It rains more in some places than others. There's also one zone
Zora's Domain
where it won't stop raining until you clear the quest.

it's definitely more frequent in some places, but yes it's a problem since it stops you from doing many things... they should have made so that you can craft suction cups with, I don't know, octorok tentacles and chuchu jelly that makes you climb during rain too

119 shrines down. Only Eventide island remains. I don't really want to fight the main boss. I've been all over the castle multiple times and have been right by the main boss. Just don't feel like 'finishing' it. Hopefully Zeldas accommodations are reasonable in there.

I'm at 105 shrines on my own. I really don't want to use a guide for the rest, but my last couple of play sessions had me literally running around waiting for my beacon to go off.

It never did.

Buried shrines don't activate the sensor. So for many shrines you will have to hope you find the unlock conditions more than the actual shrines themselves.

I didn't feel like burning hours retreading areas, so I just looked up a map for the last dozen shrines or so. Pretty much all of them were buried shrines.

There are a few areas where it is programmed to rain constantly. However after said story event is cleared the rain will stop.

What makes it glow? (I've had it for a while now, and only had it glow on me once)
vs Guardians
Inside the Divine Beasts
Inside Hyrule Castle

Does anyone know if durability is also affected by the sword glowing? I swear I was using it almost non-stop last in
Hyrule Castle

So I have all towers, all memories, and have completed all divine beasts. I am currently at 64 completed shrines.

I'm not sure when I should tackle Hyrule Castle. I don't think I'll have any problems if I went right now but it's hard finding a time to decide to finish it. I think I'll try and max out my hearts before doing so. I need 7 more hearts so that's 28 more shrines.

Does the game let you keep playing after the final boss or is it like most games where it reverts to the save beforehand?

Once you beat Ganon, your save file will be tagged with a star and you'll be reverted back to the area immediately outside of where the Ganon fight begins. Make sure and take pictures of Ganon if completing the compendium is your thing.

STOP FUCKING RAINING OMG

trying to unlock the shrine with the lightning rod

AND I FUCKING CANT BECAUSE THE GOD DAMN RAIN FOR 15 MINUTES

They've gotta patch this shit.

Ah, good to know there's a set Seed Cap to shoot for without getting every single one---max out my inventory slots and I'm "done" with that.

But yeah, the intent of more than you need works out so everyone can look for different ones while everyone gets the same (useful) reward in the end without getting all of them.

yo im way past the "always rains" part, im like 60 hours in. I just decided to go out and explore for shrines and shit, so when thats your only goal, it gets annoying when it rains every 5 mins and you cant climb. Come on, dont be that guy that cant take just a tiny little criticism in your game, that just bums me out.

Anyone else just have no motivation at all to do 'endgame' stuff?

There's another 40 shrines I could go find, or I could try to collect every armor set and upgrade them, farm Lynels, guardians or rupees... I'm sitting close to 70 hours and kind of want to finish the game and take a break. Maybe I'll return to it later for extra stuff.

I felt dumb when my wife saw me playing and told me to try offering apples to the rest of the statues instead of taking the ones already there. That tip alone got me a lot of seeds on my travels.

Or be the asshole Link who offers the apples to get the seed, then takes all the apples afterwards.

Sometimes these chestnuts are inside are non-fallen trees as well, or hanging from a tree branch of a standing tree.

See my reply a few posts up!

Apple tree thing? Do you mean
koroks under rocks on top of trees
, or something else entirely? I don't think the ones in my spoiler tag are exclusively in apple trees, just various big trees.

I'm glad! I hope that does it - we totally missed that tip ourselves so hopefully it will be easier to accomplish it that way. I will say when we went back to check out how that works we found
the angle of the ember blowing a bit confusing
so I think our
breadcrumb method
we ended up finding a bit more fun, so if for whatever reason the intended method doesn't work for you, hopefully that alternate one will.

I had no idea about the ember thing. I followed the torches until I couldn't and then I noticed a deer running further into the forest. Followed the path the deer took and made it through
guess I just got lucky with my method, it was pretty sick though!

It's not like I could know this, I was just offering some friendly advice.

Now do the same in return and don't assume anything else about me.

Thunder plateau?

Speak of the devil...

Anyone else think... it will be hard to go back to older Zeldas now that this one embodies the OG Zelda more than any other. I want to play Skyward Sword again but remember all the tedium for the few moments of brilliance. I don't think I can do it after playing BotW.

I mean, you got 70 hours out of it, thats more than most games. Thts more than 2 or 3 most games combined :P

I think I could easily return to OoT and MM, but not to TP and SS.

