"The last shows we did were the real Colin"
Great so staring aimlessly around and paying more attention to Lola than the conversation is the real Colin.

I'd rather summize it as: all the writer was saying was "hey, there is this new popular game out I can leverage to make my cause known to a ton of people!".

And it worked quite well, the argument itself was bullshit, but it was enough to be picked up by every media outlet and its grandma. So, many gamers have now freshly heard of the existence of that organization, which was absolutely positively 100% of the point.

what organization is that now?

15 minutes in all he's said so far is I'm not sorry and he told all the people he's been gloating about privately telling him 'way to go' to take a hike for not standing up for him publicly.

My mistake, not an organization, just a general call for attention to the problems of a minority. Which is fair, as like I said it worked. I just didn't pay too much attention myself because a) I am not directly involved and b) I, too, think Guerilla has done rather exceptionally well in representing different aspects of different cultures.

Said Rubin his newest friend and treated him better than some of his oldest. Ouch.

Q & A is about to start.

I dont care if your black hispanic woman gay bisexual transgender or straight up caucasian, everybody needs and deserves the piss to be taken out of them sometimes,we live in a culture now where everyone is offended now and I just see that piolce force circling on mass when a silly tweet is posted

No no I get where you're coming from! I wasn't offended by the joke. I just didn't think it was very funny, and I wanted to know why people found it funny. Another poster already answered me.

It's important to note that he's consistently made it clear time and time again that he has no ill-will against any of the Kinda Funny guys, and that he wishes them all the success in the world. The ridiculous trolls that keep downvoting every Kinda Funny video are total buffoons.

That article was so mild, and was targeting game journalists--not Guerrilla--but hey let's crap on a single voice of mild dissent in an ocean of applause.

there's no doubt that they did well in the aspect, but there's no reason they can't strive to do even better with the criticism of that article in mind.

Pretty good so far, although I have no idea what he was rambling about with the "their media is dying" bit.

I'm not shocked he is basically calling out everyone who had privately supported him and publicly stayed silent, I would be pissed too and wouldn't want to ever talk to you again if I was being eaten alive and you thought it was wrong but never felt it was worth it to 'defend' me.

I hope this isn't a shot at Greg, Tim and Nick. Colin leaving the company was what was best for everybody but I hope that he doesn't destroy his real life relationships with those people.

Because she is a woman so that means it's fine.

#NotYourShield

But I have a mother, two sisters, an aunt! How can I be a misogynist.

That might be tough. I think that at least for Greg, KF is his life, his business, his baby.

We actually live in a culture where some of the aforementioned people generally/likely get the piss out of them pretty frequently and seeing self righteous people that don't face those things pile onto that is nothing but disgusting.

Like what's so hard about treat each other better. Everyone.

I have no idea what the financial situation of Polygon or whatever is but it's true that youtube personalities ect. have taken a huuuuge slice of traditional gaming sites.

That said I didn't pay much attention if that's what he was talking about.

Maybe they knew he was being an ass and that he was wrong?

But of course he takes it as a personal attack. So glad he is done with gaming media.

Some major parallels with the Milo situation and this. There was a specific moment and movement to "shut someone down", and it only completely backfired and launched them up in the public conciseness. (Not a parallel in politics between Milo and Colin, just in the public situation)

Now obviously Milo defended pedophilia and imploded, but say he didn't, he would have a best selling book and would have stayed in that public limelight.

Personally, I am inspired by the fact that he is overcoming the crisis of some people disagreeing with a thing he said publicly. His courage in facing down the tyrannical individuals writing posts on the internet detailing their issues with his comments/behavior and doing absolutely nothing to threaten his freedom or safety is astounding. Few would have the backbone to double down on a comment made on social media like he has. Live free, Colin. You can't tread on him!

I'd like to think a real friend would call you out on your bullshit instead of feeding into it. Gotta retreat to an echo chamber and create that safe space, I guess?

They're all being professional about it. It's clear as day that the bridge is burned, and blown away dust at this point.

I wonder though if that's actually true, vs Youtube personalities and Twitch streamers are courting different people / are gaining in parallel. Personally my Youtube viewing takes away from my TV watching, not my news reading.

the conservative/right-winged media machine is fueled by 'liberal' outrage. If you piss off black people, women's rights, transpeople, poor people, etc. as much as possible, they'll make you a media darling.

See dumb racist Tomi Lahren as the most recent example. Milo was the same. Conservatives love to throw money at whoever wants to shit on the oppressed as much as possible.

It feels like that would be the case, but they ARE saying otherwise. I feel like Greg, Tim, and Nick have all been handling the situation super well from my perspective, and I guess we'll have to wait until that last GoG show to see Colin's perspective.

I think it's the exact same thing as the decline of newspapers as a news source . It's much easier to have some gaming channel on youtube/podcast as backround noise rather than having to sit down and actually read.

Wether this has anything to do why some sites are ''after Colin'' or Pewdiepie or whatever is a different thing entirely.

Well, when her "cause" as an Aboriginal writer is to make people stop and think about problems unique to Aboriginals, and her issue specifically is the seemingly innocuous mistakes Horizon makes, as well as the larger conversation - or more accurately, lack of conversation - around modern conceptions of Aboriginal culture, it would make sense to use Horizon to launch her argument. I don't feel it's as disingenuous as you claim.

As someone who is Aboriginal (I'm Métis/Nadleh Whut'en), I share many of her concerns. I've completed Horizon: Zero Dawn. Like her, I believe the problems Guerrilla present aren't egregious. But boy, seeing her get trashed on one of gaming's largest podcasts, or reading posts from people who "didn't pay too much attention" to the issue and about how it's "bullshit" for Aboriginal people to tell non-Aboriginal people to not use the words that historically have been used to oppress and hurt us, has been incredibly disheartening.

People didn't neccesarily go to those sites for raw news. They went their for reactions to annoucments, or impressions, or walk throughs, or gameplay videos, and a lot of that they now get from their favorite, familiar YouTube personality. It's why sites like GiantBomb stayed ahead of the curve despite the fact that they don't cover/review every game or piece of news. It's also why sites like gamespot seem to be having more trouble pivoting and are now also publishing tv and movie content.

You're wrong. Colin and Greg still level together, for fucks sake. And Colin is going to be on the show next week, and the plan to continue having him visit from time to time.

They're all being professional about it. It's clear as day that the bridge is burned, and blown away dust at this point.
That's not clear at all? They plan on having him for a GoG episode so he can talk about what's next because the guys want the audience to know and support him in his new venture. If bridges were burned they wouldn't give a fuck.

The dude lives with Greg. You guys don't think they talk about this stuff almost every night?

Yeah, I don't think there's any bad blood between Greg and Colin. When Colin mentioned being back stabbed by close friends, I have to assume he has more than just the 4 Kinda Funny guys as friends. Colin has worked in the gaming biz for a long time, he probably has many friends all over.

The moment he left and added a litany of shit stains to his followed, I knew he was just building his own little wall to keep all those awful "sacks of shit" that disagree with him away. Sad really, guy wants to be a public figure but can't stand to be criticized for unpopular or downright harmful opinions. If this was the old TV days he would have been removed from broadcast within hours for his awful opinions, but in todays age he can say whatever he wants to whoever he wants but can't even have a meaningful discussion without crying about "regressives" that can't stand people having terrible opinions

1) let me guess yoy were offended ,id stay away from twitter if I were you
