Honestly the best way to do this is to just play the game normally and if you're not in the middle of something, ask Hino at Dueling Peaks stable to see if tonight will be a Blood Moon. If one rises unexpectedly, just reload an autosave. You can get in the shrine at 9PM.

I wonder if there's any chance they can improve that area with a patch.

I don't know, I think she genuinely thinks of herself as destined to be "chosen" and regardless of her ability or inability to do certain things, she thinks whatever path she chooses is the best way to save the kingdom. I think this is made pretty apparent in one of the memories, and then with her and the King's diaries.

And with regards to Link, spoilers for his development and further Zelda development,
she initially very much hates him for he's effectively a nobody who does everything she failed to do and reminds of her of it every time she sees him. When she hides the sleight/shrine activation from him, you know she does it because she knows he'd succeed in activating it where she had for years failed to do so. And then you later find out Link just keeps his mouth shut and does as told because he knows this and doesn't want to be a burden to his future Queen.

It's 21 and 23 points, it seems. I used splash damage from bomb arrows and a triple bow to cheese it a bit. If you've gotten over 20, you probably already know you don't steer the horse yourself. Reload your save so you don't waste arrows, etc.

THEN attacking you when you think you're on a safe distance.
 
So, the heat of flame weapons can melt ice without the need to hit it, just holding the weapon near it will do the trick, that is AWESOME.

Takes forever though. I make campfires next to the ice while also holding a fire weapon. I think that speeds it up to reasonable levels.
 
I'm getting close...8 shrines left. Only 3 side quests left in my log. I've fully upgraded all the clothing that I've found, which is 2 1/2 pages worth plus one square, but I figure there must be more because I have a
Dinraal's Fang
and nothing to use it for.

I've only done 2 Divine Beasts. I guess I'll knock out the other two. Man, it's tempting to look at a guide for these last few shrines. Maybe if I haven't found them after the weekend.

I'm still loving just running around the world, but I sure wish that annoying shrine sensor would beep. I wonder how many shrines I missed because I turned it off near a shrine and forgot to turn it back on for a while...or because I was using it to find clothing upgrade materials.

By the way, what's with everyone calling clothing "armor"? Hardly any of it is.
 
So...isn't there a giant floating fortress above Hyrule somewhere? I feel like I haven't seen anyone mention it. What the frig is that thing?!?
 
Does anyone have a good method in farming Topaz that doesn't involve fighting the rock golem.

I once blew up an explosive barrel and the fire spread near to Epona causing her to freak out.

She survived but I decided to reload my save as I felt bad.

Yeah I am not a fan of the combat shrine as it means that I have to go all the way back to Link's house grab the weapons suited to kill the guardian scouts, put on the champion tunic so I can see their HP, do the whole song and dance as I slowly whittle down their HP, get frustrated when my weapons break as I kill them, collect their remains, collect the chest, get the spirit orb, leave the shrine, warp back to Link's house to put away the new weapons that will eventually break, change back into the Twilight tunic and then continue as normal.

Try mining around Death Mountain. There's a TON of rare ore deposits in the whole Eldin region.

Combat shrines suck. They're probably the worst part of the game, but together they're like 20 minutes of content. They have so many weaknesses that they are pretty quick to stomp, once you've done a few of them.
 
82 hours in, and finished my 3rd divine beast (
Vah Medoh
). Definitely the easiest of the ones I've done, but it was still fun, and the lead up to it gave me all sorts of flashbacks to Miyazaki's
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
(spoiler tagging that just in case). So good, and I love that town and its inhabitants. Wouldn't mind living there, to be honest. LOL

Yeah, that's the most egregious slow down in the game. It's a shame because it's also the most magical area in the game.

I think the number of combat shrines is a bit exaggerated, but they're pretty much free shrines near the end. I only found like one or two major combat strengths before they become trivial rather than a challenge. And they just take like two minutes to complete so it's just like finding another mini-boss monster in the wild.

