It gets even more adorable when it's all done, the kids stand at the take off point overlooking Warbler's Nest adding birdsong to the Rito Village theme.
OMG, just witnessed this hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng and then they run to their house thing for bedtime together bumping and all that, passing a lone Molli. :(

It's funny that they didn't animate them going into bed though, I had to run around the rock to get them to sleep.

One of my biggest complaints with this game so far is how "gamey" it can be. There's a sense of adventure I sometimes get into and start feeling and those gamey elements just come and blind side me, completely pulling me out.

My game time played finally updated, been dying to know how much time I've put in. I think it shows 24 hours after you get the Parental Control app because I installed it yesterday around this time and it finally updated from the normal "X days ago" to this.

I've tried to just do the main quest, and I'm still having a bad time. I did the Rito dungeon and it sucked, I was devastated when I realized that it was just a collection of 5 unrelated puzzles in a line. I'm in the process of getting to the Zora dungeon, so far I've
run through a path only obstructed by Lizalfos, sat through an awful anime cutscene with the Zora girl, and pressed A against a waterfall so that I could climb up and kill another Lynel. Then I saw Tingel island in the distance and prayed that it would have something interesting, but it was just another shrine.

Rito is the worst main quest by a mile, it's pathetic. Zora is much better.

In a spoiler free way if possible, what "major" things should I try to do before fighting Ganon and finishing the game (focusing on plot)? To be clear I'm not trying to 100% the game, but am instead looking to experience most of the significant content on offer.

Right now, I'm thinking:
All four divine beasts
All memories
Master Sword
Armor sets?

Is there anything else I'm unaware that I should be trying to do?

If I upgrade the climbing gear does that make me climb even faster? Or am I just upgrading the defense points of the set?

You upgrade the defense points, and once every piece is at 2 stars or above you'll consume less stamina while climbing when they're all worn together.

Want to upgrade my Champion's tunic, what's the best spot to
hit Farosh' horn
?
Teleport to the Lake Hylia Tower, glide down to bridge entrance, set up a campfire under the entrance so it won't get hit by rain, wait until night, go onto the bridge and mover up a little bit till you see a broken part of the bridge on your left, the thing will be flying right in that path way, as it's coming toward you, glide toward it and pull a Pikachu vs Rhydon on it

That's what you call an adventure \o/
You don't know what when who you will discover.

Is there a way to see how many shrines I have hit? The only thing I see is number of Spirit Orbs I have that are unspent, but that doesn't really tell me anything.

Checked the logs on my Wii U. At 135 hours so far. Some of that is idle time though. Have done a lot grinding the last few days. Especially to upgrade all my armor sets. I think I have them all now (excluding Amiibo), except missing a leg piece from one of them.

- As for weapons, most of them are 60+, and shields are 40+.
- Also done all main quests except Ganon.
- Cleared 3 cities (of I am not mistaken).

As of now I will work on getting the rest of cities cleared. After that it is Ganon I guess.

It really have been a blast. My favorite Zelda world. Will wait for Ganon before I decide if it will be my all time favorite. It is a very strong candidate.

I think I broke a side quest. I am seriously stuck

Robbie's Research

I lit furnace with the blue flame before I saw Robbie since the getting the light up there cause many deaths I am not sure what went wrong but the robots store is open. Robbie has nothing to say but asking if I am Link. I can't get a dialog to tell him I got the furnace working

Get naked, then talk to him.

Let's see... at 26 shrines complete, beat
Zora's Domain and currently at Rito
. Am I going too mainline? Also I'm not sure if I should be trying to do the
flying boss
at this point. I don't have any cold armor lol

My favorite aspects of the "open" world are actually the more confined locales, like the various mazes/labyrinths such as the
Lost Woods or the huge Maze Runner labyrinths
in the corners of the world. And I just did
Eventide, which I found to be so cool, but I wish it were more involved and the island just a bit bigger. And much harder
. When I'm doing that stuff I feel more engaged than just wandering fields and whatnot.

The world is still great but I still feel like a more confined, focused open world design would be great and fine. Like still have it large and open but with more "game design" instead of just the massive wide openness. Have some of that, yes, but it doesn't have to be that big to still be big, impressive and wondrous. The more focus-designed places I think are a lot more fun to be in.

It's still like, best game ever material but with some refinements... damn. I can't even imagine.

Can we take a moment and talk about how brilliant the lost woods puzzle is? No hints no text it just throws you in and gives you two things.

A torch and a place to light it. I just thought it was a light source but after about 4 or 5 failed attempts I started to look for any signs of a correct way to go I knew that I could go fairly far left after my repeated failures so I started there. I tried a few different things like keeping my path lined up with the tree faces but I was still stumped

Finally I stopped and reassessed the situation. I knew the game had given me a torch and fire and then while I was thinking I noticed the wind was blowing the torch left. So I followed it's direction I then noticed the direction of the embers had changed. So I shifted direction and I eventually wound up at the Deku tree. The wind guided me through the lost woods in an invisible way

The game so subtly gave you the tools to find the answer and then made brilliant use of the physics engine to bring you to your destination it absolutely blew me away.

This is the kind of mind bending think outside the box puzzle that I love in Zelda and other games and it's been missing for so long.

Of course I didn't have room for the torch or any wooden weapons so I just brute forced it by marking a path on the map. Options!

I can point to a few "gamey" things. But, on the overworld especially, they are few and far between.

The Switch shows that I have 20+ hours into the game. I've only met Impa and next need to go see the researcher that she told me to visit. I've also only explored the Great Plateau and the area of the map that Impa's village is in. Nothing else. Is the game going to take me forever at this rate?

Yeah the thing that made the Lost Woods work for me was that the
first flame points at a perpendicular to the vector you're naturally approaching from
, so it's pretty conspicuous.

So I've done (I think) all the main stuff (Beasts, memories, Lost Woods, at least found all the Great Fairies, upgraded my runes), and I'm considering an assault on the castle. Is there any reason to hold off? I have a bunch of stuff I still want to do in the world (didn't even attempt any of the labyrinths yet), but will defeating Ganon lock anything off? How's the world change after I cast down the Calamity?

I mean you can head to Ganon at anytime

Sort of off topic, but today the management from Symphony of the Goddesses released their schedule for stops this year. 5% discount if you get tickets now and they're gonna be playing new arrangements from BotW. My sister is awesome and got us both tickets for the San Diego Comic Con showing at the very goddamn front and in the center. Gonna be awesome.

Just enjoy yourself and go at whatever pace you like. Don't think about playtime. If you get bored with exploration it's easy enough to go do the main quests and finish the game. This game is large enough to be overwhelming but you don't have to do everything to have fun.

Just has my first handheld switch sesh corresponding to the divine beast Vah Ruta dungeon. Which was my first dungeon.

sogood.gif like, great and battery life not too bad. Played 1hr50mins and had 45% charge left, but who knows if the drain is linear. Indies hopefully last longer.

Mipha. My god. Right in the feels.

Really good view of the area when one falls? I heard it was a good place to watch for them.
Maybe. To me it's not really worth the time needed to just stand there and do nothing. You'll naturally see them fall as you're moving around the world anyway.

The Tarrey Town quest is so nice and upbeat. Everyone is doing what they want in a peaceful little plateau.

That was one of my favorite things in the game so far. I went there pretty early following the Robbie quest, even though that whole zone really shouldn't be your first destination. But I was real glad to have done it, I let that quest chain dictate my Beast order. Added a really cool sense of permanent progression to the main quest. After I beat each Beast I had the reward of going back to see how Tarrey had grown waiting for me.
