing is getting rich and getting every armor set I can get my hands on and upgrading them lol.

Also just doing all sorts of weird side quests, I've had my map marker set to KILL GANON for like 3 days now lol but I keep getting lost in looking for upgrades or farming materials.

Right now I'm working on getting 15 ancient cores to get the ancient set to 3 star. I have become very proficient at parrying those laser beams lol.

yooooooo, that "hidden area" in the
maze

Probably a good timing to learn laser parrying. I wonder how many of these hidden things I've missed so far.

The main quest is pretty much
just the 4 main dungeons and Ganon boss battle
, right?

30 hours in, I think I've had enough of daily playing for now. This is how it usually goes for me with games with barely any story/anything interesting story-wise. It's not going to be my GOTY, might not even be in the top 5, but it's still an absolutely fantastic game, by far the best Zelda I've played and I can definitely see myself picking it up and playing for an hour or two every now and again.

So many games to play, books to read and shows to watch right now that I might try and wait for a CEMU build that runs it though.

got all the towers so i'm starting on the photographs. i have only cleared one of the main dungeons, so it was my intro to a lot of characters. after
mipha and the old man, i was pretty worried, but the rest of the champions do a good job, and i really like zelda. her delivery in the first memory where she's kind of going through the motions is great.

Charged Hyrule Castle for the first time last night. Almost everything big done before that.

Oh. My. God. What a finish stretch that is. There's no other word than "epic" to describe that. And the soundtrack....!!

By maze you mean the one north of Akkala, right? If so then I must have missed something in there.

I got the climbing Bandana and Climbing Gear.

Any idea where to get the climbing Pants?

Besides what Not Spaceghost told you (which is correct): talk to the woman near the pond in Hateno Village and she will tell you how to get there (it's a sidequest). I had a lot of fun finding that one.

I love how that thread got crushed within 60 seconds of it posting.

And he wasn't banned for posting that thread, BTW, but for repeating the post nearly verbatim in the "anyone not like it?" thread, and claiming the lock was because the mod was probably a Zelda fan. lol What a nut.

On-topic, anyone had the same experience that the game seems to actively fight you when cheesing the gambler by save-scumming? I almost always get the green rupee after doing a save trick after my first few wins, no matter how many times I either consistently pick the same chest or switch them up. Is it just my luck or are other people experiencing this too?

Those things you mentioned, like story being generic is not something that reflects a 98 score.

Just saying. Story could very well be amazing for others and not you. But a generic story, whatever the rest of the game is, is a pretty big flaw in an RPG.

Yeah, I gave it up. I tried for 15 minutes and only came out about 500 rupees ahead.

50 shrines maybe seems a little low if you've explored the whole map. not sure. i've done 35 and have only seen probably 30% of the map if i had to guess, and i'm yet to go to a beast area. a lot of them are hidden behind fun quests, some small and some quite substantial in content. actually some of my favourite moments so far have been the bigger shrine quests. i'd seek them out if you're looking for more to do.
