My experience in lost woods is a bit different than you guys...

Took the torch, and lit it and went the direction of the wind. However I saw a deer and it ran off, I followed the deer and it led me into the end. I fully thought the wind was to direct me to the deer and the deer leads the rest of the way...

It happened to me twice. One when I hid behind a tree that he can't aim his arrows at me. The other one, because I move too fast and he can't catch me when he rotates, he just gave up rotating and teleported behind me.

No shit. Well now Imma try to get one to do that. I've only seen one teleport up a cliff.

Calamity Ganon, who?

I am enjoying exploration so much! I haven't even done any main quests after getting off the starting area.

Loving every new area I get to and it seems like the world has something new in every corner for me to be in awe over.

I just got to
Zora's Domain
and saw
Lynel
, is it possible to kill?

I already had enough arrows but I felt like exploring to see.

I just died but will try again hah.

Just found the tower near
Hyrule Field
surrounded by Guardians that blast lasers at you while you're scaling it. That was freaking intense. I got my ass up there, though.

Yes, killed him with 6 hearts, went through 6 weapons to do so.

Basically just dodge his slashing attacks into a furry strike and run behind a rock for his charge attacks.

I just a video and then went straight ahead it worked

I'm annoyed that the
dragons
are not proper boss fights (and the boss fights we do have are rather disappointing). Completely wasted them. If you purified
Lanayru
you should get an idea how cool that fight would be, if they actually fought back (though I guess the other ones kind of do, passively). It would almost entirely aerial, span pretty much "miles" of the game world, and maybe you could throw in some climbing mechanics (also likely dodging the rather simplistic parry/rush mechanics that simplify other decent enemies). Would blow people's minds.

Enemy variety is a huge mark against the game. Constantly I'm saying to myself stuff like "What if they reimagined other Zelda 1 bosses?"

God, it took me almost two hours to locate Gerudo Tower. I believe it's the only tower that's
not visible from most high points on the map.

Pretty cool that you have to
glide from above to land on the tower, instead of climbing it, like the rest of them.

The Shrine Quest associated with it is neat as hell too.

Yeah, I just did that one. Most of the Shrine Quests in this game are awesome.

How many unfinished side quests does everyone have? I've been trying to deal with them as I get them but lately I've let them pile up. I'm trying to break my completionist habit.

It me.

I spent the last 3 hours looking for it and finally found it and went "oh of course".

Do ancient cores have any use other than
rune upgrading and ancient gear crafting?
Just want to make sure before I spend them all.

Wow. I'm finally about 10 hours into this game, and guys

I think this game might be pretty good.

The best part is that I KNOW I wouldn't be liking it as much if it weren't on Switch. The ability to lay in bed with my girlfriend and keep playing is a game changer... if Horizon were on Switch (not trying to start a flame war, it's just the other game I'm playing right now), I would have probably finished it by now. What an awesome little system. Super happy with it.

I got destroyed by them.

I died three times but once I figured out the Guardian placement it wasn't too bad. You have to jump to the little platforms scattered on the tower while you're climbing it and duck when you get to one while your stamina builds back up. You should be able to make it with one stamina upgrade and if you're precise with your jumps no potions or meals required.

I thought it was a pretty awesome encounter :D

Yeah, that was one of my favorite towers to climb.

This game is chock-full of awesome moments like that.

The short answer is that a lot of Side Quests are lame on their own. They mostly direct you toward points of interest, so if you're into exploring on your own you can kind of just skip them. Several of the Shrine Quests have chains or little storylines. My plan is to do all the Shrine Quests I get but skip Side Quests unless there's something particularly interesting about them (like the Korok Village Side Quest leads you to 3 different Shrines, but that one is a special case). Also I'll probably do all the Gerudo Side Quests since the chief there specifically asks you to.

They also upgrade the armor set you can buy from Robbie's Robot. They're pretty easy to farm though if you just go dick around outside (or inside) the castle.

Yeah this is the first game I'll ignore sidequests I don't feel like doing. I mean what can they realistically give me? A weapon that is already out classed by something else I have or rupees

Northern map question

how do you navigate the lost woods? I got the master sword but I want to go to the other locations too.

Also, how many shrines are in that area. I only got three. Seems way too low.

You could play the game as a vegetarian if you wanted to.

I mean sure, but letting the meat that the bokoblins already cooked go to waste seems silly. Also lizards+reptiles can die, because fuck reptiles. What is weird though is how link collects the guts and bones of slain sentient monsters o_o

Of course I didn't have room for the torch or any wooden weapons so I just brute forced it by marking a path on the map. Options!
There was a torch beside one of the stationary ones. I saw it after I went back to town to get one lol

Oh and I'm proud of myself for never opening the map once as an additional challenge once I had entered the woods.

You don't collect the bones of your enemies? Teeth necklaces make a great gift for your significant other.

There are signs, directionwise, there is SW, NW and E.

On the home straight. End
boss fight with Calamity Ganon
and I'll be quite relieved to have the game behind me at this point for backlog reasons.

Otherwise, this is the most I've spent playing a Zelda game ever, easily beating any other Zelda game I've played combined (admittedly, not a high amount, but all the same). And what a game its been.

I feel pretty certain it'll be my GOTY unless Persona 5 is specfuckingtacular. Either way, what an achievement.

Is there cold protection gear that's better than the warm doublet (for cold not armor) or do you always need cold protection food for the coldest areas?

Also, any good recipes for increasing attack power? My weapons average around 30-40 but don't appear to be enough

Yes you can buy it in
the rito village

Amazing game, loving it. Played the hell out of it since I got the game on Thursday, still haven't found the first real dungeon, haha. I have some concerns about gear balance though after stumbling upon some "higher-level" loot in an adjacent zone, but I guess shit breaks so fast anyway. :P

Anyone else playing with the (early mechanic)
the shrine sensor
disabled? I felt like it would spoil a bit of the exploration fun... kinda hated the compass markers in Skyrim. Might re-enable it late-game to "100%".

Haven't quite figured out recipes... I can reach level 2 buffs by just using 3 of one item, also not sure what's the upside of using more advanced recipes with more "filler" items (like
the rice ball recipe that has rice and salt
). I mostly just chuck in some stuff that I figure might fit and see if it results to a named item I haven't seen before.

I beat my first Divine Beast -
Vah Ruta
and now there appears to be a
dungeon inside the beast

Pretty cool.

I think this is my game of the generation. It's silly how good this game is.

WiiU undub is so good. Japanese Deku Tree is amazing and Zelda doesn't sound fake. Wish there was a way to watch the Temple of Time cutscene again with the king.

I usually just switch languages and reload from an autosave before a cutscene. Zelda's JPN VA fits her character perfectly.

You can buy those at Rito I believe. You can also do a make-shift anti-cold gear by equipping Warm Doublet and a fire-imbued weapon. Mixing "mighty" ingredients provides attack power buff meals.

Shrine Sensor isn't really that very useful. Its detection can be misleading at times and a lot of the shrines are hidden behind shrine quests that they can't be detected.

Finally went ahead and wrapped up the game's story/final boss. Good stuff, easily the best game I've played in a long, long time. I was enraptured for over a hundred hours.

This was a great game, and I will now look to slowly finish off the remaining 12 shrines I have to go.

Otherwise, time to pick up I Am Setsuna I think.

I just got one from a shrine last night. The forest dweller's bow with 3x15 damage.

Mogg Latan shrine, on a hilltop directly west of Central Tower and south west of Ridgeland Tower.

this one looks hard but is really really easy when you figure out how to cheese the mechanics ;)

Thanks, this worked out great and I got my tunic upgraded.
