So question

In the Mezza Lo Shrine in Hateno Village, did anyone else just flip the entire maze upside down and just went from there? I was wondering if anyone else tried doing it only to find out it was possible and solved the motion puzzle that way.

If its the same one I think, i just turned it 90 degrees. The ball fell into the last section of the puzzle.

Yes, it's that shrine. I just flipped the maze completely upside down and just got it over to the other side with no gates or anything.

Do yourself a favor and get

Bayonetta 2, donkey kong tropical freeze, mario 3d world, smash 4, pikmin 3, NSMBU, xenoblade x etc etc

I omitted mario kart 8 and splatoon because the switch will be getting a port/ sequel

This is obviously well intentioned but also really funny, lol.

Yo, my dude, I know you just said your budget is tight but go buy eight games ASAP!

Don't get one of them though because you can play it on the system you said you can't afford or find.

Get on it!!! Do yourself a favor!!! Yeeaaahhhh!!!

I saw somewhere that shrines on the map have a chest icon if you got everything in them, is this correct?

if so, this very first shrine, the Magnisis one or whatever, has no chest icon on the map, I went back in and cant find fuck all in it besides the chest that had the bow. Am I already terrible at this game? ;_;

Yes and yes.

You're not missing out on much. In other words, don't worry too much about it. The chests are mostly there for an extra challenge.

After finishing the game with more than 90 hours played I got to say that the only thing that really bothered me are the rewards.

Nothing like finishing an amazing Shrine Quest (like
Eventide Isle
) and just get a bunch of Rupees as a reward.

While I don't expect every single Shrine or side quest to give me some amazing loot, at least I expected the ones that seem to have a lot more work put on to them to give me something unique, not common weapon # 5 or random ancient spare parts.

The main reward is always the spirit orb. Everything else is just gravy. Some give unique armor with special properties, so there's that. With just about everything in this game being expendable, I can't really think of any shrine reward that's better than what they provide.

I pretty much refuse to fast travel, and I'm enjoying the game more because of it.

I was near the Plateau once (I have two Beasts down) and decided I finally wanted to go back to Hateno Village and scale
Mt. Lanayru
. I passed this up earlier because I didn't feel ready.

Literally 20+ hours later, I'm deep inside
Faron
and doing god only knows what and
Mt. Lanayru
seems another 20 hours away, lol.

Oftentimes I open a chest and can't take the item because I don't have space. I drop a weapon on the ground, get the chest reward, and drop the chest reward and pick up my original weapon which is almost always better.

It would be nice if the game calculated the bonus based on what you're already carrying.

Try looking up.

Got the guardian armor set fully upgraded finally. Once I realized that blood moons reset the tests of strength I ended up collecting 5 ancient cores each reset. Also it's a great way to stack good guardian weapons and shields.

Whatever the second speed is you can jump at, I do it accidently all the time. The hardest part is remembering how to throttle down, but i wouldn't call anything about the horses poor.

As I said, I've only had intermittent problems with horses up until this point besides the whole can't summon them from anywhere design choice. That one jump during that one mini game is terrible though, and I don't see how anyone can say otherwise if they have experienced it.

dude Ive been looking everywhere lol. I got the chest up on the balcony, that was obvious. All the youtube videos I see on the shrine dont get anything else either >_>

edit: OH WAIT. is the chest icon next to the NAME of the shrine and not the icon? because I have that lol >_<

That feeling when the game just gives you Star Fragment like candies but stingy with Topaz.

I even got a star fragment when it landed near me when I got the last memory.

Anyway I did the memory quest and I have to say, Zelda voice English voice acting is terrible as it ranges from okay to terrible, especially in the serous moment where her voice simply does not match the tone that the game is trying go for and as a result the actress just comes off as if she's just reading the script but not putting any effort into her acting ability.

I am okay with voice acting in this Zelda game because the story is optional and is a one time affair but I do not want it to be a staple of the series and it should not return for the next Zelda game not without an option to disable them for the people that don't want them.

I also retired the Rito Bow in Link's house after it became badly damaged as I grew attached to it and didn't want to it to break.

what?

why do you need the champions tunic? every outfit shows a health bar, it's easy to know your damage output.

The Champion tunic display the numbers which makes it easier for me to keep track of their phase, especially for the last phase as I suck at parrying the laser blast so I just use statais to freeze them to wail at them but the HP number lets me know how aggressive I should be.

Whaaat? Why would ANYBODY do all that? I enter a battle shrine, I beat the fucker using what I have at that moment, I leave the shrine with 2 new flashing weapons. That's it.

Because my strongest weapons are stored at Link's house which I use exclusively for dealing with the Major test of strength shrine, I do not use my regular weapons unless I need to but in that case I just use the Master Sword first before using them.

