Slaythe. Please. Tell me how you did that????

Vetra's introduction was so great, instantly fell in love with the character. Currently on EOS and enjoying myself. Definitely don't see the comparisons to DAI, Inquisition's failing was not providing you with enough context to the world but in MEA you find a story wherever you seem to go.

This sounds like it could have been a quote from the game...

People being human doesn't negate very obvious issues. Humans made Horizon and Witcher 3 and those don't suffer from nearly the amount of issues shown thus far in ME:A. Maybe instead of simply ignoring issues and supporting a subpar product people could vote with their wallet, but we all know this game despite the issues will still sell millions.

Perhaps that's because despite the issues people have run into, it's a lot of fucking fun to play? I didn't realize "game is fun as hell" was such a controversial opinion.

To be honest, I'm not sure what to do. I'm thinking of waiting on reviews and see how it pans out. I'm going to play it, eventually but I don't think I have the time right now and The Ringed City is out around that time too.

Just wait until you have time to play it. If you wait long enough, there may be a price drop. I am going to play the 10 hours with EA Access and if it doesn't grab me, I'll wait or never buy it.

The thing I'm holding onto to keep my soul from shattering is that I haven't seen a person who has played 10+ hours that didn't seem to like it. Maybe I missed one, though.

Just played many hours, and I'm not feeling it. I never thought I would consider canceling a Mass Effect pre-order. I loved the previous games.

I haven't even played the game i'm waiting for release. Tbh it's looks like mass effect and should've been sequel to mass effect 1.

These mixed early impressions are breaking my heart. I may hold off on this one, the pain is dulled by the fact there are so many other games to play this spring.

I will vote for my Wallet which is buying this day one since I've had fantastic experiences from all the Mass Effect games and nothing I've seen about this has shown me that I won't enjoy it. There's alot of positivity for the game as well, Some of the negativity I am sure it's justified but not all of it.

I'm not saying people can't enjoy a product if they have one or even many issues with a game. Just that when it comes to a AAA 2017 extension of a huge franchise people should just simply expect a hell of a lot more. If you enjoy the gameplay (I think I will) then maybe that's enough for some to purchase the game and feel justified. I just feel from what I've seen the gameplay on its own wouldn't be near enough to make up for the horrible dialogue and animations. But again I haven't personally played it and maybe the game picks up quite a bit and if that's the case ill be happy for it cause I do have it pre-ordered digitally so I'm kinda in for the ride regardless.

Those strike team missions remind me a whole lot of DAI. There you would send people to do things as well and you never really went there yourself. Not a fan of this stuff at all. Let me just go there. Sure hope these aren't the side missions for the trial.

Yeah this is disappointing, but understandable to an extent. The Codex is many times larger than it was previously. It's an inordinate amount of text to have VA for. If I recall correctly not everything in ME codex was voiced either. At least the very least in ME2/3 many of the newer, less important, additions to the codex were not voiced.

I'd be totally fine with the 20~% that was voiced last time, even if they had to get a different actor/voice actor.

It was just one of the 'cozy' things about the original trilogy I remembered, and I was specifically planning to sit and listen to them all again (even repeats from the OT) after I got my ship, just like I did in ME1.

I love RPGs so I don't mind reading at all, it's just a bit of a bummer.

These mixed early impressions are breaking my heart. I may hold off on this one, the pain is dulled by the fact there are so many other games to play this spring.

I've been reading a lot of previews now of people who are past the first few (3-4 hours) and it seems to pick up more? Apparently it has quite a few mysterious elements like Mass Effect 1. I'd wait to see some more fuller impressions, plus full reviews come out Monday. I'm pretty sure this will be the lowest scoring Mass Effect by far though.

People on this forum expected this game to be 100% perfect i don't. you people don't understand they're people creating this game not some Ai. of course they're going to be mistakes in this game we're human For god sake.
This people is going to wait until other people play the release version to get impressions from humans not Ai. Too many Ai have tired faces.

It's from this hideous preset.

By tweaking his facial features you can shape his face to be pretty decent.

Now here's the trick. The engine only tolerates a total of 3 colors for the skin tone, hair and eyes color. You have to experiment until they blend properly with the lightning.

Anything too dark / too light is gonna look like vomit. The ideal picks are not perfect either but they're tolerable.

