I get it, but criticizing someone for their followers is generally pretty sketchy. Colin fosters that to a certain degree, but at the same time there are people who you look up to who are also followed by terrible people. Like I said, Colin does bear some responsibility... just feels sketchy.

People are attracted to others that have shared characteristics or beliefs.

Agree. He grounds a lot of their conversations. All that's left are hype men.

Very much agree. I think this will hurt KF quite a bit. I know there are people in this thread say they're now becoming subscribers, but i think when you look at the actual KF community, people are upset.

Because ignoring racism and sexism doesn't make it go away

oh I know that but we don't need a thread for every dumb fucking thing JT says because then the entire front page would be nothing but that. pointing and going "this guy is a fucking dumbass" won't make him go away either. I'd argue that those threads are just another platform for him and we don't need to give him and his ilk any oxygen here.

I have mixed opinions about this.

Colin and Greg have been one of my favorite duos in the industry for a long time. I've watched them since their IGN days. So it's sad to see them break apart. I don't know how Kinda Funny is going to be now. Colin is going to be missed on PS I Love You XOXO. I don't think anyone else on Kinda Funny has the same knowledge of Sony as Colin did to talk with Greg. So are we getting somebody new?

With that said, this was clearly going to happen. Colin often looks disinterested in topics and he's been talking about politics more than games. I respect him for not being afraid to be a right wing voice in a left leaning market, but I think he handles it wrong. I understand the argument he is making, but he argues for unity and civil discussion while basically trolling people on the left. He always makes passive aggressive comments at the democrats/left. I thought he was annoying when Trump won because he was rubbing it in their faces. He effectively started to divide the fanbase and made the company too political. By having one side of fans thinking he is out of line and another side thinking those fans are cry babies, you have created a toxic environment among the fanbase. And it's quite obvious KF didn't want to be so political. Forget if they lean left, they clearly didn't want their company to be so political. The joke about women was the final straw.

Colin clearly wants to get into politics now. He's been doing games for so long. It was time for him to move on. He's beloved by the right people of the gaming community. Somebody will embrace him and make him the voice of the right wing in the industry. His fans will call the rest of KF snakes and cry babies, and then venture off with him.

And KF will move on. I think they did the right thing.

I can understand disagreeing with Colin's political stance and trollish Tweets, but he's by far the most knowledgeable about the gaming industry on the Kinda Funny payroll. They'll be worse off without him, I have to say.

I can agree with this completely. He added the other dynamic to the group so now I can't see them without him. Let's hope they can bounce back and keep KF alive.

Colin is the only reason i kept my sub still alive this long and even though i might not agree with everything he says he's the only one who ever had anything to real to say and wasn't a living advertisement and kept a nice weight on the conversations and without him KF isn't KF. End of an era for sure and i hope everyone continues to find success but it's just not going to be the same.

Colin leaving is going to leave a massive blow and people who hate Colin can pretend to overlook that because they got upset over a few words but you're fooling yourselves.

His hot takes on politics, philosophy, economics etc mirror that of sheltered teenagers that read Atlas Shrugged for the first time.

Oddly what ended up turning me off them was his stance on PS Pro. He was grossly misinformed about it and refused to listen to facts or anyone else stance on it.

Actual Easy Allies are harsh critics compared to most reviewers. They just try to point out the positive in things they don't like.
Yep. They are extremely critical (watch their e3 coverage last year where Jones just obliterates EA) but are always willing to point out what they enjoyed about something not just be critical for the sake of it

It's why I love them

yeah, and people suggesting Tim to take his role on PS I Love You are delusional

They should just kill that show

Why? Tim has been in fantastic form lately, he is also the only one that has bothered to try the PS4 Pro so he's better informed that Colin or Greg right now.

Are him and JonTron going to start a channel together?

Kinda Right-wing games.

It's funny, while watching Colin on the Rubin Report, and with the background knowledge of the whole tweet fiasco, I thought to myself that Colin had the ability to make a name for himself in this sphere. It was evident to me that politics is where his true passion lies. Interesting to see that he cited as much in his post.

He had no problem calling anybody who didn't find his jokes funny a "humorless sack of shit" but couldn't take the time out to denounce these fuckwads spouting off "Fuck Islam" and "Feminists are cunts" IN HIS NAME? Any normal, level headed person would not want their name associated with that kind of garbage. What does that signify other than a seal of approval? He's 100% complicit in the toxic community he has fostered.

The crazy thing is that he might have been the "smart political guy" when he was in a room with Greg and Tim but I don't see how that's going to be lucrative when he actually starts debating and having conversations with people who are knowledgeable about these subjects.

Or he'll hang out in the Beck and Rubin circles where the bar is way lower.

Yeah, things tend to fall apart when he goes up against anyone with an education in history or political science. The conversations get interesting though, because he doesn't have the crutches to fall back on and has to concede points and make less rediculous ideological claims.

All respect to Tim, Nick, and Greg; but they're not political or policy junkies and you can tell they're never comfortable calling Colin on his lazy arguments because they're not confident on their own knowledge in that area usually.

Just looking over their YouTube channels, content featuring Colin or hosted by him (Colin Was Right) has procured the highest number of views for KF in the recent past but it's not like they're a gangbuster channel. I would imagine a large amount of their funding comes from sponsors and their Patreon.

I will keep listening to PSxoxo for a while still, to see where it goes, but knowing Colin is gone likely spells the end for me. I foresee Greg reaching out to the likes of Altano or others on the IGN cutting room floor, but it's hard to be as enthused because the dynamic between Greg and Colin was so strong.

Not unexpected. I would definitely leave as well if my "best friend" had thrown me under the bus by writing an essay just because I made a light joke.
Maybe that "light joke" crossed a line.

Friends don't have to accept their friends doing shit they don't like. That's not how friendship works.

People were extremely upset when JonTron left game grumps but now it's more popular than it's ever been

KF will be fine

Well, one of two things had to happen.
Either his shitty political opinions should've gotten meaningful opposition from one of the other KF members, or Colin should leave and take his politics elsewhere.

KF just wasn't the place to tout this kind of stuff unchallenged.

I always enjoyed beyond and colin had some fantastic articles at IGN but I never really got into kinda funny much as he grew more and more... well annoying. Bad views, bad opinions, bad politics.

I'll miss those older days but doesn't really surprise me now.
