And also you can avoid a blood moon by always going to sleep before midnight.

Just today, I slept at an inn and it played the Blood Moon cutscene before I woke up.

I think, once the Blood Moon starts rising (which is well before midnight), it always does its thing.

Did something different happen with you?

Just went through the official guide... there are not that many
Major Tests of Strength
maybe
3 or 4
total.
Yeah, but that's still 6 or 7
Guardian++
weapons and three additional shots at getting a
Reactor Core
per
blood moon
.

Hyrule Castle is too dangerous. I can't stress that enough.
Anyway, are cutscenes voiced? I just came across a memory but there's no voice.

Basically whenever I agree that it's time to defeat Ganon I find out some cool thing I left behind.

Now I decided I won't until I find all the Great Fairy Fountains. Meaning I only had to find the last one. Spent all freaking morning studying the map, looking for the most likely places, talking to random NPC's hoping they'd give me a hint.

Nothing.

Found a LOT of Koroks and some shrines though lol

I'm trying to do the side quest in Haneto Village in which you have to show weapons to a kid and it's actually pretty hard to find low level weapons now. It seems gear scaling has kicked in. I couldn't find a single traveler's sword for a long time in west necluda while at the beginning of the game that area was swimming in them. Was getting soldier and knight's broadswords instead. Finally found one from a skeletal bokoblin but it took a while. Now I have to find a fire rod for him but I keep getting the upgraded version from Wizrobes (meteor rods).

Um.....is this not going to make the game really, really trivial from now on?

So I unlocked
an item that restores all my hearts plus gives me some yellow hearts when I die. And it apparently recharges every 25 minutes. The game is handing me an extra life every 25 minutes.

Also, I never realised how much I hate rain until I played this game.

Been playing a week now. This game is incredible. I've been mostly not doing quests and just exploring. Finding lots of Korok seeds and climbing mountains. Just finally beat Ruta. Incredible level design.

You can disable it if you feel it's cheap

Man I thought the
elephant
kicked the
ghecko's
ass. The latter has been a breeze for me with only one more console to go. It has taken me about 25 mins compared to like 1 hour 15 mins for the
elephant
. although that could be a whichever one you do first kinda thing.

The 3 or 4 I've seen have had voices when the characters talk to each other. I heard there was some glitch for 5.1 speaker set ups though. Not sure if that's only on Wii U or Switch or both.

There is one that you find in a veeeeery dark place.

You can go to your key items tab and disable it if you don't want it to activate.

1. I hate that horse race. fuckin horse controls, fuckin hurdles.

2. In case someone didn't know: Killing blue slimes with various elemental arrows / weapons will change the slime they drop - killing them with a fire sword will make them drop red slimes. That's kinda neat.

3. I went to "north west central hyrule" (the area with the thunderstorm,
where you have to get those colored balls onto that weird plateau
) ... i should use lock + hammer
to get them onto the plateau, right? because i jumped off with the red ball and couldn't find a way to get it back onto higher ground :/

Okay, if I let you win there, don't you agree Polygon could sack Justin for telling jokes enough people get offended by and complain? That is my point. Many stand-ups and independent comedians do not have anyone to answer for when thousands of people start complaining about their jokes.

i ASSUMED it would be story related.

Great Hyrule Forest was god damn amazing.
What a great take on the Lost Woods. I was floored when I understood how it worked. And they did a great job with the scene where you pull the Master Sword out of the ground. The cutscenes are a bit hit and miss (more miss, even) in the game but this one hit the notes perfectly. And the mechanic for pulling it out might be simple but worked really well.

That's the thing that this game does that I have not liked in other open world games. I feel rewarded for exploring! I just stumbled into those woods without direction and it felt that much better for it.

Not just that, but you can also cast fire/ice/thunder magic on the jelly drop items themselves to change them. You can actually hold and drop bundles to poof them into the desired jelly. It's pretty neat. Just be sure not to physically hit them since they get destroyed by physical attacks.

That's what I did yeah.

I made it through on my 3rd try not sure exactly how it works, I
just tried to avoid heavier looking fog.
I dunno

But yeah I love the vibe

Loving this game every minute is a joy. The only thing I find offputting is the way its laid out, knowing you can go straight to the final boss is an odd feeling. Kind of makes everything else feel less important compared to the progression based structure of others. Still 10/10 easily.

I decided to try and storm Hyrule Castle for the heck of it with one dungeon completed. Big mistake!

I also beat Ruta last night, my first divine beast. Fantastic design. Short, yes, but also super memorable and cleverly designed. I love how the core "mechanic" of the dungeon was tied into the narrative of the area (
causing the rain
) which impacted how you got to
Zora's domain
and also figured centrally in the design of the dungeon. It made that entire "quarter" of the game world - the area and dungeon and narrative - feel interwoven. I prefer this approach to the isolated nature of dungeons in past Zelda games, with a thin narrative connection to some character or object.

Only opened like two zones on the map and I've basically been going around and hunting for shrines. I don't know if I'm ever going to complete this game as there's just SO MUCH STUFF.

I'm only at the second village, but I'm very impressed. It's funny how we originally thought the game had no towns or a lot of NPC interaction, but we actually have full RPG-caliber towns with NPCs finally in the same level as the ones in MM.

It's the most fun I had in a game for a long time.

To be fair I havent attempted that but I was under the impression that there is no way to really make yourself stronger since you have access to all your abilities from the off.

Where can I find the maracas plant guy to unlock more weapon slots? Found him one time outside of K
akariki Village
, but he only allowed me to unlock two slots.

Is it only the death mountain octoroks who do this?

Wood and water octorocs just spit out their rocks / seeds / whaetever without sucking in air first.

Oh btw, there's this one bird on that tiny island in the ocean in the north east (south of the labyrinth island) - i play the game in german, but his song makes it seem like something happens at "17:00" - i actually waited around on that island for 8 ingame hours and couldn't really find shit on the oceans / shores surround me.

Anyone care to give me a hint, if this is really something that happens at 5pm only or whether or not the 17 is about something else, like directions (South-south-east, in that case).

he shows up at stables further north, and finally settles down in the
Lost Woods / Korok woods

You could have done it if you kept at it. I made it to Ganon within two hours. Haven't done any dungeons. Only done ten shrines, and haven't got my second spirit orb upgrade yet. You learn how best to play when you have fewest resources. It truly feels like a game of survival.
Plus the castle rewards you with some really nice items. I found a claymore in there with 75 attack power. It was pretty useful for flurry rushes against the Lynel in the guard tower. Plus bomb arrows are all over the place. Whenever the odds seem stacked against me, I pull a bomb arrow. The great equalizer.