I do not mind to see this feature in Smash Bros so it would give camera feature more purpose to use.
It's so weird how fun that mechanic is. When I see the orange for something I haven't taken a picture of yet/or seen I get all excited!

For me it was opposite. The real game began after I completed the main quest.

Was this the shrine you get to via
stasis mine cart?

If so, that was one of our favorite shrines so far. We just came across it a couple days ago and the length and complexity of it made it very satisfying to complete. It was the most dungeon-y the game has felt so far.

Yes exactly that shrine. It's amazing to see something so fresh after 80 hours in. That's the beauty of the game's open design.

BOTW is my first Zelda and I am seriously considering it for my GOAT game.

I'm screwed for going back to the classic Zeldas aren't I ><

Just spent a full Wii U gamepad's battery charge yesterday farting around. Got the upgrade bonus for the
full Sheikah set (so OP)
, went exploring in the
Tabantha region
, scored a few thousand rupees in gems, retraced my steps through
Zora's domain and tracked down the Zora Helm.

Where does the time go??

I decided to replay Ocarina on my 3DS and nope. Still great, but then again that game had little in the tutorial department.

The only thing that bugs is unable to climb everything anymore lol

Oh definitely, I love the game, I actually just feel a bit guilty about not wanting to immediately go do the extra stuff. I think what I'll probably do is focus on finishing the main quest and memories this weekend (only Gerudo and 3 memories left), then take a break for P5 and weave in BotW postgame whenever I feel like it.

We had a lot of trouble with this too.

The most specific hint is
use the torch to your advantage. The embers blow in the direction you should walk.
The hint the game gives you to this is
the fire and torch they give you.
But, that completely escape us. We didn't discover that hint till after we navigated the area successfully, with significant difficulty.

Actually the biggest hint the game gives you is a NPC in the
Woodlands Stable
I believe, he specifically mentions you should
watch the wind when
in the Lost Woods!

This game is like a dream. Exploring Hyrule is being the best experience I've had in a videogame.

Not only I have been enjoying each hill and each forest during the last 4 weeks, but I have still a long way to go.

I just wanted to share my joy. What a time to be alive.

I'm curious, did you know where to find the
Zora Helm
? I just found it in a random underwater treasure chest. I was shocked, haha. Did you find some clue about its location, or was it just a random find for you too?

Man....Time goes by in a flash when you're knee deep in this game. In the course of 2 and a half hours, I had the following adventure:

-
Explored the entire underside of the Castle, including the Docks, the Lockup, the Library, the Dining Hall, Zelda's bedroom, her and the Kings studies and retrieved the Hylian Shield from the Skeleton Giant. Soooo good.

- Started making my way westward for the first time. In 35 hours I had been exploring and completing the entire east side, which still isn't completely done. I discovered the
Arena Ruins
and defeated the Blue Lynel there. Fucking aye those bastards are tough. It's kinda funny how an enemy found in the overworld is way tougher than any of the real bosses are. They should definitely be classified as Bosses in their own right. The dude cowering outside said that "treasures" awaited whoever killed the beast, so I assume he was talking about the weapons the Lynel dropped. The only chests inside the
Arena
I found had arrows and Amber in them.

This game man. What can be said about it. Magnificent.

I dunno about the older Zeldas yet, but it's already made it hard to go back to something like GTAV (a game which I love.) I was playing it last night and walking around the area around Michael's house. I kept trying to jump and glide downhill, or pull out my shield and surf. Ugh.

Because I traversed the world in all sorts of ways, I actually missed around 5 stables after I had finished all the Divine Beasts.

This was a mistake because the stable guys give you loads of useful tips. Then again I did discover most of them myself, but... it was kind of weird going around and realizing that I had missed so many. They must have really wanted me to use a horse more often.

Not at all. I'm really loving BotW but it hasn't surpassed OoT for me as my favourite Zelda.

Shrine Spoiler:

Trying to complete the Shrine Quest called 'Gerudo' Tower. It's so hard to aim from the tower, especially considering you have such a short window in which you can do it. The wind makes it even worse. I used a 5x Lynel Bow and spammed over 20 arrows but couldn't do it. Will come back later when I'm more stacked with arrows.

This is nothing but a pie in the sky theory, but is the Ancient Tree Stump possibly meant to be the Great Deku Tree from Ocarina? There isn't much there to suggest so except a
Korok to be found

I wonder how many bundles of wood you'd get from cutting down the Great Deku Tree. Hudson would love it!
