Yeah that's the thing with SPD. It's one of my favorite seasons, but it's the beginning of the overuse of explosions during fights, and it makes them waaaay difficult to get through (just wait until Operation Overdrive where it's just an EXCESSIVE dump of explosions)

Counter to that though, the rest of the scenes and actings are pretty good. ....just not.. fights. Odd for Power Rangers haha.

it wasn't performing to their expectations, budget cuts started happening (which is why SPD was the last 40 episode season before Samurai), and basically gave up by the end of Jungle Fury (This after a failed attempt at an animation project before Toei shot it down).

The only reason we got RPM was because Bandai of America already started funding for it. (if you find the leaked trailer, they actually used MGS music for it...I'm not kidding).

Saban was interested in revitalizing the series, so they bought it back (same with Digimon)

Disney purposely killed the franchise when RPM came out and Saban picked up the rights again because Disney didn't want it.

Rather shortsighted on Disney's part in retrospect, what with their buyout of Marvel a year or two later.
