Mass Effect: Andromeda - EA/Origin Access trial coming March 16th - 10 hour trial

Just finished the opening mission. The game seems okay, and I can definitely see why some previews were negative (and I say this as someone who loved the OT). Coming off Zelda, the game feels very unpolished and janky.

Is there an actual part where the single player cuts u off, or can u just play till 10 hours are up? I thought it was a cut off, but im past the point where I thought there would be a cut off.

I just got to
the nexus and they are seeing it wasnt finished being built

Just an hour in but, man, this is by far the worst start to a ME game ever. I really felt like all 3 previous games totally nailed their openings but this is just a wet fart.

I do like some of the reactivity that they added with lots and lots of incidental dialogue based on contextual actions. It's a shame that the dialogues themselves are just so boring.

Can't believe the animations is still this bad. :(

It is darn new Two Worlds bad.

Hey Gaf. This has probably been asked ad nauseum so apologies. I do have Access. If I play the 10 hour trial and then play a disk version of the title will my progress be saved? I assume it would but I would like some confirmation. Thanks.

Playing with a custom femryder the facial expressions aren't really that bad.

There's some doozies but that's always the case.

I think the default femryder is just garbage.

Like that youtube vid there was no smile during the scene. Her eyes did bulge a bit tho.

Ohhh GAF, now this looks worse than inquisition you say? Give me a fucking brake, this game aside from the standard bioware bad animations it looks great, environments looks detailed and the game actually is well optimized for pc, at least for me it is, looking forward to the full game!

Or when, in that segment, Ryder says
If things were revered, and they landed on our planet holding weapons, we'd shoot them immediately. PRETTY SURE that wouldn't be how that goes. If a space ship with only 4 aliens lands on earth and they come out holding weapons, you wouldn't just fire away immediately for fucks sake.

The amount of faith you have in humanity is adorable.

Anyways on topic I've enjoyed my couple hours so far. The animations are noticeable, but ultimately not detracting meaningfully from my experience. The dialog isn't great, but it gets the job done.

I just enjoy the Mass Effect formula, I guess.

Got a couple hours in tonight, enough to go through the first intro mission while dilly-dallying.

  • Game looks great on PC
  • I was very happy with my custom Scott Ryder, as he looks like a normal human being and daddy and sister Ryder automatically turned out great too. I'll share it when I can figure out how to take a screenshot in Origin. PrntScrn doesn't work. Like many Bioware games, most of the hair looks like trash and colors just look so bizarre.
  • I recommend turning captions on so your eyes will be drawn towards the bottom of the screen during conversations, as lip-synch can be wonky.
  • Characters are already saying some of the most stupid shit. Here's to later ones being better.
  • Combat is working well, and I had to make sure to utilize cover to not die even on Normal difficulty. Power combos are devastating and so I feel they will play a large part of good strategy. My beef so far is with the natural cover system being kind of hit and miss - I may invest in a shield power just so I don't have to always look for the correctly shaped rock to dryhump.

Hmmm this is weird I can't actually get the game to launch. I click the game and it just goes to a window that shows a black screen. Task Managers shows the process but it is using 0% CPU..

It cuts off around halfway through the first planet mission you do after the prologue.

There is certainly a "Too much dialogue" sort of thing going on here. I feel like they heard complaints about Inquisitions sometimes slow to trigger conversations (to the point many people thought it was a bug) but they've really overcompensated here.

I think a lot of people are remembering Inquisition more fondly than they realize. Coming straight off a 93 hour playthrough, that game was jank personified.

if you pay for EA ACCESS, can you play 10 hours on xbox and 10 hours on PC lol or is it combined? or are they completely different services? I just used a 1 month trial on xbox and have never used it b4

The problem with the eyes is that they made the iris to big, so most of the time it looks scary lol

And they don't seem to know how human eyes work in a conversation, lol. It's like they felt the need to make them move for the sake of making them move. The way they just dart from side to side randomly during a cutscene is truly odd.

This might sound weird, but this feels like the Fallout 4 of Mass Effect. It should, on paper, be hitting every box. But something just doesn't feel right here.
(edit: apparently I'm not the first to make that analogy)

EA Access is only for X1. You need Origin access for PC.

gotcha. man i wish they just let you use the same character/profile for MP on all consoles. i'd double dip if it was a common pool, but much like grand theft auto, i have no reason to get it on PC and double dip since most of my friends play on xbox, i'll play the worse version so i can coop with better friends.

Well, keep the impressions coming guys. I'm bummed about the animations and faces (seriously they needed to get some Inquisition peeps to help them out at least) but some of the stuff I'm reading sounds ok.
