The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT2| It's 98 All Over Again

I'm addicted to going places I know I shouldn't yet. I went right for the Zora area and then up the mountain next to it, activated a tower with some SERIOUS protection. Love it. It's hard, but I'm glad I have the freedom to do what I want. I did all of this with the first set of clothes you get in the game... I need some real armor.

It's truly one-of-a-kind. It's like when you daydream about a game that you think will never exist and then it exists.

I'd say this goes beyond dreaming. Never would have thought that climbing would be one of my favorite features of a Zelda game. I would never even think of that to be honest. Similarly the interplay between all the runes is something beyond my imagination as well.

I cannot wait for the DLC.

game keeps telling me that I forgot at least a chest at the moa kishito shrine... but i double checked and looked at YouTube videos too and there is no missing chest
I bet you missed
the one right at the beginning. There are breakable blocks in the ceiling.
I missed that one at first also.

Just finished the Typhlo Ruins sidequest. Amazing.

(I guess spoiler warning the experience?)
I entered it from the wrong direction, by gliding into it from the eastern Death Mountain side (where the Bokoblin outpost was). I was just like, "What is this giant black area?" and glided over kinda stupidly. When the message came up, I was still in the air over the bog, causing me to land randomly in the dark and grope around confusedly for awhile, with only a Meteor Rod on my back as lighting. It took me a minute or two to remember I was carrying a torch as well and that I could just light up some grass for a light. So then it was a few more minutes of wandering frantically with no guidance (while wolves circle me!). And then finally seeing the glowing ball and the pedestal, and excitedly realizing I was at the end... Until the sleeping Hinox came into view, giving me a legitimate, "I want to go home" moment. He wasn't very hard, but I love how ridiculous that challenge is when you come across it.

My understanding is that there is a more guided way to do it with torches along a path but my more chaotic entrance ended up being fun.

Well, to make dreaming worthwhile, what do you hope for from the holiday DLC?

I am going all out and imagining a timeline-inaccurate loftwing return complete with various flying islands, each with their own challenges. These islands have to all be conquered to access the new dungeon.

I remember once there was a shrine with a moving platform going back and forth real close to the ground, and a switch in the middle of the room. The path to the goal was a staircase type thing that was controlled by the switch. What was the intended solution for that one? I didn't use the platform at all.

I have had an absolute blast looking at alternate solutions to puzzles once I beat the game.

My experience was similar to yours, but scouting the area later I found a proper entrance to the forest. I guess that gives you a more guided experience
.

I'm actually finding myself having a better time with the game now that I'm finished playing it full time. It's nice being able to take the Switch to bed with me and spend a little time hunting down a shrine. I still have like sixty to find so I imagine I'll be getting mileage out of BotW for some time to come.

100 seeds worth of space feels like plenty, I cant even fathom what kind of korok triggers I'm missing with 900 of these guys out there.

Im at about that too, im really wondering where the hell the 800 remainings are lol. Guess we have to climb all the trees, mountains to see them lol

The should have put the % completion of seed lower, like 0.01% instead of 0.08%, and balance eveything else soyou can have a higher feeling of progression rather than knowing this number count nearly to 3/4 of your 100%. Knowing im now at like 70% yould made me feel good, rather than seeing im at like 25% knowing all this number can change just because of the seeds.

So this is a special reward weapon potential breakage question:

I just used the camera to add the
Lightscale Trident
,
Daybreaker
shield and the
Scimitar of the Seven
to my compendium. Interestingly, these articles can supposedly be refound on the map and are searchable using the Sheikah Sensor.

In the case of the
Lightscale Trident
, it can supposedly be refound in the
Lanayru Great Spring
area. The thing about this is that it suggests that somehow, these weapons spawn at these locations and the locations aren't just flavour text.

For instance, the common locations for some of the
Guardian Scouts
or
Yiga Clan
just straight up say "unknown" because they can't be refound on the map in definitive locations.

My question is, has anyone broken these reward weapons and refound them again?

I just did that one. I had no idea the laser could be moved. I used two bombs and arrows to control the switch. Damn I feel dumb.
I recently encountered the first shrine where I'm sure my solution was not what I was meant to do. It also involved controlling a switch with multiple bombs. It's great that the puzzles are sometimes hard but can also be solved with creative thinking.

I also beat the Gerudo beast as my last one. I know a lot of people don't care for the dungeons, but I rank that one among the very best 3D Zelda dungeons. The Zora one was also very good. I love how the beasts are a unified puzzle. They remind me of the dungeons in Majora, which revolved around manipulating a central room. The open design works really well with this concept. And I honestly prefer to have the dungeon-like content spread out in the world instead of being concentrated in a small number of grand dungeons.

I am very interested in the answer to this. I am sitting on the trident and scimitar right now because I am loathe to lose them.

