Merchants slash their prices during bad weather. And also put up their best goods for sale.

So I decided to track down the ancient parts merchant to see if he would sell any ancient cores...

Got nothing else to say.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat game changer. Too bad I already fully upgraded my ancient armor.

Oh man if the game would have truly end up looking like that... :( But this is still my GOAT so no issues :) And yeah I think this scene is simply not on the game and was just generated for that reveal trailer and nothing else.

They certainly almost got all the way
I never expected the WiiU to be that close to that concept reveal trailer

I'm starting to think I might never be able to finish this game. I'm spending way too much time exploring and wandering around that I fear I'm going to reach the point where once I set the goal of following the main story quests, I'm going to be bored of the game. Thankfully that feeling hasn't happened yet but I really must start doing the main story.

Yeah, I also never believed the game will end up looking like that, despite Aonuma's comments saying that footage was real and running on a Wii U. Game right now still looks beautiful though :)

Travelling west of Gerudo Town and my bare clothes are apparently still too hot, so i'm taking damage. Any tips?

Equip an ice weapon.

You can always cook up some climate-appropriate food/elixirs or purchase appropriate gear, but in my experience the easiest way to manage temperature is just to combine equipment the game gives you (e.g. the warm doublet and the Gerudo Vai gear) with an elemental weapon.

The main story just steers you towards more exploration. If you haven't stumbled upon it yet, then the main story will introduce you to a lot of wonderful things.

I have hit the 50 hr. Mark and I know there's a ton I've missed. Haven't done a lot of the side quests, just started upgrading my hero tunic. Done 27 shrines. I just love exploring.

Well, I finished the game last night. :)

Might be my favorite Zelda ever. Hard to tell right now. I liked the ending a lot, actually. Although I probably wouldn't have felt closure if not for
the final hidden scene

So I saw this green aura in the distance and went to investigate and discovered
a small pond where a group of magical woodland creatures were congregating. They quickly disbanded after I dropped down and tried mounting one of them. Will they show up again or was this a one-time deal
?

Pretty sure I've seen it twice at least. Couldn't tell you exactly when it happens, though. Might be something to do with the moon?

^ Mostly. Pro HUD is great, and while it doesn't drastically change much since the game is inherently designed around not hand-holding, it's a much more streamlined and less cluttered way to play. I generally just leave the beacons on though since in many cases, they just mark where the questgiver is, not necessarily where you need to go.

Yeah, that LOD was never realistic for the Wii U hardware. Foreground detail is decently close, but deteriorates pretty drastically as you move further out. But conceptually and tonally, they really nailed what they were originally going for IMO.

Just met my first
flying
Guardian. And I ran away after taking a picture of it. Can't even handle the regular roaming variety yet.

Where is this person??

And by "this person," I mean the ancient parts merchant.

I beat the shit out of the first one I met with a giant metal box. It took like 20+ minutes but it was hilarious and awesome.

So I asked before but no one replied: Did Nintendo patch BotW to add anti-aliasing? When I first played on release it the aliasing was so apparent while playing docked. I played for five hours yesterday and it wasn't apparent anymore.

No, but the game does have an adaptive resolution that drops slightly below 900p depending on what's happening in the game. It could look a bit more aliased at that time.

Last night I got an Ancient Battle Axe++, Guardian Sword++, and a badass Guardian tower shield with some bonus on it (i forget what) from a Major Test of Strength. Love those fights, too.

I did that one recently too. Afterwards, I went Guardian-hunting with my loot.

Sometimes I just play this game like rambo and don't even do quests. I just go on a killing spree.

If you travel there during the night, it's cold instead of hot which makes it easier if you picked up cold resistant clothes earlier. Otherwise, you should be able to go without heat or cold problems if you go right before dawn or as the sun is setting.

Started playing this game on Monday and I'm having a good deal of fun, though there is a tad too much down-time when just traveling.

I was heading to
Zora's Domain with the prince popping up out of the water from time to time
and this is the first part of the game that feels like it's trying to create a somewhat linear path for the player. You could of course just climb some walls and use your ice rune to create your own path but they clearly designed an actual path for the player to follow which is sort of a nice change of pace. Just thought it was interesting.