Bottom line I am not going to put into the effort of having all my weapons breaks just for 3 new weapons that will eventually break later down the line, I did that for the first Major Test of Strength and I lost 4 weapons with 1 entering the "badly damage" state so it was good as dead and I walked out with 3 new weapons.

So that 5 weapons lost for such a little return.

Man, the piggyback hadcover guide is great. Really taking my time with a second playthrough.

Yeah I have the soft cover version and I have been really loving it, though the Amiibo tunic upgrade requirement are wrong.

No I just rotated it 90 degree anticlockwise, tilt it down so the ball would land on the end of the maze, then quickly tilted it up, rotated back to its original position, tilted down to pick up speed and then at the last minute tilted up to flip the ball over to the runway where it rolled down to its final resting place.

It was much quicker and easier than the upside down method.

Anyone know the strongest armor. I'm ranked at 84 defense with my current set and don't take too much damage but I feel it could be better

Holy fuck don't remind me of that.

It's the only moment of the game that made me stop playing.

That would be a better idea. I think the overworld chests are like that.

huh...

just grabbed a plank with the magnetism thing to make a bridge to some chests in the middle of some swamp, and then killed a skeleton when his head popped off in combat, so I grabbed it and punted it into said swamp.

This game is alright :3

I have 50 shrines, not one had the icon ;_;

oh my god so you do have to talk to his wife to trigger cutscene
I wonder how come the first time people pointed me to the guard and the guard pointed me to
flight range

did anyone encounter this issue? i feel so silly

I did this too.. wheres his wife?

so how do map pins work? I used up all my pins on shrines and towers when the old man told me to do it, but now on the map only 2 pins show up, the tower ones I think?

Is your map zoomed in all the way? If you used your pins on towers they'd be off the plateau and so they wouldn't be visible if the map was zoomed in too much.

You use the Shekiah slate to mark the shrines with colors, I think you can mark 5 at a time. Then you can use the map to mark additional places with icons (skull etc).

When you visit the colors marked by the shekiah they automatically get removed.

You probably pinned something far. Try zooming out and you'll see where the other pins are.

Pins get automatically removed once you arrive at the area you pinned.

Do arrows only restock if you are running low? Stores have not been restocking arrows through a lot of blood moons in my game... but I have a lot of arrows so IDK...

oh damn thats exactly it hah. thanks :D

120 shrines done, had to check a map online to find my last 6. I had the radar turned off for most of my playtime so I gave up at 114 when I didn't want to walk through the entirety of Hyrule again with the radar on. Some of them I actually wouldn't have found even with the radar. I was looking at the map and looking for empty spaces where there could be something, but it turns out some shrines are really close to each other.
The one next to Gerudo Tower where you have to put luminous stones on a pedestal would have been completely impossible for me to find.
. My last shrine was
the sand seal race. Not the most optimal final shrine from a gameplay perspective, but it was fitting that the Gerudo clapped for me and called me the new champion.

I'm probably at 120+ hours, closer to 130 and I have a bit of a fatigue right now, but I will come back to do some of the side quests, fight some Lynels and finish my goal of having every armour. I really don't feel like upgrading them all though.

Soldier helmet is 28 when maxed out. That's what I have now.

What's wrong with ancient set? I was considering that one next

There's nothing WRONG with it, I just don't like the silly cone helmet.

Soldier's helm and
Cap of the Wild
has max def of 28, just like the Ancient Helm.

I was hoping the Diamond Circlet or something might pull through for me. I prefer Link without a hat. :/

The Diamond Circlet may offer the same def of 28 since it has a starting stat of 4, just like the other 2. I haven't fully upgraded it yet so I can't guarantee.

Pretty much any item in the game leveled up enough means, at best, you're only taking one or two hearts of damage per hit.

I stopped caring about the raw defense stat awhile ago when I noticed the clothing I wanted to wear was only hurting me about a half a heart extra on damage taken. I'd rather look the way I want than care about dying, especially since late game it's pretty hard to actually die.

Oh good. I'll give it a go, then.

My favorite headpiece is the Snowquill piece. It might be my default anyway. The defense is so powerful in this game. I'm not sure if you'll ever NEED 88 defense.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's just hard to break my habit of min-maxing.

Just did the
Eventide
Island quest. So much fun, but the treasure at the end was weak, lol. At least I got an extra thing to do once I get some more stamina.

Yeah, I care more for additional armor benefits more than the defensive numbers. Just giving me better mobility, elemental defense or additional attack power is a much better reason to equip the armor piece.

Edit: Yup, as expected the Diamond Circlet can also go up to 28 def at full upgrade. A bit costly to fully upgrade though.

Anyone else hope that we're done with the goofy Peter Pan green tunic? The new blue one looks ace, and I hope it's here to stay.
