The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT2| It's 98 All Over Again

I don't think the map is too big. There hasn't been a moment when I thought "this area is unnecessary." Every single thing in the world feels thoughtfully designed and cohesive. I've been exploring everything I see at my own (slow) pace, and I haven't thought once that the map was too large. I'm actually dreading the moment when there's no more to explore.

The beauty of this series is it keep changing but also remain the core
From 2D to 3D, from normal control to touch screen to motion control
From realistic to cartoonish, from linear to open world
I just don't want the developer to stop changing the formula
There is no perfect zelda, and there is no perfect way to make zelda
Other game always feel the same after several iterations (Like DS), yes they do make several good games based on that, but zelda, the series, will not stop at one point

I think BotW give a good direction

The map feels just right
I was afraid it would too big and bloated with nothing in it like XCX.

But BotW has just the right amount of wilderness, points of interest, challenges and villages

Lol I had no idea I could use metal boxes to shock other enemies. Dropped a metal box by mistake when I got attacked by an electric chu chu but that ended up shocking a bunch of bokoblins that were rushing towards me.

Whoah bro, slow down. XCX had a lot of secrets and stuff to discover. It wasnt as dense as BoTW but places rarely felt barren, especially when you had your skell.

Spent a long time climbing up Gerudo Tower, navigating the enemies and the dumb-waiter puzzle at the end to get up...
And find out that Gerudo Highlands are a completely different region than the Wasteland, which is where the Naboris beast is. So i had to look at my guide and figure out where the Wasteland tower was, and spent a long time getting there (although a chunk of that was a pride thing, a fight against this group of black Moblins who could all OHKO me, only viable tool i had was a Spiked Lizal Boomerang).

Fun fact about the lost woods I learned during a Koron trial
if you are quick enough you can run back to where you were as the fog starts to kick you out to not get booted

Haha yup, I did that out of desperation because I was SO CLOSE to the end. I didnt want to start over again and thankfully it worked lol

holy moly that first post is so sleek.

So I've poured 75 hours into this and am feeling burnt out. Certainly a game worthy of a 10/10 these days, but not sure I want to go further. Done 85 shrines and maybe half of the sidequests. I'll return for the new story/dungeon for sure, but not sure I'll come back for all shrines... maybe in a couple weeks.

On Death Mountain I've seen a bunch of what looks like white targets in the ground and I'm not sure if these are Koroks or not. If they are, I've no idea what to do and if they're not, I've wasted way too much time on these things.

Well IMHO, the beauty of this game is everyone has different experience
It's just fun and pure joy (for me) to read other people's experience
If everyone enjoy the game the same way there is nothing to tell

All my life I played games where everyone has the same experience and there is a ton of stuff to talk about.

Just beat the game. Not sure how I feel about the final boss tbh. Fantastic game overall that really did open world right for once, but I can't say I'm not a bit disappointed with it. As fun and phenomenal as it was, I don't think it actually scratched that Zelda itch in multiple areas. I might go into more detail in the Spoiler thread.

The hard facts of my progress so far after 70 hours of gameplay:

- still only one dungeon done
- 51 shrines
- 131 Korok seeds
- obtained 7 memories
- and I have still 4 blank regions on my bank and 2 that I entered only superficially to activate the tower - so in total still around 6 huge regions left to explore. Lord Almighty, pls help me! D:

Today I wanted to progress a bit in terms of the mainquest and maybe tackle another dungeon. For that I wanted to work my way up 2 new regions to the place where I thought the dungeon would be... well I played several hours and of course managed to see only around HALF OF ONE Region. Yeah...! But man, it was pure fun and I made some pretty slick discoveries. Probably the best one apart from really cool and challenging shrines was a fire elementary weapon that I found. And because I was already near a huge snowy mountain I decided: Fuck it, let's go on an adventure and explore since the fire weapon helped to survive. The exploration aspect of this game never ceases to amaze me! And then after I saw enough on top of the mountain I managed to see a shrine far in the distance in the desert, so I decided: Fuck it, I'm gonna glide all the way down to step a toe inside the desert! And while I was gliding I saw something huge at the horizon of the desert... and guys... it was moving! Damn, I'm looking forward of exploring that area in another session.

And to think that I honestly thought I could explore two regions today, let alone beat another dungeon... Ha! It's as if I had nothing learned from playing it the entire week :D

This game is crazy hard. I still see a group of enemies and actually fear fighting them. I've done enough shrines to raise both my health and stamina once so far and went tower searching until I just now gave up on that (knew I wasn't making it past three wizrobes). I think I need to explore the area with Kakariko and the Zora area for awhile and try to amass money and stat upgrades.

This concerns me, I already don't like the bosses so far, the shrines/beasts aren't as good as traditional dungeons so if the final boss is lame too... I dunno some of these things are just simply why I love Zelda.

Is it really possible to go anywhere you want in this game from the onset provided you have the skills and creativity to do so?

Aside from the edges of the map, I maxed out my stamina wheel right from the start and I can confirm, you can climb all over the game and it doesn't stop you.

ima get the master sword TONIGHT. I got 11 hearts, just 8 more shrines. Then i wont have to worry about item durability for the next 3 dungeons.

I actually did the gerudo dungeon first cause I figured the game wanted you to do the zora one first since that annoying zora guy kept popping up. Fuck that guy

So are there no secrets maps or ways to track Korok seeds unlocked at all in this game? Or is it just the shrine radar? The amount of collectibles plus no way to track if would be ridiculous.

As usual with these sorts of games, the first 10-20 hours are faaaar more interesting than the portion where you are just cleaning house.

So just beat Tito Devine beast. My third. Man it's funny how I , seemingly, beat the two hardest Devine beast dungeons first. This one was a breeze, no pun intended.

Questions:

-How rare are Star Fragments? Do I waste them using them to upgrade amiibo exclusive armor (NES link)?

- How rare are diamonds? I have 12 but was thinking of selling a couple to buy armor in Tito village to protect against cold, which I desperately need as I've struggled with cold for 30 plus hours now and would like to cut myself some slack.

Well, yeah. That's a lot of hours in a week. :)

How the heck are you supposed to get
shards of Farosh
? I need them to upgrade the Champ's Tunic. Do you actually need to
find and shoot Farosh to get him to drop his scales
?
