Is that the one that's just a generic looking trail with some trees and no noticeable landmarks? I believe it's
on the west side of Hyrule River, not far from a stable.

Found it, thanks. Weird the painter guy doesn't show up at the stable right nearby.

Edit: No wonder, there was another stable even closer I hadn't discovered lol

You're saying someone who's never played Zelda before should start the game without being able to see the temperature and learn about the weather mechanics? Recipe for frustration IMO.
It's a better game without the HUD. Straight up. From the very start, and for any player.

LOL Snowpeak is one of the worst designed dungeons. The yetis are removed from the world. The dungeon is reached by a snowboarding minigame. The dungeon item is a ball to break ice which doesn't allow for clever puzzles.
But these are great things!

People in this thread trying to act like the Wind Temple from WW isn't the best dungeon in that game. SMH.

For me it's the least exciting dungeon in the game, when your final send off to dungeon gameplay in a game struggling to impress on that front is more iron boots, more deku leaf, a massively worse command melody character than even the statues and the midboss is Wizzrobe with new hat who blesses you with the hookshot which offers nothing other items in the game already covered in ways I struggle to see it as particularly strong outside of the being the best of a lacklustre bunch in terms of having more open design.
I just can't go to bat for the Wind Temple.

But hey opinions I guess, I just defended Snowpeak which in itself could be poo poo'd as sectioning off progression into three linear segments with the sneaky illusion of backtracking for instance.

I mean, I wasn't defending the world design or how you got there. The structure and pacing was something different and made it memorable.

Am l missing something or is Gerudo Highlands complete shit? l thought Hebra was the most disappointing region but at least it has shield surfing and a couple of minigames. Highlands has that dumb eighth heroine sidequest and that's it. Massive letdown.

Five of the six shrines in that area involve some puzzle or activity to get into, so that's nice at least.

I can't believe there is a second forced stealth mission. And when you fail you start from the beginning again. This shit needs to die. Why does this mission design exist in 2017?

Finally beat it. Top 5 all time for me, even though it puttered to a finish.

The reward for beating the game spoilers:
Man, beating the last boss and being returned to the title screen to realize you get absolutely nothing but a small star on your save file is the worst feeling. It feels like they didn't bother to finish their game.

I have only had one shrine make me leave without solving it.

It was the shrine where you had to use stasis and hit the ball onto a long platform and hopefully make it roll into the end. They provide a big hammer in the shrine but every time I used it the direction was always a little to the right. Not a huge deal but when you give us an item that breaks after so many tries....a little annoying.

Anyone have advice for that one?

YouTube it.

yeah this game is a pain in the rear for me. can say im not a fan of the breakable weapons

Weapons break super fast at the start, but they get more durable as you get further on in the game.

There are also ways to kill enemies without using as many hits. Try experimenting with the combat encounters.

From someone who thinks the game is pretty good so far, pro UI is superior and more fun.

I do feel like i'm bombarded with side quests now though - even if it's less than a Ubi game.

I wish i had the same excitement for the game like some of you have. I will say the game is hard to put down.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I have only 5 hearts and just made it to
haterno village via main quest
my qualm about the game is that there's so much world but nothing interesting has happened outside of me taking down a bunch of bobokins at a camp, getting a horse, and solving a few shrines that seem to be placed in front of me

What? Your reward for beating the game is...beating the game. What are you expecting?

The first area you only have to hit it a couple of times wth the hammer. The second area with the chest is trickier. Grab the ball and drop it a few feet back and slightly to the left before maxing out the hits during stasis. Use ZL lock to hit it straight.

Hmm didn't even think to do that lol. Thanks

Lost pilgrimage quest
worst thing ever.

This
little butthole yells out "help me hero!!" When I'm 90% done so I run up to help him. Nope he was just pretending
.

Starting attempt 5.

Don't worry, with time you are going to be given more durable weapons and slots to have even more of them to the point that the problem will be that you don't have enough space to store them lol

I don't want to screw my game, so what do I need to do with the flying
dragons
around Hyrule?
Kill them?

Spoiler is below, but you should really just go climb Mt. Lanayru. By the end of the climb you will realize what they are for.

You can shoot certain body parts off the dragon and use them to cook, solve quests, and upgrade equipment

To see the change I made in the world.

A gameplay reward of any kind would also be awesome, both would be great. Either or would be fine. Neither feels really lame. Totally respect that it's enough for some folks though.

Im not reading the spoiler but thanks, now I have a hint haha thanks!!!

Forced stealth in non-stealth games is awful. The real problem is that it feels like guess-and-check gameplay. Like, "Yeah, you're going to fuck up on these X things the first time and you'll just have to start over."

Yeah, that has always been the case with every Zelda game. I want to see what happens afterwards dammit! I hoped this would change with BotW.

Fairly certain that one of the DLC's will be all about picking up where the post-credits scene left off, I too was fairly certain that the game was going to be playable after that final scene, but it seems like they are saving that for later.

Does anyone else use the gyro aiming controls? Maybe I'm missing something but it seems to fuck me up aiming more than not
The trick is to not touch the right stick while using motion controls, it will take priority and stop your motion aiming for a second.

No, I'm with you. Fuck traditions!

Yeah I got you, I also agree with your edit: the nature of BotW made me feel like they might break that convention like so many others. I feel it makes even more sense in a game where you could potentially sneak into the endgame area early, wind up taking a shot at the boss, and finishing the game with like 7% of the content done. It makes even more sense in this context for you to be able to carry on your journey with an acknowledgement from the world of your achievement.

I also agree with dude who said it feels like they could add it as DLC in some form.

Gameplay variety, how dare this game have it! :P

I am glad to hear this, I need something more than the usual random walking and climbing. Now starting over sucks, so that's fine to complain about but we need more gameplay scenarios like this. I would love a horse chase or something too.

You can climb over the base and enter at the other side and skip it all together.

The first one was easy tho althought that one should have a checkpoint halfway, second one is very short actually and can be skipped.

Concerning the stealth section in the desert that a lot of people have been complaining about. It's pretty impossible to fail if you use bananas. Which is what they were trying to teach you to use.

It takes a special form of entitlement to suggest that a game should never present a situation to you that you can't learn how to do before dying once. Not because game's shouldn't do this. But because its clearly possible to learn how to get through the section without getting caught on your first try. Instead, the implication is that your skill level is too high to be punished repeatedly.

First of all, starting from the beginning isnt even much of a punishment. Sure it sucks if it gets you angry, but people who get angry typically think too highly of their own knowledge and skill. They take in situations they've learned from other games, and refuse to learn new systems even when that the game was literally throwing in your face. There are like 50 bananas on planks that could be shot down with an arrow, indicated by the X marked paper, and the prisoner girl just about says that you should use bananas.

I'm actively avoiding any discussion of this game I come across. I was skeptical after Skyward Sword put me off so hard, and then the reviews were so ridiculous that I thought for sure the game couldn't possibly live up to them.

Fast forward 40-ish hours of playtime, and this game is like I'm playing Skyrim again (hear me out), but better. What I liked about Skyrim as opposed to, say, Far Cry 3, is Skyrim basically says "here's the world. Have at it." Far Cry 3 says "here's the world, but shouldn't you upgrade your wallet and your quiver and your pack and hey there's cool stuff over here and here and here and PAY ATTENTION TO ME!!!"

Anyway, I'm enjoying the exploring here even more than I did in Skyrim, and everything around that is even better. Better combat, more interacting systems, and a bunch of structured puzzles. It's pretty great.
