I hate Trump but the rallies are a good idea. Not sure if people would have paid much attention if Obama held many, but here people who don't like Trump tune in and end up thinking "he's not as bad as they say" or "sounds good". Makes sense for him to do it considering the position he's in, and I'd say if Obama did so he would have probably managed to get the Dems a bigger turnout in midterms.
