The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT2| It's 98 All Over Again

I still don't know where the emptyness some people talk about is. Maybe near the Death Mountain? But I've found treasure chests and Koroks there...

There are moments where there are no enemies or anything, but those don't last long. I actually appreciate those moments. No urge to go running for the next treasure or running from/to the next fight. Just taking in the scenery.

This just tickles the "Well these enemies are too tough but fuck it I'm persistent" itch I had with Dark Souls :(

If you have a
shield
and master a
perfect parry
it's easy. But yeah, it takes time to be confident enough to pull it off. Guardians are creepy as fuck in the beginning of the game.

The AI in this game is just so damn good it hurts my balls.

Drop a bomb on an orange Bokoblin and they pick it up like dumbasses. Higher level Black/Silver bokos just kick that shit back at you or dodge it outright. The same enemy types have different levels of awareness based on level.

So dope.

It's in Gerudo Highlands. I also thought the mountains surrounding the great hyrule forest makes that region really spread out thin.

Yea, the Gerudo Highlands it feels like they just sort of forgot it was there and then remembered and threw a bunch of stuff there.

The shrine isn't even hidden or anything. It's just sitting there. And it's a test of strength shrine, so they didn't even need to design anything.

109 shrines down. About to hit the very last Memory, wrap up Shrines, and then save my battle with Ganon for this weekend so my 8 year old daughter, who has been heavily invested in my playthrough, and I can end these characters' suffering (hopefully).

I expect to be done with shrines tonight and will hopefully use Thursday and Friday to go hunt some Lynels which I have yet to take on head-to-head.

There are so many tree branches in the game and pretty much jack all to do with them.

I get the feeling they were planning to let us craft arrows from tree branches.

At least let the dog play fetch.

Can anyone give me any tips about this late game memory location?

the one in hyrule castle? Should I wait to defeat Ganon to get it?

I tried to find it last night and basically just got blasted to pieces endlessly

I was thinking slingshots.

Get behind the castle (on the island itself though). when you're facing the castle, you're going to start treking to the right! You'll to the right of the castle (or left if facing it from front) is a tower that sits on the edges of the island. Climb it. There should be a guardian cannon type thingy there. Just kill it. Now, look towards the castle. Diretly in front of you, above on higher grounds, is another tower. That's where Zelda's study is. You'll see one of the flying guardians circling it.

There is nothing in the game tied to beating the final boss. Get it beforehand.

The enemies around the castle are far more dangerous than the boss itself. You can get it if you sneak around.

How does one get star fragments? I've seen them here and there but I'm not sure how to reliably procure these

You need to pick them up where they land. It should illuminate with a yellow light. What I do is see where they land and then pin it on the map so I know where it is.

The poster in post i linked details where to locate them in-game.

I mean, I read the post, but that still looks to be fairly time consuming and RNG reliant after you have gotten the guaranteed drops from chests etc

yeah I was aware, just wondered if there was a faster way since it's fairly time consuming going around looking for these :(

Damn I completly forgot about slingshots...what other "typical" items are missing...then lantern and bottles but other than that most typical ones are in

The thing about the lantern and slingshot is they're redundant in BOTW. You get a bow almost immediately, which typically replaced the slingshot. The effect of carrying a source of fire is instead done by lighting wooden weapons.

I'm convinced my Amiibo love my GF more than me. She's gotten a bunch of the unique clothes and weapons, and I've gotten....Epona.

Last night "ooooh a sword I need one of those!" and I see her putting down the Ganon Amiibo, and I look up to see the Sword of the Seven Sages. :(

The torch replaced the lantern and bottles are automatically given to you when you need them for home made potions.

There isn't really a need for either of them in this game.

I know, I just realized that about the slingshots...the other stuff was always a pain in the ass actually. you could cut grass and get laods of rupees but the Hyrule only had 6 bottles....yeah....for sure :D

A lantern would be useful for when you don't have an immediate fire source, I guess. I didn't notice it's absence, but it isn't entirely redundant.

Fuck the slingshot, though. It never had any functionality the bow didn't, it was just a bow for babbies.

Not being able to craft arrows is probably my biggest issue with this game. They included literally everything else, I'd like to hear the designers reason for the omission.

I think it's to do with this - when you have no weapons and need something to attack the goblins. You get twigs right? Especially at the start of the game.
If they're a weapon (and take up weapon slots) as opposed to a resource that goes up to 999 in your inventory then people would really fucking hate the weapon management system with all their slots taken up by tree branches.

Not the most well thought out design.

They could have let the twigs stack as a weapon (not damage, just the number you have)...but then nothing else does, might be a tad confusing though I wouldn't have minded.

This! Also being able to hit a black smith or sharpen weapons.

Yeah... I still want that after 65 hours into the game. I'm getting better weapons but there are things I just want to keep.

Oddly, the only miniboss that poses any sort of challenge

- Doesn't count as a miniboss towards rewards for killing minibosses
- Doesn't have his own unique music

The way Lynels are treated in this game is really inconsistent with their design. They're tougher and rarer than the other minibosses and yet get treated as just a regular enemy as far as the game is concerned.

I think that adds to the charm. The Lynels are tough in and of themselves, the reward is the player's satisfaction at beating them. They don't need to be bigged up as bosses.

So I'm thinking it has to do with the start of the game.

Very astute of you. I never considered that.

Well when I stumble across a weapon I've never seen before and really dig, like the Sheika giant Katana, I put it on the wall in my house untill I find another lol

^ nah don't worry hah, the game saves constantly! Every 5 minutes, whenever you discover something etc

I do the same thing :) Though there are more than 3 weapons that I like!

Kinda wish I had a box to keep stuff at home but I'll settle for maxing out my sword slots first.

They could also have probably let you craft arrows from wood instead of tree branches...but then it's a tad weird that you can't do it from tree branches, which are a kind of funny beginner weapon.

I would have liked them to have had a musical theme, though.

Just finished it.

50 hours 34 minutes. 63 shrines, 49 seeds. Still had 3 or 4 areas of the map to reveal, and only have about 5 memories.

Great game. The castle is a masterclass in atmosphere. I realised that I could
swim up the waterfalls
, which led to a situation of me popping up from the top one, then having to quickly get my bow out and
shoot a Sentry Turret mid air with Guardian Arrows
before it shot me.

Fought my first
Molduga
last night.

How exactly are you supposed to fight these? I kept getting popped in the air, slowing down time, and spamming elemental arrows from a triple shot bow. I'm guessing you have to fight them while on your
Sand Seal
?
