What is a possible Microsoft answer to Horizon Zero Dawn and Breath of the Wild?

Whatever it is, the game has to blow the socks off everybody in the visuals department. If anything MS need a game that is graphically impressive, games like Horizon, Uncharted and the upcoming GOW etc...

Microsoft can just do their own thing.

I don't like the idea that Microsoft has to be Sony or Nintendo ...but my only criticism of them has always been diversity. Many people will argue that Microsoft has diversity in their catalog but if I have to constantly search for it, I don't find that to be diverse. I kind of want a brand revitalization in which they blow me away with games that I would have never thought I'd see on an Xbox. I just feel like they are so predictable in what they will showcase and I want them to change that...

All these Scalebound answers can't be real, can they?

That looked like a C-Tier game at best.

Ahhh yes, the famous A+ to F grading system for games. Good way to convey a game's perceived quality.

Anyway, Scalebound was definitely an option. Early stuff looked a little hollow, but I was excited to see how it fleshed out. Oh well.

What concern trolling, their best days are behind them. And they haven't even announced any games for the distant future, it's clear as day. Sony has got all this shit in the pipeline for 2019-2021. Xbox has what, Halo 6 and Forza Motorsport 8?

Not concern trolling or anything but Microsoft should close up shop and sell to the highest bidder.

Scorpio and maybe Forza are about it. Horizon isn't the kind of game Microsoft is known for pushing anymore. All the IPs Microsoft pushes now are heavily multiplayer and online-oriented.

And a good question to ask is: How many PS4s has Horizon actually sold? From what I can see it's mostly just hyping up people who are already PlayStation fans.

Long game, bruh. What system are people going to buy next? That's the interesting question. A good and varieed library helps locking people into your ecosystem.

We are not playing this ignorant game fam.

Forza Horizon 3, the only Microsoft published game in the top 10 MC list on Xbox one.

Where Halo 5 at? 54th. Gears 4? 53rd.

Play what ever game you want, fam.

But Playground Games are the fist and only studio working with MS exclusively to reach a 90+ metacritic score this generation.

Since Nier Automata turned out pretty fucking good that backstage demo version of scalebound sounded great in theory as well. So who knows what the truth with scalebound was

Fam we still 60 and above with exclusives. We still cruising.

Exactly, Microsoft doesn't have it in them anymore, they're burned out. Can't even get marketing for a proper blockbuster anymore, just bottom of the barrel Shadow of Mordor type scrub. Their internal studios lack talent, being closed left and right, their biggest franchises are dead.
Xbox is done.

You're being equally as annoying as the people who over exaggerate the lack of Xbox exclusives.

And to be fair, Sony isn't just announcing games for the distant future....they're releasing exclusives that trump anything on Xbox (e.g. Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, and Bloodborne).

I have an Xbox and enjoy quite a few of its exclusive games. It's a good system. But the PS4's library is quite a bit stronger.

Sounds like a massive conspiracy by the fans.

Scalebound always seemed popular enough on here and Reddit from fans of the console.

Scalebound was the main reason I bought an Xbox One. Waiting on Cuphead, a remake of a game I played 12 years ago and 360 BC games. Such a bummer, as I really liked a bunch of Xbox and 360 titles. Ninja Gaiden, Otogi, Gun Valkyrie. Scalebound really looked like the natural extension of those type of action titles.

It does, but I think Microsoft is banking on the big multiplatform games running on a platform it's trying to make superior will be enough to get the mainstream audience to pick Xbox. In the later part of the 360 era MS pretty much coasted on most people buying Madden, Call of Duty, and GTA on Xbox by default because people perceived XBL as so much better back then.

MS is doing the same thing now, trying to enrich Xbox as a whole by pushing a system somewhat less bound by singular hardware with backwards compatibility, Play Anywhere on Windows, and Scorpio introducing a "generationless" transition. But PS4 got the upper hand because 1) MS fucked up the marketing message early on with its online activation fiasco, and 2) PSN got to a point where it was good enough for most people. Oh, and I also think a huge disadvantage for Xbox, possibly the most important disadvantage, has always been its relative weakness outside the US and UK -- specifically in continental Europe but also somewhat in Japan and the rest of Asia.

What's funny is that Xbox already has had some really impressive looking games. Ryse still holds up to being one of the best looking games. Quantum Break looked great and was technically very impressive with the effects and stuff going on. Gears of War 4 had a few times where it looks absolutely stunning. Forza Horizon 3 looks jaw-dropping, and in photo mode, you can make it look like straight up real life. I don't think graphics are gonna sell a game.

People tend to gravitate towards extremes on the internet. Good things are received with rapturous applause, bad things are burned in effigy.

This is true about life, not just things on the Internet.

But seriously, isn't Sea of Thieves their response? Or is that cancelled?

Are you just assuming I'm being sarcastic? How do you know I don't truly feel this way?

So what happened to all the stuff you said they had to show on the day of last years briefing when it was leaked previously?
You're gonna have to refresh my memory on where I claimed I'd be right.

I hear ya buddy,

still hurts, will continue to grief MS about it

During their E3 presser you claimed they had still more stuff to show that hadn't been leaked and I'm asking you what were they?

One of the main things I'm worried about when I pick up a scorpio. PS4 got some very solid titles out the last three months alone, with a good amount of variety between all of them.

I don't see crackdown coming out this year. Hopefully state of decay ends up being a solid title

Crackdown? I bet they will try to make it as an answer to everything.

"If you want rich varied and unique content that is outside of the Shooter and racing genre, we have a product for that. It's called the Xbox 360 backward compatibility." - Phil Spender

:P

I honestly don't see anything comparable. I don't think Microsoft owns any studio who could make a game of that size and quality. I would be happy to be proven wrong.

people are still in the honeymoon phase with horizon if they seriously think it's changed anything about open world games. it's just really good at the standard format.

Crackdown? I bet they will try to make it as an answer to everything.

I don't about you...so far, all they have shown about this game is.......the buildings blew up real good.

I mean...don't get me wrong...the tech behind crackdown may or may not indeed be really mindblowing but what happen to the 'game' part? Very few details were shown regarding the game...(other than it's another crackdown which can go either way)...

For Honor, Tom Clancy Wild Land.
Tirple A multiplat games, the reason people buy console for. Better controller, better online infrastructure, better system feature etc to play those games is the answer.
