The one thing about this game that is really frustrating me is not being able to write notes/stamps on the map. I think that would help a ton.
As it is, here is how I use the symbols:

Sword - nothing yet

bow and arrow - where I think a memory may be

shield = something interesting

cooking pot - cooking pot

star - shrines and towers spotted but that i haven't been to yet

chest - treasure chest I haven't got

skull - stronger mini boss type enemies

leaf - where I think a korok may be but I haven't solved the puzzle

Diamond - large area of items or equipment

The big Yiga ninjas can really take punishment. I got ambushed by one while fighting a stationary Guardian. Managed to get the Guardian to fire the laser at the ninja and it only did like 20% damage.

They can take a beating but the sword you get from them is worth it. It's basically a mini Storm Ruler.

Never touched those stamps

For as much as I love this game, the lack of enemy variety is still a negative for me. I know Kinsei made a post about how the enemies omitted were enemies that wouldn't drop weapons, but I feel the Zelda team could have made variants that were weapon wielders.

Darknuts, Iron Knuckles, and Stalfos (legit Stalfos, not just Stal variants of enemies) in particular all already wield weapons, so there's no reason they should have been excluded. The
large Yiga Clan members
are kinda like Darknuts, but I want legit Darknuts in addition to them. Darknuts and Iron Knuckles could be reliable ways to find some of the best weapons/shields/bows in the game.

Redeads and Gibidos could be undead zombie knights (similar to Twilight Princess).

Armos could be robotic knights.

Bubbles could go in the category of Chus and Keese that take one hit to die.

I just wish I fought something besides Bokoblins, Moblins, and Lizalfos all the time.

I do appreciate the addition of Lynels though. First time they appeared in a 3D Zelda, right?

It also would have been cool to see more mini bosses in the open world.

I've fought way too many Cyclops and rock monsters at this point

Jim gave Fallout4 a 9.5
I can't really take his opinions seriously.

well that were some big hits to the meta score, jims review alone wouldn't have done anything to the 98 guys. Thank the reviewer of this slant magazine, never heard of them but they gave it a 6/10 and they also reviewed No Man's Sky with a 9/10.

So you can guess what my opinion is about them lol.

I think this is my favorite zelda game ever btw, if only because i enjoyed playing through it just as much as my previous favorite, oot, but i can also see myself replaying it fairly soon which isn't something i can say about the others since they're linear experiences and i generally can't do that unless i wait a couple of years.

Doesn't like BotW because it's too big.

Gives No Man's Sky a 9.

Seems to check out.

Edit - It does not check out. Different reviewers. Shame on you, MTC100. And shame on me for not doing my due diligence.

No shame on either of us, I was fully aware, that there might be different reviewers at work. However the score reflects the outlet and I can't trust any site that gives No Man's Sky a 9 and dares to keep it that way indefinitely, NMS is a horrible game and the biggest dissapointment since Colonial Marines, I was very happy to use my first and until now last STEAM refund on it after 1 hour and 50 minutes playtime with it.

As for Jim: He doesn't like the concept(which was to be expected as BotW threw away most conventions Zelda and even most other modern videogames have), he thinks there are a lot other Zeldas that were better and he still gave BotW a 7 which is apparently "Good" -which is not a bad thing I guess.

The Mirro Shaz Shrine "Tempered Power" with the hole in one shot is the worst. I only got it with the hammer in the chest, after reloading an earlier save to come back in, because I broke the hammer the first time, along with 3 or 4 other weapons.

Actually, speaking of the
Yiga section,
has anyone tried to just sail from
Gerudo Tower to cliffs and then run and glide into the yard with the hole?
I wondered that as soon as I saw it was outdoors.

Use it for good weapons you find in enemy chests or lying around on the ground. The weapons respawn at blood moon.

Agreed. I'm pretty sure I've seen more Hinoxes than Lynels, Taluses, and Moldugas combined.

I have seen more Taluses than all others combined.
There's a pretty tough one on the beach, BTW.

D'oh @ 97, seemed like it was locked in at 98. Not that it really matters, but it was cool to see that insane score.

Anywho, i feel like in BotW I have a unique talent for always finding the hard way to get to something. Like I just found a shrine that I got to by climbing up a rockwall from the water, got to the top with a sliver of stamina left, and then turned around to see a fairly obvious path in.

I got to that place before ever going in the hideout. There was nothing there.

I came across that area that way before I ever got the mission there and wondered what the heck it was. I have no idea if it would progress the mission once you have it though, as I came in the other way once I got sent there.

I use equipment markers where I see/get good equipment so in case I need another one I know where to come back.

I use the gem marker to mark great mining spots.

Skull for bosses/lynels and also marks areas where
Kilton
stops by.

Leaf for Korok puzzles I saw but never finished.

All others I never use.

Yeah, I was on the mission to go there.

Huh, that's disappointing. I wonder if you have to go through all the rooms or if there's a certain spot where you can just walk in, teleport back out, and circumvent it. It's not hard at all, but it would have been neat if there was another way to break it.

Well, I beat it. Holy hell, what a game. I have a postgame spoilery question that's been in the back of my mind for some time now:

Why hasn't Zelda aged at all over 100 years?

Now I'm off to have an inner debate with myself to decide whether I should do the two dozen sidequests I have left.

You have to
burn down the big hanging flags.
. It's a Ninja hideout.
You think they have a front door?

I get the complaints about the weapon durability and all, but it makes sense in the context of a game. A major point of the design is to read your environment and use what's available to you in the most efficient manner possible. That includes deciding when to risk taking on a strong enemy or camp to take their weapon(s). Which wouldn't be needed if they didn't break frequently.

Holy fuck I somehow misread and thought the
Master Sword
only had 30 attack. It has 60 attack? Why even bother with anything else lol

So I've been trying to find a red Hinox for my compendium, all the Hinox I've found are blue or stronger, does anyone know if there any area with a guaranteed red one, or have the enemy scaling screwed me over?

imo it's on par or with or better than Majora's Mask. MM's 3 day system gives it emotional tension, BotW doesn't have that but the NPC's still have schedules, vivid personalities, and some of the character moments are really poignant.

imo I wish the reviewers talked about the story more, the overarching narrative is simple in its allusion to the classic games but the individual characters, interpersonal stories, the world building is pretty amazing.

At first I was trying to do just the main story...in doing that I didn't really appreciate the story.

It was when I started to talk to people (and do side quests) in the world that I enjoyed the story more. Now I actually love it.

spoiler for the ending of the gerudo part of the main quest

I tried to get the thunder mask but the matriarch says that i first have to solve all the problems in the citadel to get it..but i think i already did that..i looked everywhere inside the citadel and no one has a quest for me.what is a very well hidden quest in the citadel that i might be missing?
