You can buy brand new physical games for £5 etc no problem + free delivery
It's cheap it's only discs

From what company? How long has it been released? I sure have NEVER seen a BRAND NEW PS4 game go for that much upon release.

As someone that both works in and had studied business, yeah you don't understand this.

I got America's Test Kitchen on DS for $2 at Best Buy, so he totally knows what he's talking about! I just had to wait for it to be out for 6 or 7 years.

Yeah if you want Battleborn

He doesn't
And that disproves my point how exactly and you clearly know all this right taking this sellers word for it

All in all they're overcharging for some cheap ass games since the beginning profit margins for them must be off the roof. It's only a bunch of cheap plastic boxes and a cheap disc and a few paper here and there. And they get it in bulks for big discounts too

I didn't know we were buying Steam codes here...

Profit margins after what? Producing a disc? Coming from a small company?

Eh I'm done, feels like playing with a troll.

They're both down to 10% after 15 minutes.

Guess what, people DO want these games

I would bet it is mostly people keeping the collection going, scalpers, speculators. I bet most people never play them, so I guess it doesn't matter.

We'll never know though. I just think at the end of the day you can be the company that releases all the cool physical games on disk, or you can be the company shoveling all the shitty indie games onto disk. I see them creeping to the latter.

All you have to do is not buy the games. Let people have options.

I skipped Pang but I bought MKH because I want it. Your tastes aren't absolute

The quality has only increased. Nonsense.

Neither are yours. Is it not ok to disagree with you?

Like I said, I acknowledge that many people are buying these for a shelf, in which case the quality of the game is irrelevant.

I'm not the one saying that my tastes should dictate what LRG releases.

If you had your way, I couldn't have bought MKH today even though I want it. And your benefit here is ?????. Not having to see it on their site? I guess?

Eh its your money you can do what you want with it I'm not one paying that much for the mediocre games that can be gotten for cheap just so i can look at mediocrity in a flimsy cheap box and disc so I'm good

¯_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not talking about my tastes. Step back and realize that we're talking about games with 50-60% review scores. That is more broad than one person's tastes. If these were not limited and were all over the shelf at Wal-Mart, most people wouldn't want them.

There is a bigger picture where you can tarnish your brand with high volume and low quality.

And that's literally why LRG exists? because none of these games would work at retail

I want to own MKH on disc. What's your argument for not allowing me to own it? The metascore? lol

When there's 5k people buying those "low quality" games, I think they'll be okay

Great, I'm glad that you got a game you want. There will always be someone that likes a game no matter what it is. And it's fine if we disagree. I just think sooner or later they hit a point with that they wind up eating stock. I don't think they are sound enough to do much of that, so I'd prefer that they keep the quality higher.

Fuck I forgot that a low metascore means I can't enjoy a game :(
Oh so Metascore doesn't count but only steam reviews now? Lol

Those Steam users got this game for free or for a $1 like me i own this game on Steam and for free eh ....

But if they paid the price you lot are paying for 1/10's everywhere no doubt

Edit: This game can be gotten for only £3.50/$5 on Steam right now 😂

Also read the top reviews of this game ;)

Personally, I don't agree with most critics. Some of my most beloved games and movies are rated low from Critics and Audience alike, so I don't do with this personally, but I know for some, they rather others make their choices for them before they give something a chance.

Pretty sure those people have that close to them like their bible or something.

Gotta play Devil's Advocate with the scores

I'd trust reviews more from sources that actually play those kinds of games. Give me a review from a niche/RPG/Steam site where someone already bought and played it, over some large generic company that tosses the game out to Random Joe and say "play this and review it".

Man, watching the trailer for Astebreed PS4 again, I kinda can't believe how much they changed/added to the PS4 version, and never backported to the PC. Really glad LRG got their hands on it.

Edit: As far as MKH goes... why are we posting Metacritic scores? Like, I have no idea how good or bad the game is, but I'm not sure I'd particularly trust today's crop of reviewers to know what the hell they're talking about, let alone when it comes to a game that caters to a specific niche like this.

And that's fair enough. Metacritic scores from critics, come from anyone that will play anything on review sites, so most of the time Japanese games often get trashed, even when there is a faithful community to the game. User reviews can be trollish on there too, since anyone can do their own 2 cents. Are Steam reviews purchase-only people, now?

Yes now just last month. Before that anyone who owns it can review it. This released on Steam 2011 and as said before the game was sold for super cheap or given away free codes or in bundles etc. When you get a game for next to nothing of course you don't have much hard feelings against it

Just because you might like a game or movie critics don't like doesn't mean reviews are worthless. Of course your individual taste is all that matters in the end, but it is possible to use reviews for what they are. I'm sure you know if you are reading about a genre you tend to adore that the general populace doesn't. You know this and can account for it.

I love Sci Fi, so when I read reviews from generalist sources I can keep in mind there will be reviews that trash it because it isn't realistic, or that it has too much CGI.

First time I used the shipping box method. Hoping it's even more save to make the items arrive in perfect condition.

How are other peoples experiences with the box?

Since we're discussing the game and most people won't be able to read my review, my biggest issue with Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae is how short it is.

It's basically a glorified demo that lasts one to two hours, with repeat enemies all throughout the game and a story that's just there for context that doesn't go anywhere.

The purpose of releasing niche games is to... appeal to a niche.

Review score aggregators for niches of less than 5,000 copies are obviously a completely different beast than for releases targetting millions?

Trying to limit what LRG releases is just bizarre to me. Don't buy it if you don't want it. They will get the signal of enough people agree with you.

By the way, I'm not exactly against the game getting a Limited Run Games release, just that the scores aren't really wrong for this particular game, in my humble opinion.

You can complain all you want, in the end it matters if there is a demand, if the games sell, and they do. And there's no indication at all that things are slowing down because of these "bad" games. They're still going to sell 13,500 discs today.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Keep em coming LRG, you're doing great. <3

I wouldn't even disagree with that. It's certainly no 9/10.

The box is great quality

I agree with you. I was simply speculating that this might be the time that they get the signal. I just also think it would be healthy for them and their focus.

Both questionable games are still available and this is just the first half.
