Okay.Round and round we go.
People have been more than cordial and diplomatic in talking to him, yet he interprets even the mildest of feedback as an attack on his person.
That you're a philosophy teacher who unironically uses the word 'SJW' is also troubling and I say that as someone with a master's degree in the field.
Someone needs to take this meme and make it "Punished Colin: A hero denied his free of speech"
![]()
Or even better, don't do it and don't give the guy more sweet meme platform than he earned. Call him out on social media instead, he seems to LOVE being challenged![]()
Colin's recent follows keep him winning: Lauren Southern, Tucker Carlson, Ian Miles Cheong, Rita Panahi
Lauren Southern wrote Barbarians: How Baby Boomers, Immigrants, and Islam Screwed My Generation
Southern's protest sign "There Is No Rape Culture In The West"
The incident resulted from statements Southern made about there being "only two genders".
Southern initiated "The Triggering", whereby every March 9, the day after International Women's Day, Twitter users post taboo content in defense of free speech. Southern has expressed sympathy for the alt-right.[16]
In October 2016, Southern had her gender legally changed to male as part of a video produced for Rebel Media to show the ease of the new gender ID laws.[17]
Panahi has conservative political views. She has argued for a burqa ban and for the necessity of offshore detention camps for refugees.[1] In January 2015, Panahi sparred with Andrew O'Keefe on Weekend Sunrise over Islamic extremists.[2][3] Her article prompted a response on news website New Matilda.[4] In a debate over racism in early 2016, Panahi was on a team opposing ABC presenter Stan Grant. Panahi argued that Australia should not be characterised as racist.[

For Colin, freedom of speech means to say bigoted shit with impunity and without any criticism aka silencing and oppressing minorities aka no freedom of speech for minorities
As Phill Kollar tweeted:
So to reiterate: stop trying to defend this guy.
Okay.
I don't feel at all ashamed of admitting that there do exist people who make dumb arguments on little to no basis on the left side of the aisle, nor that some of those are young and college educated, nor that some of those take to twitter to do so. That's the "SJW" phenomenon as I see it. Perhaps the label is unfortunate, but the critique is getting at something.
I don't think bad argumentation has a political bias.
If that's a problem...well I'll just repeat that philosophy begins with introspection.
I can't believe we live in a world where we judge people by who they follow on Twitter.
Who would have ever thought...
What are you talking about? If I'd visit you and see tons of right wing propaganda booklets lying around you could be dang sure I'd judge you. Same with books, same with political music, same with Facebook likes.I can't believe we live in a world where we judge people by who they follow on Twitter.

I did it in quotations. I did it because I was engaging with Colin's critique of the reaction to him. What? The label is unfortunate? Then why did you bring it up and continually use it to describe others. No one made you do that
I did it in quotations. I did it because I was engaging with Colin's critique of the reaction to him.
I started from within his perspective. What was he identifying? How was he pushing it beyond its relevance?
Did anyone read my post?!
I present it as, yes, bad arguments are made by "SJW"s. But to use that as a smokescreen is intellectually dishonest, especially when you are saying and doing the things, of which you are being accused with great regularity.
Because some liberals make bad arguments on twitter doesn't mean you can't be held accountable for anything. And if you care about good dialogue, you should hold yourself accountable to start.
And continually? I use it twice in that post.
Once in quotes. Once in the phrase "retreating and crying SJW"
And if you care about good dialogue, you should hold yourself accountable to start.
I'm judging nobody. I simply didn't see this being a thing when social media started to take off in the world. What are you talking about? You're judging people right now for posts on a message board.
Who's defending anyone? I'm not. I'm talking about Twitter.it's just so peculiar that a pundit who shits on minority groups suddenly quits his job in order to be even more free to shit on minority group and then starts following people associated with the alt-right, anti-feminism, gamergate, and the like. It's almost like there's pattern. Surely him thinking that Jeff "Too Racist for the 1980s" Sessions is a good choice for AG might even help us understand this sudden twitter relationship to transphobes, misogynists, racist, etc..
No reason to cape for him, he's proven what his views are. Unless you want to defend someone who thinks freedom of speech only applies to him when he's saying bigoted shit and bullying minorities.

