The hyperbole in all forms surrounding this from his fans is almost laughable....would've thought the guy died or something....Jesus.

Nah. This feels like a breakup of your favorite band. I've been fans of all these guys since I was 17. I'm almost 25 now. I've consumed hundreds of hours of content from them through various periods/phases of my life. This is a big deal to some people, myself included.

Well, I guess I might as well throw my opinion into this thread.

I was a practically religous podcast beyond listener, but dropped of when Greg and Colin left IGN. I always felt their insights on games was interesting, even if I didn't agree with them some of the times.

Despite being subscribed to KF, I can't say I watched much of their stuff. Mostly just subscribed to show Colin and Greg my support. For some reason, I didn't find a lot of their KF content interesting. So I honestly can't comment on any of this stuff most of you are talking about.

Colin always had radical political views, and I always felt it kinda detracted from their game discussions, but Colin is obviously passionate about it, even if most people here and straight up disagree with him.

I can't really claim to have strong political views. I am not an US citizen, but I know saying "what happens in the states doesn't effect me" is ignorant considering the US is one of the worlds largest powers, and what happens there will affect the world on a global stage. I also think a lot of what is going on there is bullshit, like the immigration ban. Its ridiculous.

I dodged a lot of the colin was right threads, mostly because some of the dirt people pulled on him felt a bit hard to believe, but also kinda expected. I dunno. Maybe its the rose colored glasses I am wearing from the Beyond days, but it sucks to see him being deconstructed like this.

Still, it feels sad to see him go. He and Greg have shared a presence together in all forms of digital content I want to say since 2007, so seeing them split apart feels bittersweet.

So yeah... I know this probably doesn't contribute much to the discussions going on here, but for me this kinda feels like an end of an era. Colin and Greg felt inseparable, even if their views crossed and interjected. I can't say I will miss Colin, since after Beyond I didn't watch much of their KF stuff. Just that this feels a bit odd.

It's like when Guns N Roses broke up, which was sad, but also understandable because Axl Rose was such an abrasive asshole.

100%. I'm excited for the futures of Colin and KF alike, but it's hard for me to deal with the fact that Colin and Greg won't be making content together anymore.

The very important takeaway, for me, has always been that Colin seems to think a lot of people are beneath him, especially those who disagree with him. I don't like that people like Colin have been given such a high platform from which to look down on others.

There are far more deserving people in this industry, with a genuine love and passion for the medium, who can also show respect for others without an ounce of cynicism, regardless of personal biases.

That person is not Colin Moriarty.

You are entitled to your opinion but I don't believe Colin has ever said he's better then anybody. You may think he's an ass but what you said is factually incorrect.

Lol I've been following and a fan since the Clements Beyond days....life goes on.

He checked out of KF a while back and if you've been watching the content, it's quite obvious..

Pretty much me too actually.

I have been looking at content from Colin and Greg since they started in IGN 10 years ago..

Its a big deal that Colin is leaving

Not true!

I hold zero shame being a straight, white male. That's how I was born. I've treated people with respect and dignity since I was a small child. That's how I was raised. I've done the very best that I can.

That said, it's strange that you'd ignore all of the work I HAVE done for social causes in propagating positive discussion in videos and podcasts with millions of cumulative views and listeners ranging on topics from Ferguson to the Muslim ban. Which, I hate to say it, is far more actionable and positive than a vast majority of folks have done, including you, I assume.

But cover your ears so your feelings don't get hurt. If I don't agree with you, I'm a bad, bad man!

The reply by the person he was talking to:

Strange of you to start assuming stuff about other people just because you find the actions you've done meaningful.

I'm a lawyer. I've done pro bono work. I've helped indigent clients. I've done case work for the Innocence Project. I've helped on immigration cases. Most of the areas I've worked with are largely minority centric or impoverished neighborhoods. A large portion of my resume is centered around these jobs and areas.

Please, try again.

On the positive side, I'm glad that there doesn't seem to be any animosity between Colin and Greg over this. Would've hated to see two guys that've been best friends for a decade part in a ugly way, but leaving in this manner hopefully leaves the door open to regular guest appearances from Colin on KF, as Greg alluded to today.

His chemistry with Greg was the only thing that made me watch KF from time to time. I wanna say the reaction was a bit too much for a simple joke, but I didn't know about the international women day thing so he probably said other shit Idk about.

If you don't like it that's fine don't listen, subscribe, etc. instead we get a bunch of babies that have to let it be known why something someone else said isn't ok. No one cares.

I always see these anti PC people bring up this point. Goes on to talk about a group getting offended and then immediately follows it up with no one cares. Do they even fucking read what they write? If no one cares then then why are people getting upset numbskull?