I was talking specifically about environmental slowdown. But yeah. I've had the game pause when fighting only one Moblin. Since it seems to be Moblin-specific, I hope it's a patchable bug.

Haha I got so lucky with this one yesterday. I found the place where you have to be when the blood moon appears, and went on exploring on the opposite snowy mountains. Blood moon appears that night so I fast travel to the mountain in the opposite side and then glide across to complete it.

Felt good to use fast travel in that kind of meta way to solve the puzzle.
 
How often did people figure out alternate solutions for shrines before the intended ones? In Bravery's Grasp, I had no idea you could
take the laser off the wall, so I solved it by placing a bomb on either side of the switch, gliding over to the far pillars, using an arrow to raise them and gliding over to the stairs, then detonating both bombs as I climbed to the top.

Also, in the one where you had to bring the ice cube to the end,
I grabbed the metal block and brought it back down to the lowest level, threw the ice block on top of it, then just used magnesis to lift the block to the very top.

what?

why do you need the champions tunic? every outfit shows a health bar, it's easy to know your damage output.
and you don't need special weapons, if you have a full inventory you can kill one easily. they have the same pattern each time....swipe/stab (either flurry rush, just go ham on them, or use an electic weapon to stun and then go ham), then spin attack (stand behind column, create a column if in water, bring up column if on metal squares), then spinning laser (jump and electric arrow then go ham), then power laser (just run up and go ham unti the fire and sprint as they fire, then go back and go ham on them and they die). easy peasy.

There have been several where I'm pretty sure they didn't have "one correct way" in mind... sometimes I even think I completely luck into solutions, which feels weird at first, but then it feels great in a "Wow, I can't believe that actually worked!" kind of way.

These can drag if you spend a lot of time specifically seeking them out and doing nothing else. They're at their best when you happen upon them on accident through natural exploration.

Yeah, I hit 100 last night, and it's been a slog these last few days. I'm going through the motions at this point just to say "I did them all!". I feel like there's too much of a good thing; shoulda been capped at 75-85 shrines.

Don't deliberately try to burn through them. Instead, explore naturally and approach them when you find them. Been playing for about 80 hours now, w/ 80 shrines. The pacing's been pretty awesome for me. I just check out an area I'm not familiar with and am bound to stumble on things.

I think having more than people will normally do or find is a strength of the game, not a weakness. Developers shouldn't reduce the amount of content out of fear of completionists disliking it.

Yeah, I'm probably a minority opinion here, but I think redundancy and wild excess in some of the game's content is what makes the exploration work. If you explore and do your own thing, you'll mostly find enough of what you need to in order to progress.

Yup. It seems like most of the complaints about the game, sans weapon durability, come from people that come up with "rules" about what they will or won't do in the game, before actually seeing what they're having fun doing or where they cap out.

That sounds silly, there'll be other issues where the world feels less populated and it becomes harder to travel around the same world with less warp points. Just stop doing them if it no longer feels fun.

65 hours in and I finally discovered this area of the game. Man I agree with you.

I'm shocked it got released with this poor of a framerate. Honestly, the rest of the game is solid (even a few hangups and temporary freezes are fine in a game of this scope). But that area is genuinely NOT okay.

I'd honestly be okay if they "downgraded" some of the geometry/grass in that area to improve the framerate. There's so much happening on screen. It would look nice at 30fps, but that area barely reaches that framerate and can only hold it for a second or two before tanking again. It would still look good with less grass and stuff.

I think this is the case for all open-world games though. Go for everything, no matter how good the game is, and you end up feeling completely fatigued because you're just doing work for the sake of it at that point.

I know for a fact that I'm going to see the credits roll on this game around the 80 or so mark on shrines... maybe 200 or so on the seeds. They have to populate the world enough so that most players will continue to find things as they explore, but it's a nightmare for completionists.

I felt this with GTA5, TW3, etc., and I know I would with BOTW if I did the same. It's actually the first open-world game where I don't feel compelled to do everything, and it's been one of the most liberating feelings as a result.