That's just a slightly too honest wording for exactly what all of these morons mean when they grouse about "free speech."
Which is why liberals need to stop giving them cover for it. It's not about free speech, it's about the ability to spew bullshit unchecked by the dissenting free speech of others.
Did you read my post?! I was criticizing Colin.People have been like this towards Moriarty, yet he retreats back into his shell and acts all victimized. It's the classic pattern of an abuser/bully: Lash out and abuse the victim and then turn around act like the victim and demand the empathy of the victim. He says some stupid shit that hurts people and radicalizes others, he gets called out on it diplomatically, and then he turns around and act like a victim that feels stigmatized and hurt.
And by continually telling the abused that they have to engage with him in "good dialogue" is asking the abused to continually empathize with the bully/abuser. The argument that you are putting forward is one that others have already mentioned throughout this thread and elsewhere and it's tiring to keep listening to.
Instead of telling the abused that they need to be nicer to the abuser (which they already are and have been), why don't you use your time and energy to go tell Colin and his supporters to do the same?
"the right to fail" is a very interesting way to say that poor, unaccomplished people chose to be that way cause...freedom or something.
"You see, the poor are poor because they wanted to be poor, and had the freedom to make the choices that led them to their poverty. Freedom, after all, is what makes us American. It's not like the existing economic, social, and political systems actually benefit some at the expense of others. That's just a leftist fantasy or something."
"...without having to worry about being called a bigot or being called a sexist..."
Also, when did freedom of speech become freedom of speech without consequences? It's almost as if conservatives were the snowflakes all along.
Okay.

I don't think that. It's not that your wrong, because this is completely true. But I can't get over the fact that the SJW is now equal or worse to people who are literally racist because they can be annoying about giving a shit.

Ancient, so, yeah, close enough.I'm sorry, your post came across kind of obtuse with your starting line of talking about progressives and leftists. Maybe you're in continental philosophy with the way you write :lol my apologies.
I'm judging nobody. I simply didn't see this being a thing when social media started to take off in the world.
Who's defending anyone? I'm not. I'm talking about Twitter.
Lol Colin always does this, the moment anyone criticizes him he makes a comment about their relevance, whether it be twitter followers or people caring about them in some way. He sure makes a lot of childish, ad hominem attacks for someone that believes they're such a deep intellectual. He thinks everyone that disagrees with him is worthless and gets worked up when someone says something negative about him. He definitely has some narcissistic tendencies, especially when you add in the fact that he thinks he's the important person sticking up for those without a voice. You're so important Colin! To boot he literally can't even be consistent in his outrage in a twitter conversation:
Mackey: I wish Colin wasn't relevant
Colin: debate me
Mackey ignores him
Colin: Grow some balls
Gamespot writer: You sound like Uwe Boll
Colin: No one cares about you...
Colin: No one asked you to speak to me...
He's the definition of a coward and a literal child.
Yep. Reminds me of when he came into GAF and just assumed everyone must be idiot man children when he was fighting against Trump from within the conservative movement with an oh so important show. (Find that a bit funny with his recent Trump comments).Lol Colin always does this, the moment anyone criticizes him he makes a comment about their relevance, whether it be twitter followers or people caring about them in some way. He actually reminds a bit of Trump. They both can't take criticism and talk down to anyone who disagrees with them. They feed off the energy of the people that are willing to say kind things to them because it proves to them that they are amazing people. Plus, Colin often talked about how right he was on PSILY. He couldn't help but point it out. He was always talking about if not for him some games wouldn't have done as well as they did. He pats himself on the back every time he believed knew something before someone else. I don't know if this is an inherent personality flaw which him or the result of an inflated ego that's been fed into by his fans, but he needs to take a hard look at himself.Yep. Shut up as soon as an interlocutor pointed out he was a lawyer who did pro bono work.
Definitely one of his more obnoxious characteristic.
Has Moriarty ever actually debated anyone on camera? He talks a lot about how he had to refine his debating skills because his views are constantly challenged in the overwhelmingly liberal game industry. But on Kinda Funny shows, he just says extremely superficial things about economics and politics without anyone disputing his assertions. Something tells he wouldn't last a minute against people who actually know what the fuck they're talking about. Whenever anyone pushes back even a little, he just says something along the lines of "I studied American history and have paid attention to politics for decades, therefore you're wrong."
Also, as a bonus, a Colin M tweet presented without comment:

