So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

It is obvious that this system has a good word of mouth right now, and is being helped by Zelda hype.

It's no Wii, but then it's no Wii U. Nintendo needs to play their cards right though, next few months and especially E3 will be critical time.

Yes they have to come out fighting at E3 and give people who don't like Zelda a reason to buy one this year.

damn... I guess I should enter the scalper business, as the new shipment that came in in my area yesterday hasn't sold out at all... there are like 10 stores in my near vicinity that still have at least one unit of each colour (or more).
(I guess that's to be expected in Sony-land)

Amazon accounts are completely different entities in different regions.

actually European Amazons (de, fr, es, it...) are connected. US, JP and so on are separate

I've been calling ALL OVER (I'm in NYC) and could not find anything anywhere; it's been so bad I'm looking at deep Jersey but still nada. I'm out for drinks around Times Square today with the lady and checked the BB nearby, the dude legit chuckled and was like "nah man, we don't got none" I'm like damn this might be the Wii all over in NYC!

We leave from drinks (~7pm) and I decide to quickly pop over at a B&H over on 44th and 5th and I ask one of the workers in the Games department and he's like "Sorry man, we're all out"......FuttBuck was DEPRESSED to say the least. I've had my Gorilla Glass and Zelda for over a week now.

BUT THEN!!! A SAVIOR EMERGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Electronics Department Manager pops over and she says to me "Ehh, hold on a minute. I just sold one today, I think we have 1 Gray One left" Grey was my preferred color so this could work out!

All they had to do was scan the system a few times and if it came back okay that meant they had it. 2 minutes later and I'm walking out with this mothafucka right here!

SIDE NOTE:

Tested my JoyCons and seem to be great so far, no issues desyncing.

My dock is slightly bent in :'( I do have the Gorilla Glass but I'm still pretty anal about things like this. What's the best fix for this? What should I look for to put up at the top of the Dock on the inside? Anybody using like rubber stops or something used on furniture?

Awesome. Glad you got one. I'm in NYC too but I refuse to go nuts calling and visiting every shop. I'll wait till it's readily available on Amazon. :)

Not completely true, you can use the same account but your order info is only available in the region/country specific amazon store. (I order at .co.uk, .es, .fr and .de regularly to get the best price)

Damn, nice! I've pretty much given up scouring NYC for one.

Are the previously available Amazon JP Pro Controllers no longer available?

I got mine through Amazon.jp that showed up Tuesday, only to find out the Toys R Us down the street had had 8+ controllers since launch day. Check your local TRU!

Pokemon and Monster Hunter would certainly help.

Also give me some tablet-only board games.

Any of our GAF retail friends know if stores might be getting some stock in this weekend? Don't think my area has gotten anything since Friday of last week.

I'm in Indianapolis Indiana and I'm having zero luck finding a Switch. They pop up on Prime Now at least once a day but I'm always too slow to get it.

Yooo, what was the accessory situation like at BH. Do they have sets of red or sets of blue joycons? Cases and stuff?

I had been planning on waiting till Splatoon2 hit to see if there was going to be a bundle, but now I'm getting the impression I should just grab one the first chance I get what with this stock shortage. Kicking myself just a bit for not preordering.

Any leads in Houston? Trying to find these Walmarts that supposedly have them. No dice in north Houston/Spring. Did find a Target that technically isn't open til Sunday and got a Pro Controller. So I'm set with that and Zelda but even that location had no units, or at least that's what I was told. The hunt continues...

Did anyone find a Switch this morning in the US from a retailer who had been out of stock? Trying to figure out if I did the right thing by not going out to look today.

Ugh... I'm at Walmart with my son to do some grocery shopping, decided to swing by the electronics and there's a Switch sitting here. I really want a Neon, but ugh.... what do I dooooooo???

cool thanks for the info. I ordered on 3/8 so I'll update everyone as soon as I know more... I was also charged already but still says "preparing shipment".