Whoa! Thanks for this! By any chance do you also have a code for the skin? Like those slider numbers. If not then no worries! It's just that I usually mess these kind of things up in the dumbest of ways.

Instead reading early impressions why don't you play yourself??

Because time is precious and I'm not going to stop playing the pile of great games that came out recently to start this one. If early impressions were overwhelmingly positive you bet your ass I'd drop everything and jump right in.

Yeah, I hope that's the case. I'll await the reviews on Monday.

My friend forgot to pic a background during the character creation process. What does that mean for the game? Does it default to something or is it random? Worth restarting?

I plan to support this product with my wallet. Unlike Horizon and Witcher, this has a multiplayer component which is something I am highly interested in. I have played my full 10 hours and this product is not Subpar. It will sell Millions because Millions of people disagree with your evaluation of this product as Subpar.

I'm not saying this excuses quality issues but I think something people need to remember going into this is that it is made by the multiplayer Team from Mass Effect 3. It really shows in how good the Combat gameplay and animations are and yet how janky they are in conversations.

These guys don't have any experience doing conversations or facial animation while they have a lot doing combat. Again this doesn't excuse and it doesn't invalidate people's issues but I was not surprised going into it because I saw this happening

It is basically just where you first skill point is placed. I haven't seen or heard any references to it in-game like the Origin for Shepard. Basically all of the skills are good, so unless you had a very specific roleplay character in your head to play it isn't a big deal, since you can respec.

I think it's fair to expect more, and I'm not going to say my experience has been perfect, but it's just been frustrating to see everything so hyperbolic around here. Like, I went through the first mission in the game, I dicked around in the Nexus some, and I played some multiplayer.

My negative takeaway was that narratively it felt a little too much like the devs went "okay, so let's make Mass Effect 1 again". My positive takeaway is that the game generally speaking, just worked. The jetpack and the evades worked a lot better than I was expecting in adding verticality to the environments, the scanner felt closer to Metroid Prime scanning than your usual "add a codec entry, read it later" lore building, and frankly, a couple bad lines of dialog aside, the game all feels very cohesive and very mass effect, in terms of how the dialog choices shake out and how your character interacts with the others.

I'm not going to sit here and fellate the game all day, but it's not this absolute garbage pile that people keep trying to make it out to be. It's not Horizon, and it's not Zelda...it's Mass Effect, and if you go into it expecting Mass Effect, that's what you're going to get, with all the good and the bad that comes with it.

Same preset I used to make my guy (I just wish I could change his eye colour and hair colour to slightly lighter after seeing him in-game).

To be fair a lot of people aren't going to keep playing for 10+ hours if they hated it after hour 2.

Does the dad change based on the character? Because I was very distracted for a while looking at the dad and thinking, "I don't think this guy can be Sarah's dad." :P

I mean it could be possible that the mother is mixed, or of a different race/ethnic group? It is not uncommon for multiracial children to have completely different skin tones.

Also isn't there going to be a day one patch? I heard read that Bioware was trying to get out one during the trial. I hope it fixes some of the problems.

Animations - Hilariously bad.

Combat - 2 mags later... Oh and don't get me started on the melee... Fucking whew lad.

Gameplay - Feels terrible, auto cover don't change sight line, don't accurately reflect weapon view, no feedback and over-all janky/floaty/loose feeling.

Story - Eh, sure, negatively impacted by face and various other sync issues in its story telling.

Multiplayer - !?!?!??!!!!! /facepalm Maps are too small for the amount of enemies thrown at you, WTF are these spawns even...

Options Menu - Some options are broken, like toggle/hold sprint and no aim sensitivity outside general look sensitivity?

Performance - Fine but CPU seems to get hammered really hard. RIP i7.

I was really hyped for this game last night out of nowhere, but
I want my $5 back now...

Enjoyed this article as he made some pretty good points. Having this trial out before reviews is a bad idea. According to the author, people are going to play a section of the game that may not be the best representation of the game and are going to say negative things about the game. If I gave impressions about the beginning hours of ME1 it would not have been positive despite my love for the game overall. Reviews should have hit before the trial.

That's a fair response and approach. I really do try and resist being hyperbolic when expressing myself. Heck I put up with similar issues in FO4 because I expect those things from that series so its more forgiving. I was just hoping for a bigger evolution of ME cause I feel way more invested and attached to this series so issues seem more glaring to me. I would love to be proven wrong when I get my hands on it in a few days.