Today was spent exclusively in the Gerudo area. So many amazing things. You guys were not kidding; the Molduga music was incredible.

Finding shrines in the desert was exploration at its best. God I love this game.

Ok I lied. I'm starting to love this game. Just realizing how much stuff I can actually do. It's amazing

Enjoy. There is a wealth of shit to discover.

Such a great area, and such good payoffs for your efforts. I also had a great time in that area.

Do you guys still play the game after completing the main quest?

I'm about to finish it and I can't wait to be able to tackle shrines, sidequests, exploring, Master Sword etc without the main quest looming over my head. So relieved to get it out of the way!

Man, I just went through a harrowing adventure comparable to the most notable epics written by scribes of old. I think I will title it: The Hero and The Horse.

Long story short I took ownership of a Horse whose former owner was a Bokoblin. The Bokoblin meet an unfortunate end tumbling down a cliff after someone shot him with an arrow. It had rode it's Horse too close to the cliff, so the Horse was swept downriver. I stayed with it and made sure it got to land safely. I decided it had earned a place among my Horses.

Unfortunately the only way to a Stable was through Castle Town and Hyrule Field. Definitely one of the most nerve wracking experiences I've had in the game, but I got the Horse to safety. I decided to name her Poochy, from Yoshi's Island.

I have been playing this game for 5 - 6 days and it is so special. It has everything I wanted in an open world game. Even cutting trees for wood has a purpose. Such a masterpiece.

Do you guys have any way to get more ancient parts? I got very few to get the that set they are selling in akkala lab.

Hyrule fields. Learn how to parry guardian laser with your shield. You will get tons of materials in no time.

Gotta hunt them Guardians!

Kill full health guardians, they drop boatloads of them.

If you're having trouble with them, do the combat shrines and grab the ancient weapons the mini guardians drop. They'll melt the big guardians, aim for the legs first and you'll stunlock them for most of the fight and get some extra ancient parts for hitting them there.

I just did this, too.
I did enter from the "correct" path, but it was still basically me running aimlessly trying to light torches so I could see shit. I'm very glad I had a Flameblade with me so I could just start fires if I couldn't find one for my torch. I had actually never gotten brave enough to fight a Hinox in the overworld up to this point, so when I realized I was gonna have to fight my first one in pitch black darkness I almost just nope'd the fuck out of there, haha.

I always see people fighting the Guardians with such flair and style and when I play it is this systematic routine that couldn't be considered a fight due to how one sided it is.

I ride up to them, hit their eye with one arrow, and follow up with a perfectly timed attack rhythm: one full combo to the body, three swipes at a leg to break it, continue until it is dead by keeping it in a stun lock.

I wish I was cool but to me it is broken down to a science of efficiency.

If you have acces to the Akkala lab then you have access to
a one hit kill arrow for guardians.

Considering most Guardians drop enought materials to make two or three arrows it's a good way to grind out ancient materials.

Don't know about the two last ones, but the
Trident can be crafted after you destroy it. Once it's destroyed (requirement) you can ask the Zora crafter to rebuild it for you. You'll need a regular Zora Trident, a diamond, and some other stuff for him to do it.

I haven't come across those other two weapons mentioned, but I assume they work the same and come from the geruto and Gordon crafters cause theres a rito bow you get that can also be reobtained after breaking by a rito that crafts it for you.

Accidentally found the
Leviathan skeleton in Hebra
. So satisfying to solve that environmental puzzle.

Kill those guardian crawlers. They drop boatloads of ancient parts, and if lucky you'll even get ancient cores and giant ancient cores.

Really helpful, thanks.

Now to conquer my fears with those fuckers

The Master Sword is also a pretty good method to kill them: Shoot thier eyes with regular arrows when they target you and proceed chopping off their legs with the Sword. Then the body.
After about three of them the Sword will have to recharge though

I just parry their laser 3 times. It's stupid easy once you get the timing down. No weapon damage or arrows used.

So I just beat the final boss.

I did only one dungeon (Ruta), but got 13/13 of Impa's memories, but not the Urbosa/Daruk ones. Did I still get the secret ending?

The thing is... I need more hearts to take out the sword, how many does it take?

20 more shrines. Just 20 more shrines. And I've only covered like 25% of the entire map. I know I"m behind this entire thread but in my defense I haven't had much time to play it.

Looking for the shrines without using the guide is like

1h0PD8S.gif

Pssst, do anyone have GIF of Link remembering the past (Where he opened his eyes)?
I said to myself I'll open the guide once I hit my 110th shrine. Currently at 102 and I have located 2 more shrines.

Sadly I won't be able to play for extensive hours this week. Zelda owned my life since release and playing without a guide is one of the best decisions I could have made with this game.
