Injustice 2 Roster Discussion & Speculation Thread

I really think people are overestimating the scope of premier skins -- there are likely only going to be a small handful of identity changes, and they're all going to make a ton of sense. Anything that seems even remotely reachy (Brainiac as Lex or Deadshot as Deathstroke) probably isn't going to happen.

Besides the three pre-order character swaps, we'll probably get Freeze and one or two more.

I'm still bemused by the fact they had Bryan Cranston narrate the first trailer (with dialogue that suggested he could've been Ra's) and absolutely nothing is going to come of it.

I'll take John Constantine as DLC/Dr. Fate alternate skin as a consolation prize, please, Netherrealm.

Seriously. Please.

I think they'll actually do a bunch of them because it's how the first mobile game was the last year. Jessica Cruz, Rebirth versions of everyone, movie skins etc. Same move sets in most cases but with a fresh coat of paint.

The MKX announce trailer had Wiz Khalifa but the soundtrack had no aspect of rap. It's just a hype thing with a known name.

I'm expecting a bunch of movie and TV premier skins, just very few that actually change the character's identity and require new actors/dialog.

Yeah, I can see maybe 1 each at most with new VA. Can see many not get a new one. GL will probably get a voiced Kyle skin since John is one already.

So what are the odds of NRS getting Mark Hamill as Joker?

All due to respect to Richard Epcar (love him as Akuma, Raiden, & Old Joseph), but Hamill is the golden standard for Joker.

It's 100% Epcar.

He tweets about Joker all the time and hints about doing the voice for the sequel. Also, if you listen closely in the lines redrawn trailer, when Superman shoves his fist through Joker's chest you can faintly hear Epcar screaming.

Well they did say there were going to be a ton of them. Of course, what their definition of a ton means is unknown haha. I fully expect 6 to 9 more after the initial wave of skins, and I guess some of them are unlockable?

Movie and TV costumes (and even other comic costumes that wouldn't work as gear) are considered premier skins, and I don't doubt that a bunch of those are lined up. I just think NRS is going to be conservative with the skins that change a character's identity and voice. Those take a lot of work.

Supes and Bats are definitely getting premier skins. Cyborg Superman as one of the unlockables perhaps?
I want douchebag fanboy Superboy Prime. That would be awesome. He should be complaining about how everyone looks wrong, "your face is messed up" etc.

I didn't meant to derail this thread. If we are getting two ore four more characters than we expected. (31 or 33).

Who would you like to see to make in base roster?

Lex Luthor and Sinestro would bring this roster up from a 7/10 to a 9/10 for me.

I could definitely see Lex and Sinestro making the base roster. I don't care for Lex, but I love Sinestro and want to see NRS give him a revamp on the level of some of the other returning veterans.

I would expect a lot of CW skins ya.

Supergirl
Flash
Green Arrow
Canary
Firestorm
Cold
I'm wondering if they'll touch DCEU skins. I'm sure Wonder Woman is likely.

Jared Leto Joker though...yeesh.

I want to see Lex return in the base roster.

I just want Shazam back :/

That would be awesome, didn't even think of Superboy but he seems like a good candidate too.

Redirecting you to my post :
Yeah this 100% confirms they are not getting a Cavill premium skin (outside of costume potentially).

They went out of their way to completely alter their Superman to make him look like a double of Cavill with minor differences (to avoid having to pay the rights).

Remember he used to be like that.

Not that I'm complaining as their Superman was awful.

edit :

With all those quotes I double posted.

I thought Starfire would be boring from the start, but now she seems even more unnecessary with Firestorm having an almost completely fire-based move set.

I'm stoked for a Leto skin because I'll only choose that for P2 in training mode so I can forever beat the everliving fuck out of him.

That's a good question. I want Constantine but I'm sure he's DLC (I hope). If we're 2 villains short in the base roster (for OCD reasons) then I want Black Manta and Ra's .

firestorm reveal was so boring :|

alsoi cant believe starfire's fate is uncertain, isn't she like the most popular teen titan next to cyborg?

Cyborg is like the least popular, as far as "known" Titans to mainstream it'd probably go Beast Boy, Robin, Raven, Starfire, Cyborg.

Edit: Actually, move Raven ahead of Robin.

I think it's a fight between Cyborg and Beast Boy for the least popular of the (cartoon) Teen Titans. I'd say Cyborg would be dead last if it wasn't for DC's push and making him part of the League. How popular is Beast Boy?

Robin, Starfire and Raven are well ahead.

I don't think Beast Boy has even had a solo title. Cyborg has at least had a number of mini-series, even before DC started pushing him to the front lines on the Justice League. DC wouldn't be pushing him if people weren't buying his books or there wasn't interest in the character.

Books don't mean shit next to the TV show tbh

I hadn't read a single Teen Titans comic before New 52 (whereupon Cyborg had already moved to the big leagues) and my love for Cyborg stems wholly from the animated series, as I'm sure it does for many others, so I do agree in some part. You can still look to the comics, however, as an indicator of popularity.

I mean sure, but you're still comparing Cyborg comic sales of like 20k to TV shows which have a viewer base in the millions. And of course Dick and Titans both well outsell him.

I'm not claiming Cyborg is the most popular Teen Titan. I absolutely agree with you that Cyborg is only more popular than Beast Boy. I was responding to your point about DC's repositioning of Cyborg.

Cyborg didn't join the Justice League in the Teen Titans animated series. That happened in the comics. You were already drawing comparison between the series and the books.

Cyborg has had a number of mini-series before the push began, that must have sold well in order for them to even consider his Justice League membership a worthwhile change.

What are you even on about? Cyborg's position in the Justice League has spread to all media.

The books are where things happen first but they're not where public consciousness lies. More people have seen Cyborg in the JL trailer and those animated movies than any book. DC knows that.

Captain Marvel isn't in everything Marvel related because people love her or she has a great selling book, it's because they're going to shove her down everyone's throats in the hope that they'll just accept her as important. Same here.

You asked how popular Beast Boy was (largely in comparison to Cyborg given the context of your question) and given Beast Boy hasn't appeared outside of the DC's animated output and comic books, it's only fair to compare their popularity across those formats. Hence why I said I didn't even think Beast Boy had ever had a mini-series or solo title, unlike Cyborg, who has had a few even before DC began their repositioning/push of the character to the big leagues.

I've just watched the Firestorm "reveal" and I'm somewhat disappointed. I was hoping we'd see more transmutation and less "Human Torch". He looks fantastic though. I'd love to see a Deathstorm Premier Skin at some point. I think NRS could do it justice.

I wonder what Firestorm's "Energy Shield" and "Atomic Burst" specials look like. You can see them in the move list printout.

Outside of his headwear being a little awkward, Firestorm is probably one of the better looking characters, face and costume wise.

Shame they completely squandered his powers.

I'll get over it eventually, but I'm gonna complain for awhile.

To be fair, we've only seen two of his five-plus special moves in action, and we don't know the full extent of his character power.
