The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT2| It's 98 All Over Again

To be honest with the kind of risks the game is taking I'm surprised it got this kind of critical acclaim. Not that I'm complaining, I think it's completely deserved. But it had to happen sooner or later.

Now you can look forward to a second wave of reviews -mostly youtubers- being much harsher to the game. The risks the game takes added to the skepticism that stems from a 98 metacritic game is going to make people really passionate about this game. It's already under a lot of scrutiny everywhere.

I believe journalism/critics are becoming less and less "critics," and more and more opinionated people.

I would go into more detail on the entire post, but this first part is just... excuse me... what? The whole point of a critic is to tell people their opinion on a piece, it's entire purpose is to be opinionated. They're not there to read off its features.

Anyone know a good place to farm Deer/animals for Raw Meat?

Looking to gather as much as possible to cook and sell in large quantities.

Hmmm... I had a bit of luck in the small forest area behind
Hateon Village, Retsam Forest I believe it was called, there's a guy nearby that lets you play a minigame where the goal is to kill as much deer as possible, and you can pick up their meat.

I've been hearing conflicting reports about
unbreakable weapons, namely that there's a way to combine the two repairable tridents into an unbreakable trident. Can anyone confirm if this is just a rumor or if that ability is limited to the Master Sword?

I think that was just an early rumor, I've seen no evidence that functionality ever existed.

I don't know what's going on. I have played all of Friday night, all of Saturday, andnow all of Sunday, only taking breaks to eat. I have literally done nothing else. I've even taken the Switch to bed each night to play a bit more.

I'm pretty sure this is purely a rumour. You should probably see how the latter weapon works yourself.

True, I was surprised as well even though I expected the game to perform in the 95-Range, 98 was just insane, 97 is still incredibly. And as one can see, the game got two bad reviews because of it trying something completely new from the old formula.

In the end though, it seems like the risk was very well worth it and pushed the genre to new limits.

All Champion weapons that you get for completing dungeons can be recreated after breaking.

Maybe he just liked it more?

As I've said before though I think it's silly to compare review scores given previously. Peoples taste, thoughts and opinions do change over time, that's a fact, and no reviewer is going to look at every single score they've given previously so they can give a correct score to a game...

As for problems with the game, have you not seen the 500 threads regarding durability, or all the complaints regarding weather effects? I'm amazed a reviewer didn't use that to knock points down before.

Either way, sometimes people can just not like an highly rated game as much as other people for various reasons. Reviewers are human. I'm pretty sure if I did a review of Last of Us, I'd be getting the same kind of shit Jim Sterling got, because I just didn't really think it was that great, good but not great. Even though everyone else thought it was gods gift to mankind. I feel that without having any feelings of ill will towards Naughty Dog or Sony.
The thing is that no reviewer before thought it was enough to discount more than 1 point, he discounted 3 points of it. He also says he can't understand why people give it 10. Like I said before I don't think his intensions are to knock down the game Metascore, but I think his relation to Nintendo is maybe affecting how he enjoys the game.

East of Hate no, coast dude, the shrine is far from the shore

Southeast
. One of them was a Mighty Test Of Strength all the way on
the island in the southeast.
Then I think there is one located on the
east lower side of Mt. Lyanru (sp?)

Oh no. I've really struggled with that shrine :(

I have the hat and pants. I want the amor to finish it. Its basically my default outfit in the game.

Sigh. Guess I need to stock up on health items.

Awesome, thank you! Trying to save up as much as possible for the Cold Resist outfit!

It's the only shrine I left without completing before coming back to it. I was pretty weak at that point though. Came back with more strength and powered up armors and also completely used to those types of enemies.

I just had my first tilt maze shrine puzzle. That was awful. I hope there aren't too many of these.

There are definitely more than you want

Just did my first random labyrinth shrine. Got a reward that looks like it's worth my time to find the rest of these
attack up armor

Got all the divine beasts. Now feeling strong as hell checking out the south east region before going to the castle. Game keeps on giving. Still feel like I have 20 plus hours of content of shrines and random other shit I keep finding. GOTY

Theres an even harder one too :x

I still suck at activating flurry rushes. I need to really master it before I head back.

Why is the WiiU on 94 out of interest? Is it worse?

Vast majority of reviews are for the Switch version, so I assume there are less 100/100s for the Wii U version to bring the average up.

EDIT: Just checked, and that's 5 critic reviews for Wii U version versus 81 for Switch.

there was a korok puzzle with a pinwheel stuck in a tree trunk and I stood on it and nothing happened D: usually stuff pops up for me to shoot. i tried bombing it, burning it, jumping down on it and hitting it. nada. someone help plsss

Is that the right image? There's only one block section shown.

I figured it out, game trolled the shit out of me.
The fucking other blocks were 100 feet away 50 feet up

Later on in some area's the block sections tend to be merged I got used to that style x.x

So I used an ancient arrow and Lynel bow on a Lynel and it dissappeared. Did I destroy it totally? It didn't drop anything.

Do not use those arrows on anything but guardians if you want drops

So? Maybe it just bothered him more.

While I don't agree with his complaints(besides the durability system), I think he's explained plenty enough reasons to dock 3 points off. The Stamina and Durability systems especially are rather large and other aspects of the game are designed around them, so if you don't like them they can impact quite a bit of the game.

I dunno, I just don't agree with stooping to credibility insults at reviewers who dare to complain about something in a game. I think it's silly, and if I'm honest, childish.

Furthermore if he really wanted to do that, he could have given it a lower score. I've seen him give rather large named games especially low scores, such as 4/10.

I disagree. The definition of critique is to take an analytical approach to the material. The key word here is analytical, to analyze and give a professional review (which also implies by definition, an analytical approach).

An opinion is more of a judgement based off of personal beliefs. You really cannot mix the two approaches. Either critique the game, or give a personal opinion based of experience. If it's the latter, it should never be considered a professional review in any way. It's an opinion piece after all.

Honestly. I don't even have to. When they do their attack and miss that's my time to take some shots at them. I usually get some flurry rushes in too but I'm more about keeping my distance so I don't trigger them as much as I would like, but like I said the enemy gives me enough time to attack anyway.

600 Rupees to get something to help sneak into a town... gimme a break.

Yeah there are high rupee locks for many things. Pretty much accustomed to grinding a lot of that black rock when on your way to a new area to get lots of rubies and shit. Nothing like finding the fairy or getting into town and being hit with a 1000 rupee fee. You almost get no rupees for doing most quests so you are forced to manually grind a bit

What is painful is when you realize late the double purpose for some of the materials you find to craft many things. If I knew that ahead of time I would have just cooked raw meat and to hell with most elixirs.

Look around you when you are on the stump. There will be balloons or acorns flying around somewhere near by. Sometimes they can be difficult to spot

In the village to the east beginning with H (I can't remember the name) there is a repeatable minigame to shoot as many deer as possible in a time limit. You can pick up the meat, which is often gormet. It's in the ranch a bit up the hill.

Also as an extra, does anyone know a way to scale a hundred feet up a waterfall in less than 10 seconds? Is the only korok seed I cants see how it's done.

The second half of the battle is what kills me. I just always lose during the beam spam.

I'm motivated to try this again.

Some of them are sniper challenges, look far in the distance

Agreed. Not really fair at all.

I've to agree not because of Jim but because I've seen indies devs talk how it is important for them the to target which reviewers you need to send your game to have a chance to be reviewed.

Because many will not take a look at indies games because that's not might not the type what they like to play. Even total biscuit admited he will be attracted to games who are short if it's not what he likes just to fill a hole in his schedule.

That's why I agree with the person I quoted because this apply also to professional games.