In one of the earlier GoG show episodes, Aisha Taylor schooled him without much effort, if memory serves right.Has Moriarty ever actually debated anyone on camera? The things I would do for a sharp witted liberal 1v1 against Colin. I need this.In one of the earlier GoG show episodes, Aisha Taylor schooled him without much effort, if memory serves right.

I see it was a good thing to add that "If memory serves right". It is very telling, though, that that particular episode is still kinda "reveered" within the fanbase as one of the only times someone somewhat challenged him.Yeah I watched that episode since people were mentioning it.....Aisha clearly pushed back a little but wasn't exactly challenging his views. Just kind of being "WHAAAAAT?!?!?" Maybe she wasn't comfortable enough to be too aggressive since she was on their show. I was hoping she would destroy his celebratory view of American history. A white man cheer leading the Revolution of 1776 in front of a black woman....I was like "GO FOR THE GUT AISHA GET HIM GIRL" but she just went along with it. There are so many things she could've talked about with regards to the African experience on this continent.

As Phill Kollar tweeted:
So to reiterate: stop trying to defend this guy.
"there are so many people that play video games, so many people that enjoy entertainment that don't have anyone speaking for them".
Man, fuck this guy. This might be the bit that's made me most irate in this saga.
I mean this WHOLE THING started because he couldn't hold back with his hot take on International Women's Day; a day when the industry is trying to make things more hospitable for women.
Cause lord knows most of the games media, the games development industry, and the games community ain't always the best to women. At best they're subject to the same kind of marginalization, pay inequality and discrimination in any other industry, at worst they're getting death and rape threats, being doxxed, having their sexual history plastered over the internet, having the places they try to speak up subject to bomb threats. Usually because they dared make a video about Mario or some fucking troglodyte thinks there's a grand conspiracy involving non-existent reviews and sexual favours.
And so a day comes along when its time to try, as a society and as an industry, to make things less fucked up for women in a field that honestly I'm surprised any of them still have the patience or tolerance for but nonononono Colin's gotta get in there with his sick burn to validate the unvoiced, much neglected voice of the straight white male who just wants to say hahahaha aren't chicks kind of noisy and/or annoying.
Fuck. That.
No Colin, pieces of shit like you already have a voice in the industry. It is deafening. That is the problem. You couldn't even go one day without being the centre of attention.

Moriarty supports the struggle of Black Americans, he just ridicules Colin Kaepernick for protesting
Moriarty supports women, he just makes sexist jokes on Women's Day
Moriarty supports diversity, he just only invite white men on his show
Moriarty cares about transpeople, he just complains about people protesting against professional harasser and transphobe
Moriarty cares about poor people, he just doesn't support policies that benefit the poor
Moriarty cares about removing safe spaces, he just blocks anyone who legitimately criticize him
Moriarty cares about native Americans, he just complains about them for 10 minutes straight when they write something about cultural appropriation
Moriarty cares about polite discourse, he just calls oppressed people humorless sacks of shit when they voice their displeasure with his humor
For all the things that Colin Moriarty claims he is, and all the defenders, moderates and supporters who claim similarly, I've yet to see something that supports this narrative of being in support of oppressed people. His actions speak louder than whatever things he claim to support.