Not to mention that the reason for other people not caring is because they are privileged enough that they don't have too. It's such a basic concept that many aren't grasping nowadays, or I guess they just refuse to.

Totally agree with this post.

...Who made fantastic fucking music.

And wrote these lyrics.

Immigrants and faggots
They make no sense to me
They come to our country
And think they'll do as they please
Like start some mini-Iran
Or spread some fucking disease
And they talk so many God damn ways
It's all Greek to me

They wrote some good tunes, but my opinion of Axel lives and dies by One in a Million. There's that separating the artist from their art again which I have a hard time justifying to myself at times but I still do it.

His hot takes on politics, philosophy, economics etc mirror that of sheltered teenagers that read Atlas Shrugged for the first time.

I mean the years of having the don't tread on me flag as his profile pic was basically a flashing billboard to let people know he was a complete tool.

End of an era man.
Really sucks that Colin's leaving, been listening to the guy for well over 6-7 years.

I honestly think KF will be poorer with his presence gone, he always added a unique voice to the entire crew and his wealth of industry and especially Playstation knowledge is a big loss. PS I Love you should just be axed too at this point, Greg can't fill Colin's void with Tim or Altano being drafted in.

Truthfully, I'm still hoping he reconsiders but I think it's all gone a bit too toxic atm and it didn't help the kind far right cretin Colin was (I think unwillingly attracting) with all the political talk becoming more prevalent.

It's a genuine shame this all blew up over some very silly tweets and him stupidly doubling down, the baying mob was always going to scream for his head.

Anyway, I'm glad for all the good things he brought to the industry and he will still remain one of my favourite voices in gaming, with none of this changing how I largely feel about him since I first listened to him way back when.

Good luck to ya Col!

Good riddance..i never liked him anyway also when he was at IGN such an entitled prick, Didn't anyone forget that wonderful video where he was walking down the street acting all tough because we as consumers are entitled? You can't forget that gem.

I had an conversation with him on twitter years ago and he blocked me of something i do not remember but i had a strong argument against him and he couldn't take it. Breitbart would be a excellent fit for him.

I'm so glad I don't have to worry about shit like this with the GiantBomb guys. They're all just good people who aren't assholes. The closest thing to this happening is when someone moves on to do awesome new things like Patrick, Austin, and Drew did.

I have amazing friends on both sides of the political spectrum.

Putting folks in a box, and labeling it "tool" is so close-minded.

Don't do that to yourself dude. Put people first, politics last.

Far right does what you just did all the time with the Arab/Islamic community, don't stoop low.

Don't dismiss, choose to discuss, understand, and at worst agree to disagree.

The KF forum topic on this is nutty as hell...I tried to bring some sensibility to it but of course it's filled with "SJWs" being blamed...shit being flung at Tim and Greg..."muh liberties"....Colin was forced out...blah blah blah.

One guy seriously just stated himself and others are soldiers that just lost a war....

Jesus. Christ.

When you suggest thinking Don't Tread on Me avatars are stupid is on the same level as far right people and their hatred of Muslims, you're not really coming across as the "I'm the balanced middle roader" master of discourse you think you are.

Things like this are easy to say when your friends' "politics" don't involve thinking less of you because of your race or financial standing

Not surprised that KF attracts people like this when you have Colin openly advertising Republican politics and giving these right-leaning ideologies a platform.

Agreed....just thought they might be more level headed but it's filled up mainly with Breitbart idiots.....

yeah because that symbol totally HASN'T been co-opted by the tea party

Fine, reply with a better example. I'll wait....

My point is a balanced approach not a dismissive one.

Again please reply with a better example.... otherwise your comment was meant to derail vs assist.

You want a better example of your own bizaare train of thought? You really think "Oh man, he generalized people with Tread on Me avatars, that's analagous to hating muslims" is the go to thought of a balanced approach? What assistance do you think you're giving that poster when you suggest that?

Colin and his politics never really bothered me. Even as it increasingly crept into everything going on at Kinda Funny. I don't necessarily agree with all of his sentiments, but that didn't make him unlikable to me. It's obvious to me why he rubs people the wrong way, but he strikes me as someone who challenges majority of the norms people believe in. In hindsight I didn't really notice the direction he was heading and Kinda Funny too. The Colin was right segments I'm sure were making him question a lot of things in his surroundings.

Again....give a better equivocal example.

If it more clearly achieves the balanced approach I was seeking to make as my point, I will wholeheartedly agree and edit my post with your response.

Relax, I'm not trying to argue with you dude lol, fair and balanced approach remember?