Am I losing my mind or does
Pelison in Tarrey town
use Navi voice clips when you step on his shelf and talk to him?

I'm just losing my mind?

I was supposed to stop playing five hours ago...

Random bonus shot - the game just looks so beautiful quite often:

Makes me enjoy just loading it up for 10 minutes to run around, collect some crickets, lizards, shrooms, butterflies and take in the sights and go looking for a korok seed dude, maybe a photo opportunity. A really relaxing game, partly due to the visuals and open world natural landscapes and detailed visuals effects, colours and style.

Btw do the korok seed guys like anything to eat? I remember hearing it once on a video somewhere but tried giving them all I can think of and they don't care. The video was pretty soon after the release of the game so they may have meant something else but I keep trying.

Ha yes. I noticed this too and thought it was a nice touch. Don't know if any other dog acts like that in the game.

Hah yeah it was pretty sweet to see. Just turned around and noticed him. I haven't seen it happen elsewhere but I haven't been everywhere yet, and will keep an eye out.

I love how you can use elemental weapons to give you some extra protection in hot and cold areas. Just strolled around the gerudo desert with my basic heat-resistant clothing and
an ice sword
in order to get to the westmost area of the desert, where I managed to not die against a black bokoblin stronghold and also found
my third great fairy fountain.

It's also funny how I kept upgrading my stamina since I guessed it was going to be the main limiter for traversing mountain ranges and such, and I now have enough to climb up labyrinth walls and bypass most of the winding corridors. The only downside is that it looks like I'll be needing lots of hearts in order to
reclaim the master sword
, but then again it feels like I can make do with the stamina I've accumulated so far, so I can probably start investing in heart containers now.

Use lightning weapons in combination with
Urbosa's fury
in the rain is so satisfying. Took down an entire group of like 5-6 Bokoblins, including a silver one in one charge attack.

So who's going Pro-HUD and beacon-less in here?
I didn't switch to Pro-HUD until very recently. I wish you could fully customize it. I'd still like the weather forecast and maybe even the minimap. Beacon I turned off instantly, though I imagine it could become useful later on when it comes time to track down the last shrines.

If you have money,
you should find the demon statue near Hateno village. A little boy could take you there from town. He might make your quest for the master sword a little easier...

Pro HUD here, I have used the beacon pins for shrines though. The regular HUD drove me crazy with its clutter from the very beginning (and I thought the minimap sucked), but I didn't remember I could pro until I was done with the Great Plateau.

Where did that giant korok with the maracas go? I saw his once and then he vanished.

Just passing by to say Sidon is great and the best character ever!

Where's that tweet that showed up on some late night show that said "Prince Sidon? More like Sidon his dick *shit ton of emojis*"?

I've already seen that, but kind of wanted to explore some more rather than taking the easy (but sort of expensive) way out. I still haven't found a way to get into the Eldin area either (tried with the desert clothes, but maybe I should equip the ice sword as well?), so I'll probably go do some more exploring around there.

Regarding pro mode, I pretty quickly switched it on and also turned the shrine beacon function off. I do use the map every now and then, but it really feels like exploration is at its best when you aren't constantly being reminded of where you're supposed to go.

God damn it, got into a sandstorm right next to a nest of black bokoblins. Can I just wait it out or is it some kind of scripted event where I've got to walk away from the skull structure for it to subside?

Now that I've found all shrines, done all the quests, and upgraded just about all my armor I am extremely envious of people still experiencing the game. At least I still have a few hundred koroks to find. The DLC can't get here soon enough.

So who's going Pro-HUD and beacon-less in here?
I'm using pro HUD though the normal HUD is fine, and other than clutter doesn't effect the exploration for the worse or anything imo. What does though, and I wish was default, is turning the Shrine sensor off. I've had so many amazing Shrine discoveries that I can only imagine being completely ruined by a beeper. Though admittedly, I think once I reach 110 I'll turn it.

Don't let the seeds take ya.

Maybe I'm an idiot. But I'm 140+ hours in, and I still keep getting the Map and Inventory buttons mixed up lol
Same. LOL I think it's great though that you can swap between them without having to exit out first.

I'm pretty sure Beedle uses several lower-octave Mario voice samples when you buy stuff from him. Cracks me up, even if it's not accurate.
