Beat the story today.

The theme that plays while you ascend (final area spoiler even though it's obvious at the beginning of the game)
Hyrule Castle
has the most awesome music.

Blown away by this game, really.

Holy shit!

Dragon ball ref became so real in this one!

I leave the thread for a minute and you guys start dropping them mind-blowing videos.

This game. This incredible, beautiful bastard of a game.

I could never get the bonus chest in that one. I tried spinning with the hammer and going 1, 2, 3, 4, stop (5th hit from stopping), and then hitting it with another weapon, but was but was not far enough. 6 hammer hits was too much.

You can strike it with different weapons to apply different amounts of force if you need more control.

Asked this earlier about the Divine Beasts but didn't get a response.

Is there anything worthwhile in the chests? It seems to be generic loot but shrines also just seem to hold generic loot for the most part and the game tracks if you collected them all. I think I got all the chests but there doesn't seem to be a way to confirm and it says you can't return to the Divine Beasts after completing them. I just want to make sure I'm not accidentally screwing myself over from every getting 100% in the future.
A few of them have ancient material and minerals, some have weapons, i imagine on the off chance you're under equipped. Doesn't seem that important.

Finished it. If you load your save after you see a sidequest and shrine quest counter, useful. I have 21,5% completion lol. 71 shrines done, the exploration continues.

43/76 sidequests
17/42 shrine quests

Jesus christ....

I just fought my White-Maned Lynel, and it was using some kind of Club weapon that I hadn't seen before. I have 12 hearts and it kept 1-shoting me, so I decided to use a max defense buff. Now each attack brought me down to a half heart! Halfway through the fight, a storm rolled in so I had to find shelter while fighting the thing. I managed to kill the Lynel by throwing my weapon at it and then immediately getting a heashot with Shock Arrows, then while it was stunned my sword attracted a lightning strike which finished it off.

That was the best fight I've had in this game. It was incredible!

first time environmental clues let me down in the game...soilers for the quest about the 8th statue in the gerudo zone

was looking for the 8th gerudo paladin/swordwoman/ whatever is called in the english version...the quest giver tells me i have to search on the gerudo highlands, so i set off for the place.
In a previous excursion to the place i noticed an enormous stone sword thatn now made sense, since it was the same kind the other statues in the gerudo desert had.
only problem is..while the statue was indeed in the gerudo highlands..its location made no freaking sense with the location of the sword, since it was on the side of the mountain while the enormous sword was on the peak..how exactly that sword arrived so far away from the statue itself?

it's the first time that environment analysis let me own in this game...

Dude no, it made total sense
the sword is next to a gigantic trail... like an enormous statue was displaced from there all the way to the current statue location. When I saw the sword, I followed the trail and sure enough I found the statue.

Jesus,

This GAME

I'm still very early on, but I finally had the moment where I thought to myself - "Yep, this game is everything it was hyped up to be" - I've fallen hard for it

114 shrines...ugh beginning to get tempted to look up the ones I'm missing. Stopped being where I go to a place I'd think I was missing one and there it'd be.

The % on the map is just the map completion. Discovering shrines, map regions, map labels, and korok seeds.

At what stage are people heading to the Master Sword and the region I'm assuming it's in? I'm two dungeons down, 53 shrines. I was going to leave it until I'd cleared all the dungeons but thinking I won't have much time to play with it then.

You should be able to get it by now. All you need is 13 hearts. I got it before my fourth dungeon, to keep with the series tradition of three dungeons -> Master Sword.

I got it as soon as I got
13 hearts
but to be honest, I kinda regret doing so. The sword gets a buff when near Guardians and the Dungeon bosses. I was then able to take out the Goron boss within a minute because it was buffed to 60 attack.

What does the upgraded Sheikah Sensor do? I currently have the Sheikah Sensor turned off, so I wonder if it's even worth upgrading and/or actually worth using it after getting the upgrade.

yeeah holy shit I just finished as well and was shocked at my low completion percentage of around 19%. Crazy. Korok seeds take up so much. Is there anything for reaching 100%?

Anything you take a picture of and catalogue you can use the upgraded sensor to track it down. Its situationally very useful if you need to grind rare enemies or materials.

I am there right now after 1 main dungeon, 60 shrines, 9 hearts and 55 hours.

Yeah.

good to know there's plenty shrine quests, so far most of them have been really good

First time I've had to use a guide 50+ hours in was to get that last memory, how were you supposed to use any of that picture to know where it was?

The gyro puzzles are literally my biggest issue. I mean, I got them and they weren't that hard, but these kinds of motion control puzzles aren't fun. They're a chore. Leave that kind of game design in the past with the Wii, Nintendo.

I totally cheesed the first gyro puzzle I found. Turns out you can flip the whole maze thing upsidedown to easily roll the ball to the goal. You have to be playing in non-handheld mode though.

I'm taking longer than I would like to find all those Zora murals. I know I can go back and talk to the old guy again for general directions, but even then I'm struggling to find the last few I need. I could use a guide, but fuck that lol

ARGH!!

First half waterblight ganon is easy, but once the water rises thoes ice blocks are a headache. especially once it's like 5 blocks.

GAF, how do I start the quest to get the Master Sword?

I've done 3 of the beasts/ main dungeons. And every time I go to the
lost woods
, I get to the place with the
two fire pillars
and
keep getting sent back.

I don't want to look it up and it being all spoiled, but I heard you can find out more from NPCs.

Help me, GAF. You're my only hope.

I used green trees, ancient battlefield to piece together it was that area or Hyrule field probably, especially with Impa's half day ride comment. Akalla also has fall trees. Then the mountains looked like the ones behind Hateno gate. I went out and matched them up with a photo of the picture. I looked at bodies of water and ruin landmarks. Took a bit and I doubted my initial guess/did other things for a time, but it worked for me.

Pretty disappointed by how simple the dungeons are. Takes 45 minutes max for me including the boss (if I'm properly prepared) even if I go for all the chests. There's usually only one or two interesting puzzles too. AND there's only 4... Id imagine this game is gonna have a big backlash by people who want substantial dungeons. That being said, I'm getting my puzzling fill from the shrines (namely the trials, the mazes and lost woods stuff is pretty cool.) But I really miss having long, elaborate dungeons with a bunch of interesting puzzles.

the first half up to the two fire pillars is setting you up to know how to continue.

Memory spoiler
Am I lead to believe at one point in time Link was so powerful he could defeat an entire army of Lynels while just getting a minor scratch on his face? Or were they just weaker back then before Ganon came to full power?

Also this memory took 45 minutes of me climbing the same 3 mountains to find and it wasn't worth it

I kind of miss the dungeons as well, mainly for the atmosphere, but let's be real. The puzzles in most of them weren't interesting (there are certainly some exceptions). The shrine puzzles are probably the best we've ever seen in a Zelda game.

To get through the
lost woods
, you
have to light a torch and follow where the flame embers are pointing.

It's not just about the complexity of a puzzle, though. There's a different feeling to exploring an isolated and enclosed space and trying to piece by piece progress through it versus a single room with a single puzzle in it.