Well, I was halfway right. Mine did ship last night and I have a UPS tracking number, but unfortunately my "guaranteed delivery date" also magically jumped from 3/13 to 3/17 with no explanation. If I'd have known it would take 10 days when I ordered the system I would have probably just bought one from local classifieds instead...

You should totally get it. I wanted neon too but I'm accepting of whatever I find at this point. Grey ones are hard to find, but the neon ones are near impossible.

I'd agree, pick it up. I checked Brickseek and saw a few local walmarts near me claimed to have stock 7-10. Called them up and was told they're actually out of stock and don't have any.

The one Walmart in my area that originally reported having 24 in stock via BrickSeek has been slowly going down, now it says 18. I guess this is people picking up their pre-orders?

Gonna go hunting in Boston in a bit, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm south of Boston and it seems pretty dry. Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Gamestop (lol) everything is out of stock no matter where you go.

Keep us updated! I work in Somerville (but live south of Boston) and checked a few places on the way home late Wednesday and there was nothing but controller grips and other accessories.

I mean do you think you will get use out of it right away with the games that are out or will be out in the next couple of months? If so, it may be worth it. While I don't see this being a Wii situation where shipments sell out almost instantly throughout the whole year or more, you can't reliably say they will be easy to find for a while.

I stopped by a Walmart this morning that had an older man working the electronics section. He told me that they had some, but they were all paid off pre-orders that were still waiting to be picked up. He didn't had any other details beyond that.

So the girl at my local Gamestop said they just spoke with their Nintendo rep and "they won't be getting stock again until NOVEMBER." She mentioned the left joycon issues... this is a severely misinformed employee I assume? I asked her if it was really going to be 8 months before you get more stock in the store and she goes "yes that is correct."

This is impossible.

That's the thing. Honestly, no. I work full time and am in school. I don't have much time till I finish classes, plus I have a couple other games in playing when I do have time. I was just shocked to see it sitting here. I still want it for Blaster Master and Zelda but I don't know when I could play those games.

ah that kinda bites but I'll be happy just to secure one for retail so I'm ok with that if I fall into the same delivery date.

So I received my Switch from Amazon last week and still have one on preorder at Best Buy. What should I do with it? Just let the preorder cancel? Not sure if I should pick it up and try and sell it or let some deserving soul grab it when it gets released back to the shelves. I don't really need the money or anything.

Sell it to me, that's what! :)

Ask around first. If a friend wants one, let them buy it off of you. Otherwise, yeah, just release it into the wild...

Are you in the Minneapolis, MN area, by chance? What I'd really like to do is open a Cragslist ad and sell it for cost and sell it to the person who seems the most deserving. Is that self serving? I don't want to be a dick about it, but all the scalpers drive me nuts so this is my way of sticking it to them, even if just a bit.

Yes they have to come out fighting at E3 and give people who don't like Zelda a reason to buy one this year.

This is really for another topic (and I do agree with your general sentiment), but this Zelda is so different from past ones that someone not buying this one on the basis of disliking OOT, WW, TP, etc. is doing themselves a huge disservice.

I hope I can get a quick reply.. But I'm trying to score a switch from a local Wal-Mart. They have 2 but they tell me those are pre orders that havent been picked up.

I know gamestop has a 3 day hold and after that it's fair game. Does walmart have this? Ive been trying to search through google and cant seem to find a legit answer.

Someone in this thread says Walmart releases preorders in April. I haven't been able to find any information to back that up and I don't know specifically when in April, just repeating what others have said.

Yeah im also questioning that too. I'm going through their policy and can't find an answer there either.

I've also seen reports on reddit that they use their layaway system for in-store preorders. It might be worth it to try to find the details on that. Regardless, if they won't sell it to you then you're SOL for now. But if I can find a definitive answer on when they release preorders I might just camp out at a Walmart waiting for that moment. Especially since there are a few around me who claim to have a LOT of units.

I just cant understand that a store like Wal-Mart and their employees dont even know the answer to this. But then again being walmart I do believe it.
