Man it's going to suck when they blame this on audiences not wanting to see female-led action movies.
That's what's gonna happen @_@
Personally, I just wasn't feeling the trailers

She was awful though. She was the highlight in a very bad movie. Didn't find her character remotely interesting. The good sign for female superheros anchoring films is Harley Quinn was basically the star of Suicide Squad. Some feminists complained she was too sexualized but bottom line is she's probably the most popular female superhero on the market right now...even amongst females.
Not a chance in hell the budget is that low; isn't the "source" for that figure Jenkins saying something like "I'm the first woman to direct a hundred-million-dollar film?" It strikes me as pretty obvious that she was merely referring to the general nine-figure budgets of big franchise films and didn't mean it literally.

Both my daughters want to see it.
I'm going broke with these recent movies. Being a single dad with no purse to sneak food into a theater with is getting expensive.
Anyone have food sneaking suggestions? LOL
4 year old is too big for a baby bag. X-D
It has been 14 years since the Cat Woman flop. If Wonder Woman flops, prepare to wait for 14 more years (2031) for the next female superhero anchored film
CapMarvel is 2019. Batgirl would probably come out the same year as well.Captain Marvel is set to come out next year. I don't think WW flopping would affect that Gotham Sirens movie DC has in the works either.

Spider-man screwed over everyone.Didn't realize it got pushed back again. Last I saw put it in November for next year.
So an 83 million OW is bad for this?

As far as what would constitute success, offhand I would be thrilled with an opening weekend close to the $85 million-$95 million range that we've seen from Logan, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier or Thor: The Dark World.
But, without declaring a prediction or a bar for success, let's consider some scenarios. A $610 million worldwide gross makes it the biggest live-action movie ever helmed by a woman (Mamma Mia! made $609m in 2008). A $666m total puts it over Jennifer Yuh Nelson's Kung Fu Panda 2 as the biggest film ever singlehandedly directed by a woman (Frozen was directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck).
A $695m gross puts it above The Hunger Games as the biggest non-sequel female-fronted action movie of our time.
Cargo shorts. I could easily fit a can of soda in each pocket, and the movie candy boxes are usually $1 at walmart. I can fit a couple of those in my pockets as well.
That's a very odd framing for an article.
It is the lowest, sure, but that's a respectable opening for Wonder Woman. Mendelson had a better point overall.

I'm specifically referring to Margot Robbie's portrayal in the awful suicide squad.Eh, say what you want about DC but Harley Quinn/Wonder Woman/Enchantress were all portrayed as the equals/superiors of the male characters. Refreshing change.
Are you happy, DCEU? Now a poor man is being converted to cargo shorts. When is enough enough?Heck yeah!!!
I should have thought of that. I'll buy a pair this week...not even joking..LOL.
First 3 years of my (almost 5 now) youngest's life I carried a baby bag. Snacks/food/drinks under diapers and wipes.

I think they call that good writing. And I'm saying, quality aside, Harley Quinn wasn't treated as inferior to the male characters. Her and Katana were in the thick of the action, not going 'oh, we're not trained for this.'
Like I get Black Widow's arc blah blah blah, but when you have one major female character in a film and she's the only one verbalising that stuff, it's a little bit shit.

Society is sexist and D.C. movies are terrible.

Again. Tell me how an 83 million Opening weekend for this movie is bad?
I think they call that good writing.
Because it is worst than the male lead male directed movies so people in suits will think the problem is being woman lead woman directed.
But it's better than most other movies?Because it is worst than the male lead male directed movies so people in suits will think the problem is being woman lead woman directed.
But it's better than most other movies?
I mean isn't this OW on par with Logan? So how can you honestly take that from these numbers?
But it's better than most other movies?
Okay, so a male and female character are grossly underpowered on a team of gods. One of whom acknowledged it, and the other's constant smartness about it is probably one of his most defining characteristics. They're then joined by Scarlet Witch is who is inarguably one of the most powerful people to ever be on that team.Black Widow tricking Loki is good writing. Black Widow outright telling everyone in the audience that it's stupid her and Hawkeye are in the film, but it's okay because they're acknowledging it...
The problem is that Execs will blame this on women, not on the fact that it is the 4th movie in a cinematic universe that keeps getting worst.
Like you said, it sounds like praise, but "by a woman" makes it seem that women can't make equal men so they have to be keep by different standards
But the other movies does not have our DC brand of awesomeness.
Movies like Logan have 18+ ratings, Dark World is so bad it is a meme and nobody knows who Doctor Strange is.
If Wonder Woman, a character who is on the mind of every girl, even used by those crazy feminists as a symbol, than how can she do worst than .... Suicide squad ?
OBVIOUSLY it is the cooties to blame
Hopefully Captain Marvel can break that barrier.
Confusing OP. $83 million OW would be a coup for this movie. Well in line with Marvel, of not better than a number their movies, and pretty optimistic considering the stink around this cinematic universe right now.

That would be lower than any other DCCU opening, nothing confusing about it.
How are they tracking this when I can't even buy advance tickets yet? I want their magic 8-ball or whatever they're using.
I think this movie is gonna live or die by word of mouth. The DCEU has left such a bad taste in people's mouths that the first weekend won't be great. If the movie is good, it will grow some legs but if not, $225m seems like a stretch. I learned after suicide squad that when people say it's bad, it's bad.
