The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT2| It's 98 All Over Again

So, now that I've played this game a crap ton, I still don't see any reason for Ganon to be called Calamity Ganon. It feels really awkward and corny? It doesn't add anything to him as a threat or concept. It's kind of redundant, really. He's always been a calamity. That's his whole point in the timeline and narrative.

Yeah just The Calamity would've been better.

Calamity Ganon makes it sound like somebody (or Ganon himself) specifically named him that way and everyone somehow understands it, but as far as I know he's just a big evil thing no one should know much about.

Finally decided to finish the game today at roughly 230 hours played. All shrines, all armor maxxed out, and my hyrule compendium filled up with high quality shots of all the entries. I seriously spent an inordinate amount of time just trying to get great shots of everything. I found around 230 koroks, but decided to finish anyhow with the intention to hunt more in the future when I want to dive back in for some more time in Hyrule.

The game is simply incredible. It isn't without faults, but it's easily the best incarnation of a living and breathing Hyrule we've seen. Even after 200+ hours, I'm still finding little detailed touches of artistry and design that simply put this game in a category above many of the industry's most revered games.

Nintendo has blown me away with this game and I simply cannot wait to see what effect the response to it will do in terms of future software development from the company.

On to Horizon...

Yeah that would have been pretty cool actually. Then he could have some grandstanding moment where he introduces himself, his love for darkness, his lust for power, etc. Typical Ganon stuff.

70+ hours in and
The Forgotten Temple
gave me good practice on parrying the Guardians' laser blast.

Unfortunately ran out of shields near the end and just had to book it to get to the shrine.

Has Ganon ever affirmed a lust for power? Maybe OoT? Wind Waker is the only game I remember him explaining a motivation, and it was a sympathetic one—he wanted a better life for his people. In OoT he was hostile, in WW he explained why he was hostile, and in Twilight Princess he wanted revenge. All the other games have outside characters cast judgment on him and speculate evilness as his motivation. But I don't think he ever himself proclaims a love for darkness or lust for power.

I don't pay close attention to Zelda lore honestly, I was just conjuring up villain cliches. I've always thought of him as a dude who's very into being evil, but I'm not surprised the lore is more specific.

Guardians are kind of boring once I discovered the best way to kill them.
Parry the second their eye turns blue.
Kinda wish I didn't know this, seeing one used to make me panic.

I'm about 5 minutes away from 230 myself. I beat the game around 199 though. I'll be over 300 to reach 100% completion probably.

Using the shield midair as a double jump has cemented itself as a core part of my moveset in short order. It's crazy how useful it can be! You can even clear obstacles up to about Link's height in the distance, because he does a little flip, lol. To demonstrate:

^^just used it to skip a 20+ second wait for a moving platform lol

So I just beat the game...
that was it!? All this for a shabby cutscene and a really weak ass boss? Even Thunderblight was better.

On
Eventide Island
, absolutely nothing is going wrong and on my way collecting the third orb. Thunders hits a tree next to me, no problem! Tree falls on top
of Link ... Well fuuuuuuuuuck...

What's your hour count? Gaining some agency in the world is a good thing! I was like 60 hours in before I felt like I didn't have to high tail and run at the first sight of a guardian. It still has to be 1v1 though. Any more than that and it still spells trouble.

Yea, one Guardian isn't a big deal after a certain point. Two to five Guardians? Fuck that shit, I'm out.

Just beat the giant robo camel finally. And started my second row of hearts. :)

And dang, Urbosa is so much better than Mipha and Rivali. And from what I've seen of the Goron champion, he's pretty cool too.

So what are the -rare- drops for the breath of the wild amiibo? Zelda's is pretty hardcore, so I'm wondering if everyone else is on that level.

Hard to say.The costume pieces I got with no trouble but I tried getting Link's sword and it wouldn't drop in 200 tries and had the same problem with Zelda's shield but then I spent maybe an hour or so the last couple nights and got everything I was missing. Link's sword actually showed in up in two tries when I got it. I got ganon's sword in one.

With just
Gerudo
left to do I'd argue
Zora
is the best thus far.
Rito
is really fun getting into the beast but non-existent otherwise and
Goron
has little breathing room.

4 divine beasts down, got some decent gear and

master sword

should I high tail it to ganon?

did about 45 shrines, and a few sides. Enjoying the game a lot, but im not a fan of the side quests. getting a little fed up of em.

approximately 70 hours gametime so far.

I'm at 30% Completion, and I'm going to focus on collecting all the stuff for the games encyclopedia.

I have 80 shrines in the pocket (on my own without using any help), but I think I'll just use an online guide to get all the Korok seeds, as there's no feasible way for me to collect 900 of them on my own.

I feel the same.
Hyrule castle was the worst "dungeon" and Ganon was the worst boss.

Yeah you might as well face Ganon now

Funny thing happened to me today. I was clearing out a bunch of bokoblins and moblins when one of the moblins decided to jump in the water to get to me. Moblins can't swim. :lol

So I just started playing this game on the Wiiu and HOLY crap doe sit run so terrible! I'm trying to get the para glider from the old man but where I have to go is cold and I die.

What am I supposed to do? I charred some peppers and eat them to try to stay warm but no luck.I'm doing something wrong aren't I :(

T8lda8A.jpg

Wii U says 154 hours played.

120 Shrines
135 Korok seeds
maxed all regular armor
killed all mini-bosses in the over world
max stamina

man, you can get so dynamic in combat when you have a ton of stamina and you know what you're doing. I'm so bummed I don't still have an Elgato or something, lol

Is there any point to the Ruined Colosseum other than being an early place to get your ass kicked by a Lynel? I've cleaned it out once or twice and never saw anything worthwhile.

Also, Lynels with flameswords are bullshit. Not because they're hard or anything, but flurry attacking them through the flame trails from their attacks just annihilates the framerate. Plus I'd rather get any Lynel weapon instead of a shitty 24 power flamesword.

aside from the reward from the guy outside, no. So yeah, pretty worthless.

You can get a lot of elemental weapons from the enemies above the Lynel.

I love them too. It's a shame I can't use the really awesome weapons since they'll just break and be gone forever.

As far as I know every single item in the game can be reobtained. Unique weapons can either be reforged at their respective blacksmiths, and the
Hylian Shield
can be rebought at the
secret Tarry Town shop
.

I'm finding that I have little motivation to do so, though, considering how much easier it is to get Guardian 3.0 weapons that are both better and non-metallic (and thus thunderstorm-OK).

Is there more equipment other than the jacket to keep you warm? It was easy enough to get armor to keep you cool but 60 hours in and I still have to make food to keep warm.

It's weird because despite having the sheild he's not offering it to me. Does my shield need to be broken before I can buy it from him? Wouldn't make sense considering everything else he has for sale I've already collected without purchasing from him.
